My complaint relates to Dowdlesports.com. I placed an order March 7, 2024 according to their website, was in stock(Order number: B123375). I then received an email that indicated sold out of the product on my order. And ask me cancel order or back ordered for approximately 9-12 weeks,I reply :ok,place my order on back order,and Dowdlesports charged US$81.53(Converted to Canadian dollars113.68) from my credit card on March 7, 2024;Until June 6, 2024 I don't got anything from my order ,On that date I sent email ask Dowdlesports cancel my order and refund , until June 12, 2024 that I received a reply from customer service that indicated the order was canceled and refund will be process. To date ( as of July 8, 2024) no refund has been received. I sent another three mail ,no reply, No one answers the phone when you call.Seeing so many similar complaints, I can't believe they have been doing this for so long.Business Response

Company accepted a backorder and charged credit card. After 10 months, no product. Emailed to cancel order, received confirmation, but no credit to card. Subsequent email resulted in can't return to card, because of time frame (why not say that previously). Could either provide email for paypal payment or receive store credit. My complaint relates to ****** Sports and & Outdoors. I placed an order November 7, 2022 and received a confirmation. The order was for ammunition that, according to their website, was in stock. I then received an email that indicated it was placed on back order. I patiently awaited notice that it was in stock and was to be shipped to no avail. Upon inquiry, on August 28, 2023, I was informed that my order remained on back order. On that date I requested that my order be canceled and that a refund be issued. It was not until September 20, 2023 that I received a reply from customer service that indicated the order was canceled and that they were not able to issue an automatic refund on the original charge due to the passage of time. They indicated that they could instantly refund me through PayPal and requested the email address associated with my PayPal Account. I sent them my wife's account on September 20, 2023. I requested that they notify me when the credit was sent/processed. To date ( as of March 1, 2024) no refund has been received. I sent another inquiry. I await receipt of the sum of $219.15. In reviewing other complaints, it appears as though there is a pattern that has developed over time with the referenced entity. No one answers the phone when you call.Business Response

Thank you for the communication. We did find an order #B108570 in our system that is for a ****** "*****" with your address so not sure if that discrepancy has resulted in delaying a response to any previous correspondence. Regardless, we are unable to directly refund your original charge transaction due to the amount of time that has passed since the original pre-order charge date of 11-9-2022. We did cancel the order when requested and replied with an explanation as to why we cannot refund the original transaction. This is time limit is a standard imposed on us by the payment card industry and is beyond our control or ability to override. On the rare occasion when this becomes an issue, we have found a work-around by using PayPal. PayPal does not cost you anything and we can instantly transfer the refund to your account. All you have to do is go to paypal.com and create and account associated with your email address. It is quick and easy. Once the account is set up, just let us know and we will send the funds immediately (within business hours). You can have PayPal transfer the money directly to your bank account or mail your a check. As mentioned, there is not cost to you and you do not have to maintain any funds or other requirements for the PayPal account. In fact, you can close if after you receive your funds.
Please reply and let us know when your account is created and confirm the associated email address and we will send your refund.

As previously stated, it is impossible to refund the original charge on your card. If you are unwilling to receive the money through PayPal, the only other option we have is to have our bank mail you a check. I am rejecting this response because:I do not believe you have not received the payment. It was placed in he mail the same day it was purchased. Why would a company email offering to fill an order with a substitute item or cancel/refund if a substitute item was not acceptable if they had not been paid? Another reason I do do not believe the payment was not been received is what company would attempt to set up shipment of an item from a manufacturer directly to a customer prior to receiving payment? Further online investigation will show that this is a regular issue with ****** Sports in all aspects from failure to communicate, to purchases not being delivered and emails almost identical to mine.

We apologize for any confusion regarding our previous response. For efficiency, we have several customer service form emails that are used to respond to various scenarios. The one you received was appropriate detailing the back order nature of the product you wanted to purchase. It is more often used when an order that cannot be immediately filled is received and paid for by credit card. If the customer replies asking us to cancel the order, the order is canceled and the credit card payment authorization is voided so the customer is not charged.
Since your order was not paid with a credit card, we can understand how you could arrive at the assumptions in your rejection of our previous response. We did check again today for any receipt of a money order or cashier's check and still, have not received any payment by mail for this order. If payment was mailed, a couple of questions come to mind. Did you send it to our ** Box **** as specified in our published policies? Mail delivery to our physical location is not always reliable, which is why we use the ** Box for receiving payments. Also, as stated in our previous response, you should be able to verify with the issuer of your payment method, if the payment has been processed, deposited or cleared. We do apologize for the inconvenience, but are confident that we have not received any payment for your order as of today.

I am rejecting this response because:I'm only rejecting the response so as to answer the questions left by the company. No I sent the payment to your physical address as that is the only one that showed up during check out.
I checked, no the money order has not been cashed but they want roughly 33% of its value to cancel and refund it. That coupled with the time to drive an hour and 40 miles to the closest post office at the current cost of diesel would almost completely utilize any refund that they would offer making it a futile effort.
I guess we will just leave things where they are. I'm out money from making a bad business decision. there are numerous negative reviews that I have no reason to remove or change. The bbb can close their case and I will wish the company better luck with how they handle business in the future.

On November 8, 2022, I placed an order with ****** ***************** via dowdlesports.com for five (5) boxes of Winchester Ammo Super-X 22 Short Black Powder Blanks - Box of 50 (Order #: B108632). The cost of the order was $164.30. I paid for these with my credit card.On November 9, 2022, I was notified by ****** Sports, "We have sold out of the product on your order. Unfortunately, our system allowed orders to be placed even after these became unavailable. We also attempted to have our supplier ship this direct to you, but they are back ordered for approximately **** weeks." -- I opted to hold my place in line for delivery.After 12 weeks, on February 1, 2023, I reached back out to ****** to inquire about the status of the order, as I had heard no word for the past three months, nor had any delivery occurred. The following day, ******** customer service alerted me to the fact that "no additional updates regarding ETA are available." -- Again, I opted to hold my place in line.On October 18, 2023 - 49 weeks after placing the order - I reached out to ****** Sports once again. This time, I alerted the business that I would like a refund if there was still no delivery date in sight. -- ******** customer service responded the same day, noting that "To date, none of these blanks have become available." I ordered from Dowdlesports.com, Order number B117456 on June 6, 2023 and was told product was out of stock so I agreed to place product on Backorder. I inquired 1 time and was told the item was still on backorder. I decided to cancel the backorder and get my $139.48 back. Sent 2 emails and nothing. No response nothing. I see many other issues with this company.Business Response

However, based on your complaint with the BBB, we were able to stop the shipment and have canceled and fully refunded the order today in the amount of $139.48.
