TruGreen will not stop spraying my yard even thought I spent an hour on the phone canceling their service in September 2024. I consider them to be trespassing on my land when they spray now. Further they damaged plants I was growing by spraying killer on them.Business Response

TruGreen has been unable to reach Mr. **** via phone or email to discuss his concerns. TruGreen apologizes for the unexpected services Mr. **** received after requesting to cancel in September 2024. TruGreen found that the lawn service was cancelled as requested, but the aeration/overseeding and tree/shrub services were left active in error. TruGreen has credited the three services completed since Mr. **** requested to cancel, and Mr. **** has been advised that he should see the refund within 5-7 business days. TruGreen advised that the treatments applied were tree/shrub treatments and safe for plants. I am writing to formally file a complaint against TruGreen for their services, or lack thereof, related to weed control at my residence in *********, ********. I am extremely dissatisfied with their handling of my account and the services they provided. In 2024, our city issued a mandate requiring residents to eliminate noxious weeds. I hired TruGreen for this purpose, trusting they would effectively address the issue. However, despite paying for their services, the weeds were not properly treated, and the problem persisted. The outcome was far below expectations and did not comply with the citys mandate. Due to this failure, I canceled TruGreens service numerous times, beginning shortly after realizing they were ineffective. Yet, TruGreen continued to send personnel to my property five times after the cancellation, despite my explicit instructions to discontinue the service. To make matters worse, my weed problem has worsened in 2025, resulting in more weeds than in any previous yeara direct consequence of TruGreens inadequate treatment and their disregard for my cancellations. Recently, I was informed that TruGreen has sent my account to collections for payment of services that were neither effective nor authorized. I strongly object to these charges, as I had terminated the service and did not consent to any subsequent visits. I am seeking resolution of this matter and request that TruGreen: 1. **Cease collections activity immediately** and withdraw all charges related to unauthorized visits after my service cancellations. 2. Provide an explanation for their disregard of my cancellation requests and failure to address the weed problem as initially contracted. 3. Offer appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and worsening of the weed issue caused by their ineffective service. I trust that the BBB will assist in addressing this issue fairly. TruGreen contacted *** ********* at the number on the account, but he did not wish to discuss this matter. TruGreen has made several attempts to contact Mrs. ********* via phone and email but has not heard back. TruGreen apologizes for *** and Mrs. ********** experience with TruGreen and any miscommunication that occurred. TruGreen's records indicate that the customer received their regular application and revive application on 7/3/24. The customer notified ********************** that they weren't expecting two applications in one day, so the revive application was refunded to them. TruGreen continued with the service and completed applications on 8/19/24 and 9/19/24. On 9/19/24 *** ********* advised that he only wanted one service to be done to see how it worked out, but he did not see desired results. TruGreen agreed to credit both the August and September applications at that time. The service was cancelled as requested, but on 9/25/24 a representative spoke with *** *********/saved the account with a free evaluation/retreatment which was completed on 10/03/24. TruGreen completed the next regular application on 11/7/24. TruGreen was notified on 1/13/25 that the customer thought the service was cancelled from previous requests and refused to pay. TruGreen has issued a credit for the 11/7/24, and the customer has a zero balance/the account is cancelled. AndAnd the reason I'm doing so is because it. This bill has gone on to the credit report. And aside from that, this had nothing to do with a revive application, we called for the weeds because we we're notified from our city that noxious weeds had to go. So we called you guys to come and handle that. And we have more weeds this year than we did in the other previous years. What could ****** us after 5 applications on our lawn? Four of them in which we didn't ask for because we had canceled, and we have more weeds this year make that make sense

TruGreen spoke with Ms. ********* 4/30/25 and apologized for her experience with TruGreen. The proper expectation was not set at the time of setting up the service, and TruGreen has agreed to refund the service charge that they paid since they did not see improvement in the lawn. The refund will go back to the original method of payment within 5-7 business days. Ms. ********* is going to send in photos of the weed, and TruGreen will set the proper expectation on control, so she can make an informed decision on whether or not she wants to sign back up for service.Initial Complaint

The companies representative drove into my driveway, then backed out, and left. I was then billed for the service. No service was completed. They lied about completing the service. I do have them on video.Business Response

TruGreen left a message and sent an email to Mr. ******* today, 4/23/25. TruGreen apologizes if a service was marked as completed without his property being serviced. It is never our intention for someone to be charged for a service that was not performed. Mr. ****** spoke with TruGreen customer service today, and the application was credited and account cancelled. We have added Mr. ****** to the do not contact list per his request for no further contact from TruGreen. I used TruGreen for my house in ****** CA, and paid an annual fee in 2023 for their monthly lawn service. During the annual service time period, they stopped their service from May 2024 to July 2024 for no reasons. After I contacted them, the contract showed up and continued their lawn service. I wasnt happy with this kind of service, called them and canceled their service before the end of the annual contract. Per record there were still unused service remaining on my account at my time of cancellation. The strange thing is that after my cancellation and switching to a new lawn contractor company, they keep claiming that I owe them a service fee of $83.92. I paid an annual fee upfront and they have not delivered the service they owed to me. I am not aware of any service being delivered beyond the annual service contract. They should fix on their accounting errors in stead of harassing their previous customers.*****Business Response

