Jordan tax service filed a lien on my property in February 2023 and sent me a 30 day notice. It is over $1000 for 2017-2022 garbage fees I never received bills for and assumed were included in my escrow. It took 3 attempts to get a response from them. When I spoke with the responsible party in their office on 4/12/23 she told me they didn’t bill me because I had an active chapter 13 which had been filed in 2017. She said they were not allowed to bill me and I should have contacted them to find out what I owe, even though I thought it was in my escrow. I emailed again today and explained to them per my attorney the chapter 13 did not prevent them from billing me for current services. She is now responding that she didn’t state that, they did bill me and a lien was already filed anyway. They refuse to drop the fees back to what I actually owe them - which should be under $400 and should
NOT include 2017 the pre-chapter 13 services anyway. She also refused to tell me when these supposed bills were sent to me (when yesterday she told me they weren’t). Currently they are telling me I owe $960.53 plus $500+ in court costs attorney and Sheriff fees.Initial Complaint

I just received a delinquent note from Jordan Tax for past due garbage bills from 2019. They claim I didn’t pay my garbage bill for the last three quarters of 2019. They are asking for the $67 per quarter payment plus an additional $118.27 in interest charges and “attorney” fees. I received no bills for these charges in 2019. I believe they were never sent to me. After checking my bill for the first quarter of 2020, it show that there are no past due payments due. This company waited over 3 years to claim these charges while growing interest and fees. The threatening lien notice from charges from 2019 was sent in February of 2023. When asked why I had bills with zero past due charges, Jordan Tax told me that the bill resets every year and does not show past due balances. This is absolute theft from this company and I believe it is intentional in order to gouge tax payers. When do you ever get a bill that does not show the total amount owed? Why would any company not include past due balances on their invoices unless is was an intentional scheme to rip off consumers. Why would I pay anything other that what was shown on my invoice? I have paid this bill because I don’t want this fraudulent company to place a lien on my home as they threatened. I would like to have the service charges, interest and attorney fee refunded to me. I also want to make other people aware of this company’s fraudulent practices of making themselves profits from shady practices of withholding real amounts owed in order to make more money.Initial Complaint

I h*** a problem where I h*** insisted that my Sewage Bill be sent to my house instead of **** * *********** house who lives on the other side of town. **** ********* lives at *** ********** ***** Pittsburgh PA *****. I live at *** ****** *** Pittsburgh PA *****. With my sewage bill being sent to Mr. *********** house I feel that all of grant money I have has not been applied to my account. Which has resulted in a higher sewage bill every month for me, I can not afford a lien to be put on my house and every month my sewage bill is very high. I get one check a month. I have 2 grandchildren that live me and one is school age. I have asked Jordan Tax Services in Downtown Pittsburgh to transfer my sewage bill my address and have refused to do so. I feel that if they were to transfer the sewage bill to my address it may result in lower bills. I can not afford to pay $700.00 to $ 800.00 a month for sewage and would that my grant money has been spent on my address.Business Response

Jordan Tax Service, Inc. is retained by the Borough of Mt. Oliver to prepare and collect the sewage billing charges. The Borough requires us by their Ordinance to bill the home owners of the property. The Borough requires this as the homeowner is the one that is ultimately responsible for the charges if they are not paid.

Moved in property June 2021. December 2021 landlord did not give us any sewage water and trash only. We get no steady bill and obscene charges for things that dont make sense. Terrible customer service and I am not paying a $624 when $513 was owed and 200$ paid 2 wks ago yet they resent a new bill with random added fees and charges that don’t make sense. The bill is not in my name and legally they will only send a copy of a script that makes NO sense on a spread sheet they use and their reps understand but no actual bill to prove that these fees are valid. $183 for a borough of Avalon treatment that apparently occurred two wks ago. I think not landlord failed to give a bill for 8 months then suggested to get all copy’s of bills. I can’t. Jordan has horrible customer service and since they don’t seem to care and the landlord sees this as normal and couldn’t care less o assist while also using my electricity I guess I don’t have to care either. I sent the other half of my school tax payment and they sent it back to me. Instead of just sending me a "balance due" notice (which i expected) they sent me the whole thing!! We are 66 and 73 - I really think they could take whatever we pay when we pay. School taxes are a joke anyhow; the kids just keep getting dumber every year and neither of us EVER had any kids in the school district. Property taxes and stormwater taxes are enough, no wonder the elderly are considered at poverty levels.Initial Complaint

Company sewage bills got charged interest because of mailing delay. Checks and postage were postmarked for a date before the due date. Jordan Tax Service did not enter the check into the system in a timely manner and charged the company late fees and interest. Patty B****** for Jordan Tax Service was VERY rude, gave the wrong policy information and will not help at ALL.Initial Complaint

I sent a check for property taxes and school taxes. One week goes by so I called Jordan tax service to ask why the check was not cashed yet. The lady on the phone said because it takes two weeks to process a payment. So I say two weeks to cash a check? She says Yep. I said is that so you can charge me the extra 10% after the 31st of this month.
She says exactly. And hangs up on me. And then now will not answer the phone.Business Response

We would need the area that the taxpayer is trying to pay to research for the proper response. The only address I could find for the taxpayer was in the City of Pittsburgh and School District of Pittsburgh. We only collect delinquent taxes for that area and the current taxes are collected by the City of Pittsburgh. Since this account is not trying to pay delinquent taxes maybe the contacted or spoke to a different agency.
As far as processing goes, we try to keep as current as possible.

I sold my house on May 6th, 2022 and the sewage company owes me $88.16, which I still have not received. I called Jordan Tax the 3rd week of May to inquire about the balance owed to me. A woman told me that it would automatically be processed in about a month. I receive another bill on 6/21/22 stating that I have a balance owed to me of $88.16, so I called the office (most likely that day) and asked about it. The woman I spoke to this time told me that they are not automatically sent and that she would get it processed and confirmed my address for the check. On 7/29/22, I still have no check, so I called again and spoke with another woman. She informed me that her manage is out on vacation and then got Covid and he is the person that issues the checks; she said they were hoping he was back soon and said she put it on his desk with a note. When I called today, I spoke with a woman named Patty (refused to give me her or her manager's last names) and she said he is still out and there is nothing they can do. She said he is the only person in the entire company who issues those checks so we are at a standstill until he comes back, with no return date known. I asked if there was someone above him and she said no. I asked if there was a stack on his desk waiting to be processed and she said yes. I have been trying to get this resolved for 7 weeks and am told a different story/procedure every time I call.Customer Answer
