I purchased my new home in Phoenixville in 2020 and I have just received my first 2 invoices from Berkheimer in May 2023 and Nov 2023. I contacted customer service and the representative apologized and could not immediately explain why I have only received 2 invoices and was unsure what was needed to be paid. They said that she would do a thorough investigation and email an explanation why this happened and what was the total amount owed. I never heard back for 2 weeks. I made a 2nd attempt to settle the account and the representative stated she would send an email summarizing all the charges that I owed so I could make a payment. I received emails with 4 invoices. 2 invoices that were already sent to me and 2 new invoices from 2022 that I have never seen. I sent numerous emails for clarification but I am yet to receive a single response. I called again a 3rd time. This representative said she would be unable to provide a full amount owed because my account has been sent to collections. I asked how that is possible but had no reasonable answer and said I would need to make a partial payment to them and then contact collections for the remainder. She stated no investigation will be done and it is my sole responsibility to contact them if I never was sent a bill prior to May 2023 and I would need to contact the post office for them to investigate. When following their instruction their collections agent said they had zero record of my account being in collections and the post office said it was Berkheimers responsibility to open the investigation since they were the sender. I sent another email to Berkheimer with this information but I am yet to receive any response.I still do not know what is due, service dates for those amounts, penalty and late fees, who to contact to remediate this, and have never been given any indication that Berkheimer would investigate why these mailings were never sent.

Berkheimer has done it again. They are trying to bill me for something I already paid and they already deposited my check. In addition, they are trying to bill me for a late fee (I think they call it something else), for this issue, which again, has already been paid and deposited on their end and cleared my bank account on my end. I am going to go back three years and audit them for every bill I have paid to them and see if my self audit uncovers some additional issues. Thank you.

I received a delinquent tax notice recently for the 2020 tax year in the amount of $61.50. I made the payment on February 19, 2021. It was late as I never received the initial notice so I made a payment in the amount of $49 which includes late fee, plus a payment fee of $1.23. The initial payment was supposed to be for $16.50. I provided proof to of payment. They did not accept it because the proof did not have my account number or their confirmation number. The proof of payment does include the authorization/transaction number. They are threatening to contact my employer or take me to court. This is not the first time I receive delinquent notices from them. They also have sent me late notices of when I used to work in Philadelphia and wanted me to also pay county tax which I do not have to pay since I paid Philadelphia wage tax. They are always trying to get money off people.

Berkheimer charged $49 in late fees for a $13 outstanding tax balance. I find this very unfair and extreme. I received intimidating 1 page letter threatening wage garnishment. Again, extreme. Who oversees this agency?

I received a delinquent school tax notice from Berkheimer for an address in PA I never personally lived at. The only person I know who lives in the school district Berkheimer claims I owe taxes to for the years of 2016-2020 is my father. For one month during 2015 (September to October), I visited my dad before moving out of state in 2016. I did not live in PA from October 2015 - June 2022. When I moved back, I moved to the opposite side of the state, Punxsutawney and then Indiana, PA. I have NEVER lived in the school district they say I owe five years of school tax (per capita tax) in a district I never lived. I have tried to call them, email them, contact customer support and NO ANSWER. They refuse phone calls and say all complaints should be submitted via online form. Did that. Nothing. I have paid them $0 of the $130 I owe. This has caused my credit to be negatively affected. I am very upset. I may lose my home because my new landlord just pulled my credit. I may have to go after berkheimer for collateral damage as well at this point. I just received my first ever notice of this in the mail today (12/5/23). Bill says due 2/5/24.

Company claims they sent me forms for a tax from 2022. I first received a notice on 11/12/23. This notice claims I owe a tax of 5.50. I have no problem paying the tax. The company add a $25 processing fee and another 12.50 late fee. I contacted Berkheimer to make them aware that this was the first communication I received regarding this tax. I asked for proof that letters were sent. I was told by Berkheimer that they are not required to use certified mail or tracking. My observation is Berkheimer is intentionally not sending notices and then adding large late fees to collect profits.

I received a notice on the 15th showing I owed $61 by the 19th (a Sunday!) for an $11 local tax that was "not paid". There were $50 in collection fees and 4 days to pay the fee. Berkheimer claims they sent me a bill in August - however I did not receive a bill in August. I have paid my taxes on time all years prior. Berkheimer admitted they only send one invoice and then a final warning with $50 in fees before wage garnishment. Absolutely ridiculous. According to Berkheimer, this is "not a shakedown", and that the issue is between me and the US Postal Service, not Berkheimer, and it was my responsibility to ensure I received their mailing. Berkheimer could offer no proof that they sent (or I received) the tax invoice. Berkheimer also has my email address on file, but says they cannot send out electronic tax due notices, and that it's my responsibility to put it on my calendar to call them every August if I don't receive a bill, and ask they send another one. At first, Berkheimer offered to cut the fee in half, but I became angry and let them have it - finally they agreed to waive all fees. This is absolutely ludicrous, and I'm sure there are poor innocent people who are passive enough to just pay their absolutely ridiculous unjustifiable fees and participate in this scam.
