1 starI ***laced my car battery on 05/17/2025. My "Check connection" lights came on when I started my car. The *** at Autozone advised me that I may need to ***lace the connectors due to visible corrosion. I went into Pep Boys in *********, **. The technician inspected my battery connectors and recommend changing both. I agreed because I didn't want my car to shut down while driving home. After the work was complete I paid and left with my car. The check connection lights came back on while driving home. When I got home, I opened my car hood to check my battery and realized that the positive connector was ***laced with some new screws and a used connector, the electrical tape was unsticking and some copper wires were exposed. The negative connector was not ***laced and part of it was filed down. The red and green anti corrosion washers were removed but was not ***laced. I called Pep boys the next day to advised I needed a refund due to the dishonest service I received. I needed a refund because I didn't trust them to work on my car anymore. The *** who answered the phone said I would have to call back because the technician was off for the next two days. I called back Tuesday 05/20/2025 and was told the technician was unavailable and she will relay the message and would receive a call back. I'm still waiting. It's my first time using Pep Boys and would not recommend anyone to take their car for service there. This is very dishonest.Review fromEDWARD M

1 starI purchased a set of 4 ****** Adventure Tires the first week of April and on May 5th had two tires blow out at the same time. i haven't even driven 30 miles yet and the tires blew up. I call Pepboys on ***********************************************************************************. They of course without even seeing the tires over the phone tell me they aren't responsible because I didn't take the warranty. shouldn't new tires last longer than 30 Days? I usually do all my vehicle servicing at Pepboys but i will no longer be spending any money at any Pepboys customer ********************** is horrible and they're products are cheaply made that's why there tires are always on Sale. Buyers beware stay away from Pepboys. I gave 1 star because I couldn't leave zero stars. DO NOT BUY ANY TIRES HERE THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND CHEAP!!!Review fromHUIHUI Z

1 starI made a reservation for oil change and NC inspection for 9:30am on April 25, 2025. We took one day off and arrive there around 9:10am.. they asked us to check in and then wait. We waited until 9:50am and then they told us they cannot honor our appointment and they will cancel our appointment. I called them again and then they claim our appointment is 9:00am and we did not arrive at 9:00am so they cancelled our appointment. The confirmation message clearly shows that our appointment is 9:30am. Do not try to go to themReview fromEric c

1 starOn 4-10-25, our engine problem light came on, so we brought our 4-cylinder 2010 ******* ****** Limited car to Pep Boys at ******************************************************* The Pep Boys representative said that the code computer reported that my car was misfiring and one of the plugs was faulty. They couldnt figure out which one, so they replaced all four plugs and four ignition coils. The total cost was $1,265.27. The most expensive item of the 4-10-25 Pep Boys visit was the ignition coil set. Pep Boys charged us $795.96 for the coil set. This is a charge of $198.99 for each ignition coil. Afterwards, we found out that AutoZone, on the web, sells a set of four ignition coils for a 2010 ******* ****** Limited for $233.99. This is $58.50 per ignition coil; not the $198.99 for each coil that Pep Boys charged. The car engine trouble light stopped. But, after a few days of driving the car, the engine light came back on. My husband called a mobile mechanic, and his reading device indicated I had a faulty thermostat or I had a faulty computer code. This is because on March 25, 2025, Pep Boys supposedly installed a brand-new thermostat. He switched off the light and instructed me to watch for the engine light to come on or for the temperature gauge to go above the midline. If any of the above happens, he said to stop driving and call him. And, he will put a new thermostat in at a price way, way, lower than Pep Boys' super high prices.Review fromKevin S

