This is my first day wearing this garbage. I don't know how this thing was medically approved but, its not worth it.

Among patients with a recent myocardial infarction and an ejection fraction of 35% or less, the wearable cardioverter–defibrillator did not lead to a significantly lower rate of the primary outcome of arrhythmic death than control. (Funded by the National Institutes of Health and Zoll Medical; VEST **************.gov number, ************ From 2018, is a scam and the cardiologists are getting kickbacks. My personal experience (from 2019) is as bad as the rest. It is garbage and any doctor who recommends it has an ulterior motive as there is no evidence it does a damn thing. Recently, they had a data breach as the icing on the cake of incompetence! Giving away our personal info.

I spent 11 days in the hospital after having congestive heart failure and A fib. I was still a very sick person when I was discharged at the end of October. I was told I needed to wear a ZOLL defibrillator vest for three months. It was a miserable experience. In December I received a bill for $554.57. After calling my insurance company I discovered ZOLL billed them over $4000 dollars and they allowed over $2700 paid by them, My copay was the amount of my bill. My statement conveniently DID NOT have a date of service on it. I thought it was a terribly high copay for three months, but I wrote them a check for the $554.57 anyway. To my surprise I received a similar bill from ZOLL the next month. That was their MONTHLY charge to me and the insurance company. I called them complaining and the transferred me to their customer assistance ***** After showing proof of income they reduced the last two months to $66.55 each, which I haven't paid yet. They won't do anything about the money I've already sent. Leaving the date of service off of the first bill was very deceptive and I think intentional. I would have taken it off then if I realized it was that expensive. I would never recommend this company to anyone. And I wish I could rate them below a one.

I was all dressed and packed, ready to be discharged after 6 days in the hospital on the 25th of march, 2023. The nurse came in and told me the doctor would not discharge be until i got fitted for the Zoll Life Vest. I told her i did not want that Life Vest. She said it again. They will not discharge you. I told her i would walk out then, and the hell with them. But then i called a friend, he told me my insurance might not pay the hospital bill if i left without a proper discharge. So i went back to my room and sent message to nurse that i would wait for the Zoll people. I did. They showed up about 5pm. It took them 2 hours to fit me with Life vest and sign me up. They gave me unsigned papers with o names except mine. Also my discharge papers from hospital had no doctors names or anything on them. I got out of there quickly and went home. I got the Vest off and got the batteries disconnected. I looked at the Zoll comoany online. F rating with the BBB, and many many one star reviews. That was enough for me to see the writing on the wall. Next day, sunday on March 26th. I sent Zoll Life Vest back to Zoll about 12:30pm via UPS. I packed everything into their box and took a 100 pictures as i packed it. I then called Zoll and told them i was rescinding our deal. They just asked that i call my Cardiologist and let him know, which i did. He's not my cardio now. lol. Im 70 years old and i make my own decisions about my healthcare, and choose my doctors. I feel the Life Vest is not a viable medical device. And from reviews its obvious that some insurance companies agree. Much more i feel the Life Vest is a scam with lots of bells and whistles. It can burn you and electrocute you. No Thanks doctor. So they held me 5 hours against my will just as the did others on these reviews. Forced my to sign an agreement with a disreputable company, and basically violated my constitutional rights. They need to stop treating Senior Citizens in the manner and my goal is to stop them.

Same story as others on here. ***** was in the hospital for heart issues and they would not release him unless he got this vest, he was assured insurance would pay but they have declined the claim. Now we may owe around ****** for 3 months of wearing it.

I spent 3 weeks in 2 different hospitals for kidney failure. Not for heart issues, yet the hospital required that I wear this life jacket in order to discharge me which I thought was absurd. At the time of discharge, I was told that the Zoll sales rep would not be able to bring the jacket to the hospital for several days due to the weekend of Easter holiday. This in turn cost me several more days in the hospital with cost. When the rep finally did show up, he was in a hurry and rushed me to sign various forms in a dark hospital room without knowledge of cost to me. I was a uninsured patient and all cost to me was out of pocket for just the hospital expenses which I thought the jacket was part of. I only wore the jacket for less than 2 hours in order to get released from the hospital. The jacket was way undersized and kept giving errors, so I removed it and returned it asap. A month later I get a bill from Zoll for $8650.00! I was in total disbelief that a company would take such advantage of a patient that was uninsured. I spent my entire life savings just to pay the doctors and hospitals with no funds left to pay their outrageous bill for a device that was never needed in the first place. Now they want to send to collections, then sue me for the funds which I don't have due to being disabled. This will ruin my hard earned credit rating. They are a evil company taking advantage of hospital recommendations and should be sued for their predatorial billing practices. The hospitals and parties involved should give the patient a risk waiver form for discharge if they refuse to wear the jacket. I believe a judge in court would approve of this and force the hospitals and Zoll to offer such a risk waiver by law.
