    Upon arrival, Aug. 21, 2022, our very first encounter was a driveway that was straight up. Very steep. OK, it IS the mountains. But when we parked and approached the entry deck, we found charcoal poured out on the ground near the steps, entry door light completely covered with spider webs, that had obviously been there for a very long time and gutters overflowing with debris. After entering the door, there was coffee spots on the floor, debris around dining table. Next we went to use the bathroom, after our 3 1/2 hour drive, and found the toilet was nasty. At first, we thought it was just stained from the water, but after taking the toilet brush and swishing a bit, I found that not to be the case! The other toilet was found in the same condition, even though they both were sealed with the paper seal as if they had been freshly cleaned. Out next step was to inspect the deck and hot tub. We once again found huge masses of spider webs in the screened corners and a very outdated deck that screamed the opposite of luxury! The cover on the hot tub was very dusty and dirty. Should have been our first clue. Knowing the water in the hot tub would probably not be hot, we tried to get it up and running so it could begin to heat. Only 1 jet was working, and barely at that, and a couple of jets were laying on the screened ledge. We couldn't get the hot tub to function in order to get the heating process going. After calling the office to report all that we found and requesting a different cabin, we were told that they could not put us in another cabin but would send a maintenance person out to try and fix the hot tub. That was going to take up to 4 hours, which would have been around 10 p.m. They offered to send someone out to clean again but it would not be until 2:00 - 4:00p.m. the NEXT day! They were very clear on that being ALL they could do to try and rectify our problems and, depending on the issues if they could not be fixed, we would be compensated at check out. They

    If you rent a cabin from this company and have to cancel 3 months before arrival date, they WILL NOT refund your money. They give a credit. Which sucks. So we had to use it. Drove from Florida 13 hours. They did not give us clean bathroom mat's. There was a bath tub in the bedroom with a dirty bath mat from previous renters. They gave us one roll of toilet paper for three people for five days?? The t.v. had 4 stations on it?? The dryer didn't work? Just broken down and dirty. Never again

    This place and company is awful!!! I hate that I had to leave one star! My husband and I went for a short weekend getaway to just unwind and get away before a wk of drs appt and bad news to come. When we first got there we were a little disappointed in the room, simply because the pictures online look nothing like the cabin. And then the fun starts, we went to take a shower after hrs on the road and when we turned the shower on all you could smell was pop and rotten eggs. I call guest services and they have to send maintenance to check it out. He gets there 2 and half hrs later and because the filters are good and the softners are good nothing is wrong and we just have to deal with it cause it's well water. Then I ask to get moved to a diff cabin because I can't stand the smell and they can't do that because it states in there guest care guide that's it possible for a slight odor to occur when the well is low. But, let me just tell ya there wasn't nothing "slight" about that odor at all, not one bit. So we leave and head home. I call and speak to a manager and she can't give me a refund, and I did say to keep your deposit for tonight, but could I get a refund for tomorrow night and unless they book the room for tomorrow night then there won't be a refund. I already know no one is going to book for one night so guess this lady ain't getting no money back. Does anyone know of any steps I could take to maybe get that money back?? Please help and for your sake if your reading this DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

    I was at the Mountain Mist Lodge for 3 nights, did not get welcoming guide to know where everything is and how they work, hot tub not working, trash not picked up after calling three times, clothing found under bed when we checked in, the skirt to my bed was stained, fridge not cleaned , bathroom stall off the hinged, tub not draining spider webs inside, place just not up tp par for the amount of money we payed!!!! It seams that when they ask for picture ID they see who is Black or White , it seems all the great reviews are from the White population!!!

    I have been renting cabins from this place for many years and never experienced such a horrible time. The Gathering Place from day one was the worst experience. The bathroom leaked from the top bedroom to the main floor. One of the couches was broken. We tolerated all that until my niece got bit all over her arms by something and could not figure out what it was until we saw a bat in the place and was given the run around for hours up til midnight and was told they cannot do anything until the next day and was told to just go to sleep and the bat will not bother us. I was not having that so they moved us at 1 in the morning to a different cabin and was told management will contact us during the day and no one ever called until Friday and we had plans for vacation until Saturday and told us we had an hour to move cause the cleaners were there to get the place ready for the next renters. So again we packed up our whole family of 9 and moved ti another cabin which was infested of bed bugs. We ended up heading back home early. I have been trying to contact management has not received a phone call back. It was very stressful and lack of communication. Also got a phone call on Saturday asking how our stay on Friday at the 3rd cabin was and had to ask them if they communicated amongst each other cause we headed home and as I said earlier we headed home early. I really just wanted to talk to someone in management to discuss the matter. I also did not appreciate playing musical cabins either.

