DO NOT use Ascensus!!! I was forced into using them when ******** sold their record keeping over. I have been trying to roll over my 401k for OVER A MONTH and my funds are being held hostage by their stupid business practices and ignorance on financial products. I am rolling over to a self directed, solo 401k and NOBODY in this company has any idea what that means. They tried to tell me that doing this would be a taxable event and refused to issue the check to the correct payee. They sent this out and I was unable to cash the check. So my new provider sent it to me to correct and deposit but it was still not able to be cashed. So my new bank asked me to mail it to them, which I did, at which point it got lost in the mail. So they asked me to return the check in order to issue a new one. ***? Sure, let me just pluck it out of the "lost mail" bin I have on my desk. So I had to jump through some more hoops to get it reissued, they waited over a week to respond, (despite my multiple follow **** and then asked me to hand write a letter. I did that, and two days later they have now cut and mailed the check VIA REGULAR MAIL so now I'm waiting another 7-10 business days. *** SENDS A CHECK WORTH OVER $100k VIA REGULAR MAIL???? Because I am a small business, I literally did not have an option for any other method in the mail and they will not wire funds as a policy.I've said goodbye to over $15,000 in lost opportunity which is extremely significant for someone in my financial position. If my chosen investments take off in the next week like all indicators are showing, my lost opportunity will be significantly higher. On top of this, they have tried to get me to agree in writing to pay processing fees to reissue the check DESPITE THEM IGNORING MY SPECIFIC WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS for who the payee should be. It really feels like they are crooks holding my funds hostage and punishing me for getting off their platform. RUN FAR AWAY FROM ASCENSUS.

Mistake, after mistake! Onboarding was an experience of NO communication whatsoever! Made double withdrawals with no explanation and no recourse. Fouled up accounting on the very first month (which took more than two to complete). I signed up for ****** at their merriledge website... not aware that the entire process and account would be managed (extremely POORLY) by Ascensus! Fine print I should have really looked at much closer. Calls on hold, but friendly people. Friendly people that do not call you, are slow to respond, and make constant mistakes is NOT service no matter how friendly they are! Filing a complaint with ****** and switching to another company no matter how compliacted the process. I cannot see staying with this Godawful company any longer than I have to to go somewhere else! Why ****** does not handle their own Small Small business 401k is beyond me! Now they lost business and I am sure to tell everyone how bad it is, because of this venture with Ascensus! Stay away!

An absolute scam in every sense of the word. Charged us for months even after we requested to close an account that they later verified already had zero dollars in it. Use knowing you are guaranteed to lose your money and will face a nightmare trying to cancel.

Terrible web interface for employers and employees, almost as if they still live in the analog age. Can't do the most basic things any other company allows you to do online and they require you to do things offline yet don't even then have the forms you need readily available. So you email or call and get terrible or no response.Terrible customer service. Avoid at all costs.

I left a company and had a small 401k left over that I just wanted to cash out. Tjey dont allow for direct deposit of money so that was out. I had moved so I was told I needed to wait a 14 day hold to correct the address for that. After the 14 days, my balance was decreased by half of course (they say market...sure it was), and then they charge me a fee of $15 just to cut the check! Are you kidding me!? What a scam!! Fidelity is so much better!

Fires their only competent employees right before the holidays. Would rather keep hiring mindless drones who dont notice the fraudulent practices of this company, dont know the job theyre doing, and dont speak up. Questioning anything Ascensus does places a target on your back to get fired. From there, paperwork will be documented against you for everything you do. Ive noticed they dont like intelligent people, and if youre a POC youre pretty much done.

I worked for them, and they fired me instead of helping me in my professional development and my mental health
