On May 9, 2023, a month and 3 days after purchasing a monthly Executive Spa car wash package from All Washed Up Auto Spa in Munhall, PA, my van's bumper was deeply scratched and CRACKED during the car wash. I had been through this car wash multiple times, and had noticed 2 other bumper damaging events after having left the car wash. I couldn't attribute these other damages to anything else, but I didn't notice them at the car wash to be certain. After I went through the wash on May 9th, I was drying my van with the courtesy towels provided [as soap is always left on my van--my return call unanswered] and the dryer doesn't really dry much. I got to my rear passenger side bumper and freaked out!!! My van is still NEW to ME--and I was showing the customer next to me (passenger side). I frantically called my mom as I was with my van in a safe place all day. After drying my van, I proceeded to the office to ask for a picture of my van before I went through the carwash. I got one picture of my van on the way into the car wash. NO VISABLE DAMAGE. The employee that provided the form said I would hear from the claims department or manager within 7 days. Day 7--I call and ask for the manager who inaudibly says his name a second time, and tells me he'll call me the following day. I have the voicemail saved--there is NO PROOF this happened on their property...a 3 foot sign about scratches. I wouldn't expect swirl marks to be covered for a NOT touchless car wash. My rear bumper is CRACKED and the clips for the side are messed up. There is no option to speak with corporate, and the "manager" didn't leave his name on the voicemail. It is CLEAR AS DAY that my vehicle was NOT DAMAGED upon entering this car wash, and WAS AFTERWARDS as I remained on the property for AN HOUR afterwards! I was not even so much as refunded my monthly payments. I have additional time-stamped pictures of my vehicle. I will NOT pay for my insurance to cover this as "manager" said.

On Behalf of All Washed Up Auto Spa, In Response to the BBB complaint filed by ********* *******

At All Washed Up Auto Spa all claims of damage are taken seriously and reviewed by our claims department before making a final determination on the claim.

After thorough review of *** ******** use of our Munhall car wash on May 9th, 2023 the claims department determined there were no mechanical or operational malfunctions that could have caused the deep gouges and scrapes on the vehicle.

Upon further review on May 9th at our Munhall location over 300 other vehicles used our car wash before and after *** ****** without incident.

Upon denial of a claim our managers are trained to give the final determination of the claim to the customer. They are also trained to reference our damage disclaimer sign posted at the entrance of our washes.

We understand your frustration with the determination of the claim.  We are very confident that our car wash did not cause the damage in question.

      Thank you,

      All Washed Up Auto Spa

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Despite denying mechanical malfunctions, there is video footage in which it is CLEAR there was no damage to the passenger side bumper of my vehicle as I entered the car wash.  I saw the damage while drying my vehicle ON THE PROPERTY of the car was.  There was another customer whom I'd parked next to.  Neither he nor I damaged my vehicle, so the damage was obviously done by the carwash itself.  I don't understand how this obvious video footage of my entire hour spent at this car wash does not prove that the damage was done in the duration of time that my vehicle was inside the wash tunnel.  That is unbelievable to me, and I do not accept that this business will not be held liable to repair my bumper.

      Regards,

      ********* ******

The claim was thoroughly reviewed by our claims department before making a determination. The video does not show the damage in question at the entrance of the tunnel or at the exit of the tunnel. The damage complaint stated that fender clips were loose on the passenger rear passenger side, which would likely happen if the vehicle had backed into something. The deep scratch/gouge is on the underside of the fender on the very corner of the vehicle (one small isolated location),  again this would be the first point of contact with a lower lying object if the vehicle had backed into something.  We have not had any similar claims of damage at the Munhall location before or after this damage claim was taken. We have not had similar claims of damage at any of our 6 locations, ever. We understand that you do not agree with the determination, and hope you are able to find the true cause of damage to your vehicle.

I did not question claims from any other customers or locations.  I would like a copy of the video from the time I arrived at the paystation until the time I left the car wash property.  As YOU ALSO stated, there was NO DAMAGE to my vehicle prior to me entering the car wash.  The damage isn't JUST on the underside of my bumper.  I went through the car wash, drove forward into a vacuuming/drying spot, and did NOT drive in reverse until I did so to leave the property AFTER filing the claim.  The damage occurred on your property and was NOT caused by me driving in reverse.

I purchased the highest wash, $25.00 was charged to my card. My License plate number is ******* **** **** ** *****. I went thought the wash at approximately 3:30pm 3/8/23. After the wash, I was drying the excess water with the complementary towels and started to work my way around the car. I got to the front passenger side and saw awful scratches I will include photos. Scratches are on my front passenger fender, passenger windshield panel, passenger door, and the back passenger fender. I filed a damage claim with the company and the next day they requested I return to the carwash so they can take more photos. Which I did do. They following up with me on 3/14 stating that the car wash brushes move horizontally and not vertically like the scratches are on my vehicle, also that the scratches would be the whole way down my car not in a certain spot. I am waiting to hear from a higherup within the company about this matter. No comments were mentioned on how my vehicle was not damaged before entering the wash and was damaged after the wash. No comments were made about how the carwash brushes could have had debris stuck in them during that section or the wash and then flung away. The wash also did not shut down the carwash and examine the wash before sending other vehicles though. I can guaranteed this is not the first time someone’s vehicle has been damaged. The fact of the matter is that my vehicle was damaged and I feel they did not take the time to throughly investigate. Multiple quotes on the cost to fix the damage was $960-1,200. I will upload 4 photos taken after this happened.

