I am the Plan Administrator for my company. We just got transferred from *** to Ascensus. **************** is horrible!! I need help with a very important issue and I've now been on hold for 44 minutes and counting. When I called earlier today, I got answered after holding 36minutes. Absolutely unacceptable!Ascensus

Wow, I wish I had researched this ahead of time and made my own choice on a change of record keepers! TERRIBLE experience. My previous ******** was great. Ascensus is a nightmare. They acquired my previous ******** PAI. They botched the electronic signature forms, sending the same thing multiple times, causing great confusion. Then they required a change in login credentials, which I did, and made the contributions I was unable to make during the transition because the old login no longer worked. Tried logging in a second time later that day, no luck. Tried the forgot password option, message returned you user does not exist. WHAT!? tried calling to get corrected: inappropriate prompts, wrong number called, disconnected on call transfers, etc, at least 7 calls and absolutely no progress!! Stay away, far far away! Will be contacting EBSA and DOL regarding this company's confiscation of our plan!Ascensus

1 starThis is the letter I sent to them: Hello, I have wanted to move my 6 College Choice Accounts from my broker to a direct plan to avid the high fees of investment. I mailed all 6 of the applications together in one envelope to the address specified by your company. After a while, I found that only one account had been transferred. I called to inquire about the others and they told me to " give it time." That was well over a month ago. I did that. Nothing happened! I called again and was informed to resubmit everything. I told them that if they have one, they had them all, whereupon they checked the mailroom and found 2 more. I wanted to talk to a supervisor and was informed that nobody was available and they would call me back in 24-48 hours. That was last week. I am still waiting. Your staff is very efficient in blocking information where I could find out who is in charge of College Choice. I finally found out who is in charge after searching on the internet. If I send you money in confidence, I have to feel confident that this is a legitimate business that operates with transparency. Why can they not tell me who the boss is? I called again yesterday on a different number that I found on the internet, and Monika found two more applications in the mail room. Now we are still missing one. She also told me her supervisor would call me within 24-48 hours. I don't think sending in new forms is the answer. I am having doubts about your plan working well because of the inefficiency so far. Since College Choice plans are limited by my state, I don’t have the option to go to your competition. I need to look into who else I can contact. I am having doubts about sending money to you or getting money out at some point in the future. If you have such a disaster of a mailroom, I don't know if it is a good business decision to have you manage money for my grandchildren. --Review fromSherry M

Dealing with this company to rightfully receive my 401k distribution has been all but a good experience. It has been an appalling experience. This review is for both Future Plan and Ascensus, the parent company.I sent my request to Future Plan back in April 2023. Initially, I filled out the required paperwork for distribution, had my former employer sign it, and then emailed it to Future Plan. I did not receive any feedback about my paperwork, so I contacted Future Plan to inquire about the hold. Future Plan's customer service is awful. Several times I called, I was either placed on hold for long periods or told someone would call me back. Here it is September, and I have not received my 401k distribution. I contacted my former employer and was told they have had no success getting anyone on the phone or emails answered. There is a record of a chain of emails sent to the plan provider and account representative, ****, and still no resolution. Both Future Plan and Ascensus have grossly and flagrantly disregarded my distribution request and other former employees at the same company where I worked. This clearly is a company that does not provide competence in handling its customers' needs, disregards calls and emails, and ignores doing the job and tasks they are retained to perform. Ascensus and Future Plan should not be in business!Ascensus

They do not perform wires, but they will charge you a fee for sending you a check with your own money. They will send 2 checks instead of 1 in order to get more money out of you, but first they will send it to a completely different state. When they reissue your checks to the correct address, they will add a $40 reissue fee to each check. Taking $100 form you for no good reason. This is a horrid company that is going to squeeze every ***** out of you that they can.Ascensus

I apologize that your experience withdrawing your funds did not meet your expectations and I regret you were unhappy with the fees charged to process your distribution. Ascensus has a contractual agreement with your former employer where all the fees we charge are listed and agreed to. Included are the check reissue fees you mentioned. During your participation in the plan, you were not charged any trustee or custodial fees by Ascensus Trust. Many trust companies charge asset-based fees or deduct fees at least annually. The only fees you were charged by Ascensus Trust were the fees taken at the time of your distribution. Ascensus Trust only issues separate checks when separate tax records are required and all distributions are mailed to the address we have on file for you. Please also know that even if we had wired the money, you would have still been charged the same fees. Im sorry this wasnt better communicated to you while you were requesting your distribution.Review fromSonya W

I would not recommend this company if you need your money fast. I requested a loan explaining that I had $4.00 at the time to my name. I did everything to expedite this process. I was approved on Wednesday, July 18th and I am still awaiting my funds. I called several times and have been told nothing but lies. I was told direct deposit was the fastest, but it doesn't appear that way. I'm highly disappointed in this process and pray I never have to use them again. ***************************Ascensus

1 starTerrible service between Vanguard ****** ********* (Vanguard Partner). They are unable to do anything together, nor can they do anything electronically for rollover from Vanguard ****** to Vanguard (Acensus Trust). They are partners and Acensus maintains seperate accounts and each company tells you to call the other support line. Aggravating.Terrible service and process. Nothing against the support service folks, these process decisions come from department heads.******* says, it will take up to 24h to have a form emailed. Just terrible service.Review fromJudith A

This company is nightmare to work with. Id give 0 stars if I could. I have been attempting to withdraw my 403b since May 18th.Ive spoken with several agents at the company, and each provides me with a different answer. Ive been made to sign and send paperwork multiple times. I was advised to take out a loan, then a partial withdrawal, then a full withdrawal.I provided my wire information last week. I am not receiving updates, and have not received any helpful information when speaking with customer service. This ********************** has given me the runaround for several weeks. Yet, I have no concrete answers. I am disappointed in the way this has been handled. No one seems to know what theyre doing hereAscensus

Not a good company to work with. I left my company, and submitted the rollover form twice including all the information needed for an electronic transfer to my fund manager, but Ascensus decided to mail me a check instead, just so that they could charge $15 for a "check fee" and $45 for "distribution fee". Complete BS. This place is not well run, impossible to reach anyone or get help. I would not recommend doing business with them.Ascensus

1 starI strongly urge anyone reading this to not do business with this crooked company at all. If they somehow bought a company you were associated with, leave as soon as possible. These people set up a retirement plan for me in late 2022 and yet tried to charge me administration fees going all the way back to January 2021. They obviously did nothing during that. Because the plan didn’t exist, but they sent me to a debt collector within 14 days of me refusing to pay a bill but I did not understand. I ultimately closed the retirement plan just to get away from this crooked rotten company. Stay away from this company!