    This is THE WORST PLACE EVER! from Broken bed, clogged kitchen sink, leaky ceiling, mold , Cabin left a MESS poor customer service! Workers being dishonest...literally had to rent a hotel to stay the night at for 1 day...Stay AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

    I reserved a cabin to accommodate my extended family of 16 almost a year ago. Due to the owner of the unit selling their property the company moved our reservation to another unit which only accommodated 10. I immediately called and they said they found a unit which would be viable for our family. In the end it was riddled with problems. When we arrived, the one HVAC unit was not working, they did fix it that night. Even though I confirmed four times of the number of beds and amenities, they were almost all incorrect. I informed the company of this. The most important thing being the missing beds as we lacked enough to house the number of people. The company did try to fix the other aspects as well as they could, such as bringing cookware to be used, pillows, towels etc. Things that could not be fixed, such as not having a fireplace or Jacuzzi did not really matter to us but were mis represented on the website. After calling them multiple times a day for three days, the bed situation was never resolved and the internet never worked properly. I ended up buying blow up mattresses for people to sleep on. The company also still has not changed their posting on the website to reflect an accurate description of the amenities nor accurate pictures. The unit was also obviously still not complete and missing finish work. The work that done was also not of high quality (This is more on owner and builder as the company does not own this unit just a property manager) The company only has 18 facility people for over 500 units which is causing apparent issues.

    We stayed in Legacy Lodge July 2022. 12 Bedroom Cabin. Several issues with the cabin. Many issues with overall maintenance/upkeep of the cabin. Windows were not secure...so major security issues. We found a piece of wood/large stick to place in the window to help secure it. In one room, the bathroom tile floor was broken, we placed towels down so not to cut our feet. In one bathroom, there was no mirror or trash can or a stopper for the tub. Two hot tubs..one did not work and one looked terrible on the outside. Two stoves in the kitchen but only one worked. Kitchen cabinet doors were broken and two drawers were completely missing. Two refrigerators but only one ice maker worked. Shelves in the kitchen were missing. Could not check in until 4:30 instead of the 4:00 time posted. Our 3rd day there we had no water. It took 24 hours to get the water fixed. We hauled water from the hot tub that did not work (it was full of water thankfully) to the toilets so we could flush toilets. Broken blinds Spent at least 5 hours throughout our stay on the phone with guest services. Everyone I spoke with was very apologetic but their hands were basically tied as to able to help us. However, I did receive phone calls back from Supervisor once our water was fixed. We made the best of our stay and we still had fun because our family always has fun no matter where we are. But paying this price there should have been a pristine cabin and all amenities should be working properly. Good new is they promised us a refund and upon checkout I went to their office and they issued us a proportioned refund that we were pleased with. 7 business days later...the refund was received. Broken items should have been fixed before renting. At lease advertise the broken items if they are not going to be fixed. Be aware of possible issues with this cabin. We have used rental cabins/houses for many years and this was the first one we had major issues with. Not worth the $$$

    If I could give this place a 1/2 a star I would! The pictures of this cabin are very misleading. The place was DISGUSTING! The tvs wouldn't work, Wi-Fi is horrible, not 1 device would work. It was dirty, our sheets were stained and gross, the beds have blood stains on them, the games were broke and didn't work, the blinds and toilet paper holders were all broke. The hot tubs weren't filled & had 0 chemicals in them. The power went out, they wouldn't pick the garbage up unless we called. The floors were dirty, the kids feet were black within hours of us being there. There are very small porches, you can't even get to the back of the cabin in the grass. It's off a highway, but you don't know that because they don't give you the address until check in. We found dirty slippers in one room, a bra in another, if it were cleaned, how were those things left under the bed? The one room my family members slept in, they woke up with swollen eyes? Two different people on different days woke up like that. Everyone got sick, we've been doing vacations with our very large extended family for over 30 years and never once has anyone ever gotten sick. This was the biggest waste of $12,000 for a weeks vacation we have ever spent. I would advise you NOT to stay here! This place is very gross! There were 11 families that stayed in this house & everyone complained! Again we've been doing vacations together for over 30 years and never once have we had an experience like this one. We go different places each year and we will never be back. It was a total waste of money! Very very disappointed!! DONT STAY HERE!!

    So I would be giving this a zero if I had the option. I was very displeased with the cabin and the service. I was basically forced to stick with the company because last year I rented a cabin and had to cancel. There is no such thing as a refund with this company when canceling. So I thought I found a cabin for this year. One, the check in said 4, but ended up being more like 5pm. Two, the cabin was NOT as displayed in the pictures. The pictures online are VERY old. Three, it was NOT properly cleaned. There were hair in all of the bathrooms, crumbs in the couches, dead bugs all throughout the house, the curtains looked like they have literally NEVER been washed and the dust was just bad all over. Four, the shower was broken. Five, there were a bunch of remotes missing. Six, the wifi was the worst! Don't advertise wifi if it doesn't work. Seven, there were NOT enough towels in there for a 12 person cabin - we only had 9 people and it wasn't even enough. Seven, no extra bedding despite pullout couches. Eight, I had to call TWICE and ask for the free vouchers that are displayed all over the website as part of the deal when booking a cabin and still had to wait over a day to get them. All in all, just not a good experience. Definitely will NEVER get any property with this company again. To top it off, it is the absolute biggest struggle to get any type of refund or compensation even after I was told I would get it