      To whom it may concern,

Regarding *** ********* ********** On 3/8/23 a damage claim was called in over the phone by a man on behalf of ****** ********. He stated that there was scratches on *** ********** **** **** ** after using the All Washed Up Auto Spa location in Harmar that afternoon. They were directed to return to the car wash to file a damage claim report and have photos taken of the damage in question. *** ******** returned to the location in Harmar and a attendant took the report and photos of the damage in question. The site manager reviewed the photos and claim and requested that *** ******** return to the site so that he could take additional photos of the damage. All of the Photos and surveillance footage of *** ****** using the car wash were copied and reviewed by the claims department.

After reviewing the video *** ******** uses the car wash then proceeds to park at a vacuum stall and uses a microfiber towel to dry off the entire vehicle, including the areas of stated damage. *** ****** then returns the towel, gets in her vehicle and leaves the car wash location, without notifying an employee on site of any damage. The video evidence shows no damage to *** ********** vehicle before using the wash or after using the wash when the vehicle is being dried by hand.

The determination to deny the claim was made due to the fact that video evidence before and after the wash shows no damage to the vehicle. The photos taken of the damage also show deep vertical scratches in a single section of the vehicle. That section of the vehicle is washed by wraps that spin horizontally.

332 customers used the car wash in Harmar before and after *** ******** without incident on 3/8/23.  3,164 have used our wash in Harmar from 3/1/23 to 3/14/23 without incident. We are extremely confident that this damage was not caused by the car wash.

When a company representative called to give *** ******** the claim determination she became upset. She finally requested a refund, but given the video evidence of no damage prior to or after  *** ******** using the car wash,  hand drying the vehicle (including the areas with the damage in question), then proceeding to leave the location without any reports of damage we were unable to issue a refund. At that point *** ******** and another man on her end of the line began to swear and curse at the company representative which resulted in the call being ended.

We take all claims seriously and review all possible information before making a claim determination.

I have accepted that I will not be receiving compensation from All Washed Up Auto Spa. I feel at this point my part still needs to be shared.

A man from the claims department did reach out to me as I requested, the man I spoke to said that there is absolutely no possible way that there could’ve been debris stuck in their brushes. The technology is too advanced for that.
My concern is, there is absolutely no way to be 100% certain that there was no debris stuck in their brushes. Something could’ve been picked up from a previous car.
Just admit a fluke can happen…that circumstances can happen which results in unexpected accidents.

The damage to my vehicle is in all sorts of directions. Not just vertically.
I also am in complete disbelief that the camera’s did not see damage to my vehicle.
The cameras that can notice license plates no matter the condition (dirtiness or flaking away) simply did not see any clearly visible damages to my vehicle? They definitely observed me taking a look/ drying my vehicle while reviewing the footage after that wash..
I can also guaranteed if they saw me drying off my vehicle they can see the absolute disbelief in my facial expression when I wiped the damage.

I will take responsibility for leaving after I noticed the damage. I should’ve reported it immediately but my emotions took over. Utter-disbelief, panic, fear, and anger!
My symphony goes out to the people who don’t check over their vehicles once going through the wash. I wonder how many other people have gone through, and not taken a look at their vehicles and notice when it’s days or weeks later. Furthermore, the conversation I had with the representative of the company was disrespectful and unprofessional. Such as, cutting me off, talking over me, and hanging up the phone when I was calmly going through my series of questions.
To end that: I’m not here to explain the disrespect, unprofessionalism, or comment on someone’s character. I am reaching out to the BBB to express my concerns regarding the business damaging customers property and not taking just responsibility for their actions, to save other paying customers paint / property, and so customers can protect their investments.
Since the incident, I have had quite a few previous customers of this carwash reach out to me with similar stories, and they claim their reports were brushed off just as lightly. Again, It’s unbelievable to me that they are so extremely confident that the wash did not have any type of debris (from a previous vehicle or a malfunction, etc) and that the cameras did not show any evidence. Perhaps ask one of the two men who guided me into the wash to see if they saw any visible damage?

Even better yet, I suggest for all future customers sake, have the employees (guiding cars into the carwash) wave at the cameras if they see damage to a vehicle prior to entering the wash. I will stand by my statement that my vehicle was NOT damaged before entering this wash and WAS damaged when exiting.
That’s that, I do not wish to hear back from the carwash at this point / any point forward unless they are fixing my vehicle.

      Regards,

      ****** ********

I charged 26.45$ for unlimited monthly car washes at this business. In mid December I noticed that since February 2022, this business has been double charging every month for the last 10 months. I called the Canonsburg location and spoke with an employee, who was extremely rude and who kept telling me “that doesn’t happen,” when I told him my card was double charged. I then told him to CANCEL any future charges … he asked me for my last 4 digits of my card and said it was cancelled. I then called what I thought, was their corporate number and left a message explaining my issue… a few days later, the owner BRAD, for the Canonsburg location called and left me a message saying he would call me the following day, but he never did… I then called my bank to start the dispute process. Tonight, 1-9-2023, I checked my account, and found ANOTHER charge on my card from this business!!! I want the charges to stop.. I’d LIKE to get my Money back, over $650 worth of charges, 1/2 of those are fraudulent.. but I know that’s unlikely.
