      They are coming after me to pay taxes on the retirement income that I have paid in North Carolina back in 2018. It makes no sense to pay taxes on that income that I have already paid in another state. They rejected my explanation without providing a valid reason. Why should I pay taxes twice on the retirement income in two different states.

      I have received your letter dated August 25, 2022 concerning the above named party.  Berkheimer Tax Innovations is a duly appointed local tax collector and the complaint at  issue pertains to the collection of local taxes and confidential tax information. The  taxpayer is afforded certain rights and remedies, including the right to certain  administrative appeals, under Pennsylvania’s Local Tax Enabling Act, Local Tax  Collection Law and the Local Taxpayers Bill of Rights that he or she may evoke.  

      However, with that stated, it is Berkheimer’s position to resolve any disputes or  complaints from a taxpayer amicably where possible. In this regard, Berkheimer has  made additional contact with the taxpayer to address the concerns contained therein.

      I received mail in June of 2022 from Berkheimer claiming a tax discrepancy from the year 2018 from Brockway, PA in Jefferson county. I moved to Brockway, PA in June of 2018 and have not resided in Brockway / Jefferson County since June of 2020. I did pay the local tax collector $297.71 in the 6 months I did reside in the County in 2018. However, Berkheimer sent me an invoice for an additional $86.79 plus a penalty and interest of $0.28, and a “failure to pay fee” in the amount of $112.07. Berkheimer has not responded to my mailing outlining why the information is incorrect and the reason for their discrepancy. I would prefer that any future contact between myself and Berkheimer either go through the Better Business Bureau or my attorney, ******* ******* of ******* and ******* in DuBois, PA. Account# *******
