      I've had Amica auto insuance for 50 years. My rates went up a lot this year despite having an old car & no accidents for many years. So I checked these bbb ratings. I always thought Amica was a fantastic company. **************** was excellent, as well as rates & coverage. I haven't needed their help for many years so don't know whether that's changed. Just thought I should give a good rating to one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. I will likely renew this *********** Amica maintains it's 'personal' ***************** excellence.

      WHY WOULD ANYONE USE AMICA??? 1 STAR ON THE BBB???Friend went into assisted living because of memory. I as his POA called Amica told them vehicle was not being used to cancel policy. They suggested I keep vehicle insured under hail/wind until the current $ amount left on policy was used at such time they would cancel the policy.Then I start receiving past due notice's.I called them 5 get that FIVE times. They promise to call back. No call backs!!I call them again, and for the **** time explain that the car is sitting to stop and backdate as originally agreed upon. Was told they can't remove coverage unless I send them something stating the vehicle is no longer registered. I explain AGAIN!! that the vehicle is sitting and the owner has been in assisted living for the past 6 months. This went on for 15+ minutes, them trying to get money for a policy that was requested to be stopped 6 months ago.Finally got tired of arguing with the **** and told her they were getting NO MORE MONEY AND TO TAKE US TO ******** which time she said, well just to let you know the car is no longer insured!! Directly contradicting what she had been arguing for the last 15 minutes. (can't stop insurance unless you send proof of no registration) What ever that is!! Wouldn't accept proof he has been in assisted living and has a *** order telling him he can't drive!!This company is a thieving, lying insurance company. Look at the ratings on BBB 1 star and it would be 0 if you were allowed; AND THEY DON'T CARE..Since this communist government has made car insurance and banks that hold loans on homes mandatory these insurance companies raise and raise rates, refuse to cancel policies (unless your roof is over 9 years old regardless of condition, at which point they raise the rates or cancel you) and refuse to pay out on claims unless you take them to court. AMICA IS ONE OF THE WORST!!!

      Very disappointing. After receiving a solicitation letter with a special customer code for a Homeowners ********************** quote, I call their number with the special code, and after giving all information requested, including personal info such as birth dates, etc., The representative informs me they do not write insurance in my city. What a waste of time. But I am glad to discover this company is totally incompetent before I purchased a policy from them. Don't send letters promising a special insurance quote offering when you have no intention of providing insurance. What a waste of time.

      BEWARE-Don't use them. I got divorced and tried to have my ex wife removed from my policy and it took them 6 months and hours of phone calls to get our policies adjusted. I have a 2014 ***** Civic with a premium of $496.00 for no reason went to over $900. This was after they made an error and billed me over $9000 for a car that is over 10 years old. To top it off I had a tire blow our while traveling on the I-95 that caused minor damage to the fender of my F350 and the dinged my driving record with an AT FAULT ACCIDENT. There was NO accident, I simply had a tire blow out. I am no young driver with a clean driving record that has insurance with Amica for over 8 years and this is how they treat me. When I disputed the claim for the accident they told me it was my fault. I am seeking new insurance and will be telling all my friends and family to beware.

      I contacted Amica to obtain a quote for home and auto. Initially the customer service *** was cordial and timely in her responses. I decided to move forward with them and the *** said they needed to begin the underwriting process. After asking me about an old claim, the *** disappeared. I sent an email asking for an update but never heard back. I was left hanging with only two days before my existing insurance was ending. Fortunately,I had back up quotes and signed on with another company. Amica prides themselves on how much they care about their customers but this appears to be smoke and mirrors. This customer service experience was terrible. As as a real estate professional, I wont be recommending Amica to anyone. If you cant communicate properly, I can only imagine how poorly a claim would be handled.

      I have had the worst possible experience with customer service handling claims for my ********************************************* auto policy. They assigned me an agent who was on vacation. No one ever contacted me. They put all calls into a call center. No one is able to do anything. My car was totalled and I was injured. No one followed up with me for a long time. I continually tried to call the agent whose name I was given. She was never available and her message said to call the main phone number and press "0." I cannot believe that this company has a high rating with BBB.

      I asked for a quote on a new Kia **** with all the safety features. The Agent seemed confused as to the **** being a truck or a car. He also couldn't understand its a 2025 not a 2024. He then couldn't find my address. So he put me on hold, then comes back and says the quote will be emailed to me. The quote came and is a disgrace. Decades of Safe Driving no tickets, continuous car insurance, decent credit score. My rate almost $3000 for 6 months of only minimum full coverage in ******. My coverage with *********** for same coverage is $900. I had heard Amica is the snob of Insurers. I can see why. They obviously are selective about who they insure, They give these unfair quotes so certain people will go elsewhere. I would not do business with Amica. I can see right through their manner of doing business. Its blatantly obvious.

      I just found out that Amica is charging me more than $100/year (more than 2-percent of what I pay for insurance a year) just to get paper copies of bills and insurance policies for my house, car and an umbrella liability policy. I have been a policy holder for more than 25 years and have recommended the company to others, but find this policy discriminatory and unfair for senior citizens, small business owners and others who still need paper copies to keep track of their policies and expenses. Company representatives I have talked to claim this is not an extra charge, just a 2-percent discount for those who don't get paper, but the reality is that I am paying 2-percent more than those other customers. The ********************** **** claim this is being done for environmental reasons, but it also being done to save them more money to the detriment of those who need paper records. It still mails out paper advertisements! I recycle all of the used paper in my house and stopped receiving paper copies of my newspapers years ago for environmental reasons. Don't discriminate against your longtime loyal policy holders. Amica, you are better than this.

      My vehicle was vandalized and my insurance company immediately assumed I had something to do with it despite the fact I had a police report and a suspect. I went to the euo for two hours to present my facts, paperwork, and records. My claim was later denied because they said I misrepresented documents (I was asked at the euo if I filed bankruptcy) which I answered no to. Apparently, theres a woman who has the same name as me in a different town who filed four times. My daughters birth certificate proved I didnt have that last name during the year that her bankruptcys were filed so I had to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a lawyerthey almost instantly settled once they found out I got a lawyer. Im only kicking myself in the **** now for not allowing my lawyer to file the motions against the insurance for bad buisness practices because I wouldve got 3X what I ended up getting. They falsified the examination/Analysis of my car, and lied about many things that I was more than excited to prove! I dont trust them nor will I ever recommend them. MAPFRE and Geico were better insurance companies that Ive used in the past and moving forward will consider going back to one of them.

      I called for a renters quote, I have NO homeowners claims, but I was denied basic renters insurance due to a loss on a completely unrelated insurance policy that has no relevance or bearing on my renters policy nor did it have anything to do with my previous homeowners policy. That's so illegal it makes me sick. The agent literally searched my life history to pull up a claim from the past on an unrelated type of insurance. But wait! It gets worse. They won't stop emailing me sales-related emails and reminding me to keep trying for the renters policy. I found a stronger company for my renters coverage and I will not be requesting a homeowners or auto policy from Amica when I purchase my next home. That's also highly illegal -- companies can't send sales emails without customer consent, they must stop sending the emails once the customer unsubscribes, and they can't require customers to call in (and spend 20+ minutes on the phone) to cancel the harassing sales emails. I feel so let down to have thought Amica was a trustworthy and honest insurance company just to find out Amica is a lying, predatory, sales-driven organization.