2 starsHave had multiple repairs completed at store #*** in *******, **** totalling over $3k in 2025. Last repair was to replace both front struts on 3/6/2025. A couple of days later I noticed that during this strut replacement they had severely cracked my windshield. I returned to the shop and the desk *** ******* came out and looked at it, stated he would have to contact his manager. He took photographs and then contacted the manager. I was told the manager would review garage bay video cameras then reach out to me. I never heard a word from anyone at this shop. I then reached out and sent a customer ********************** inquiry to the corporate contact email and have not heard back from anyone at this level either.I am the only driver of this vehicle and am certain the damage was caused during the strut replacement. It is sad that no one from the local shop nor the corporate team can reach back out to me and resolve the damage that was caused in their shop. I left 2 telephone numbers and they have my email address. Why cant anyone contact me on this negligence??????Review fromMichael E

1 starHaving purchased a set of tires for my truck and then being told my purchase included a lifetime free balance and rotation, I was stunned today when I took my truck in for this scheduled service and was told that they no longer honor the terms of my initial purchase and although they would rotate my tires, it would now cost me $80 every ***** miles to have them balanced. I was thoroughly disgusted to find that they now no longer honor the terms of our implied contract made at their policy changes time of my tire purchase. I realize that there is probably nothing that the BBB can do for me but I just want to make others aware of the less than honorable business practices provided by Pep Boys Tires. I had been a loyal customer of this particular location for almost 30 years and will never set foot in it again, ever!Review fromJooheon L

1 starI am writing to report a negative experience with the Pep Boys location at **** ****** *** ******** ** ***** (Sharpstown Location) on April 8, 2025. I placed an online order for four tires that were clearly listed as "in stock" on their website. Based on this information, I drove to the store to have them installed.
Upon arrival, the technicians informed me that they only had three of the four tires I had ordered. This was a significant inconvenience and a waste of my time, as I relied on the accuracy of their online inventory.
The solution offered by the store was for me to cancel my existing order and travel to another Pep Boys location in Houston to purchase the tires again. This placed the burden of resolving their error entirely on me, the customer.
When I contacted Pep Boys customer service, I was informed that a report would be created, but no immediate or proactive steps were taken to locate the missing tire or facilitate the completion of my original order at the Sharpstown store.
Ultimately, I had to go to a different Pep Boys location in Houston to obtain the four tires I needed. This required additional time and effort due to the inaccuracy of the Sharpstown store's online inventory system.
Furthermore, after this negative experience, I reviewed online feedback for the Pep Boys location at **** ****** *** ******** ** ***** (Sharpstown Location) and found a consistent pattern of extremely low ratings from other customers, many of whom reported similar issues with inaccurate inventory and poor in-store service. This suggests a systemic problem at this particular location in Sharpstown.
I am requesting that the BBB address the issues of inaccurate online inventory and the lack of effective problem-solving at the Pep Boys Sharpstown location to prevent other consumers in the Houston area from experiencing similar frustration and inconvenience.Review fromTyler A

1 starPepBoys screwed up my car, did work on my car without my consent, charged me $1,700 to pick up my car and said they would not give it to me if I didn't pay and my car was in the back of the garage, and now they won't issue a refund or return my emails or calls. I have reached out over 20 times and they say "a leadership member will be contacting me" and I haven't heard a word.
HORRIBLE BUSINESS. A bunch of losers and they owe me $1,700 and so much of my time back.Review fromTrelesia L

1 starLiterally the worst place to take your car for service. I had some service done and they didnt do it right so I made appointment so they can look at my car. The girl at the desk dont have a care in the world about your car or nothing else. She made the appointment and then I go in the next day she said the mechanic who serviced my car wont be back until Monday. This is not the first time she did this either. They have your phone number in the system so instead of her calling and canceling the appointment she just let u drive on your gas and then just look stupid in the face when you walk in the store just to tell u oh I have no mechanic working he wont be back until Monday. Why are yall open if u have no mechanic to work? Then I called pep boys to complain the lady I spoke to on the phone didnt have a care in the world about my complaint. This is the pep boys on poplar in **********. Please do not go to this place for service. Literally the worst customer ********************** and they dont have mechanics that knows how to fix cars they just ripping you out your money.