I was told that they were putting down weed killer and fertilizer. As you can see I have the weeds and it killed the grass. I have many more pictures of the damage done to our yard. When you call TruGreen **************** we are told that we didn't purchase their package for seeding and aerating but we did this ourselves as we have the equipment. The new seeding that we also spent money on won't even grow. The picture with dead grass was beautiful grass originally and is now dead. I would love to have someone come and inspect what they did just to show this problem. They just wanted the money for a year subscription only to continually see more and more damage being caused to our lawn. No, absolutely no progress in weeds dying and grass growing which is what they stated they were working towards.Business Response

TruGreen apologized for the concerns Ms. ***** has experienced with her lawn and aerated/overseeded the concern areas. Over several years, I have experienced consistently poor service from TruGreen, ranging from inexperienced technicians falsely marking services as complete (including instances caught on video), to negligent and incorrect applications that damaged my property. Despite escalated concerns and a brief attempt by local leadership to make things right, TruGreen ultimately failed to uphold its own commitments, including assigning a qualified specialist to my account as promised. Most recently, their treatment resulted in the death of two expensive, mature shrubs, which have been confirmed dead by a certified arborist. I provided documentation and requested a resolution, only to be met with a dismissive and unprofessional response from their senior legal counsel, who showed no intent to address the damages or honor previous agreements. I am seeking reimbursement for the shrubs and holding TruGreen accountable for a pattern of substandard service and poor customer care.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The response submitted by TruGreen regarding my complaint is disingenuous and its not true. The statement they provided is false. I have NOT been contacted by the company, I have NOT been contacted by, nor have I received any offer to resolve this issue.
As a loyal customer of ********************** for over seven+ years, I have paid them a significant amount of money with the expectation of professional and reliable service. Instead, several of my plants are now dead as a result of their treatment. I am now responsible for having them removed, purchasing replacements, and covering the cost of reinstallation - none of which have been addressed or acknowledged by TruGreen.
Even if an offer had been made, $192 would NOT begin to cover the scope of the damage or inconvenience. This experience is not only disappointing - it is disgraceful. The false response provided to the BBB only further demonstrates a lack of accountability and integrity on TruGreens part. This experience reflects a broader issue, as evidenced by the numerous complaints filed against TruGreen nationwide.
This matter is not resolved, and I am not satisfied. I respectfully request that this complaint remain open until a fair and complete resolution is reached.

Trugreen has serviced the lawn since 4/18/24 completely destroying all my Bahia grass in my back yard. My grass is in shambles, mostly dead and all weeds now. My front lawn is ************ is full of weeds and completely covered in sedge. I have gotten no resolution out of two different area service managers. I paid for lawn service last year in full for 6 treatments (summer of 2024). We did not see a difference in our lawn quality and had zero intentions of having the service again this summer.A week ago trugreen showed up to my house when I was not home and applied fertilizer (I had just put down fertilizer myself!). TruGreen advised *** this disclaimer is found on our Welcome Aboard letter, which is sent to every customer after each sale, every service ticket, the invoice and the annual prepay letter. I have attached all 4 of these communications. *** ******* declined the offer to be forwarded this information. Complaint Summary:TruGreens lawn treatment completely destroyed my front yard grass, leaving it barren and in violation of my HOA rules.Complaint Details:I subscribed to TruGreen's lawn care service and shortly after a treatment, my front yard was severely damaged. The chemicals used killed off all the grass, leaving nothing but dirt. Now, I am in violation of HOA landscaping requirements. To repair the damage, I will need to purchase two pallets of sod at a cost of approximately $1,500.I have called multiple times and was told a service manager would contact me, but no one has followed up. TruGreen corporate and the local management team spoke with Mr. ******** regarding his concerns, and the local manager met with him in person. The manager found that the lawn was suffering from drought. There is an oak tree that is taking water, nutrients and causing shade on one side and on the other is a retaining wall/the way the house faces causes shade on both sides. ******* needs sunlight to grow. The manager gave recommendations for the drip line watering system, and Mr. ******** has a landscaper installing ************ in those areas. I am writing in response to the statement that TruGreen considers this matter resolved. Unfortunately, I must respectfully disagree.
While it is true that a local TruGreen manager visited my property, during his visit he did not inform me that my lawn was suffering from drought. His only observation was that the lawn was "under some sort of stress", and he stated that he was unsure of the cause. His irrigation-related comments were focused on the new sod I was preparing to install that same daynot on the condition of my existing lawn or any contributing factors to its deterioration. In fact the manager left without presenting clear resolution from his end he said he is going to speak to the manager of my area to find out what went down, even when local management called I was not clear on what the resolution is, they were also not sure what did the local manager do during the visit before they called.
The oak tree referenced in their message has been on the property since I purchased the home and has never previously caused any issues. My irrigation system is inspected regularly and in excellent working order. More importantly, my lawn has never experienced this level of decline until after TruGreen began servicing it.
TruGreens role was to maintain the health and appearance of my lawn. Instead, the lawn has been severely damaged, and there has been a clear lack of communication or proactive identification of issues on their end. Despite the ongoing damage, TruGreen continued to charge for services without addressing or acknowledging the problem.
I do not consider this matter resolved. I am still seeking an adequate resolution, including a refund for the services rendered, which failed to deliver the promised results or meet the basic expectations of professional lawn care.

TruGreen called and spoke with Mr. ******** on 4/29/25. TruGreen advised Mr. ******** of the drought issue with the lawn that caused the decline of the lawn. Although Mr. ******** agreed that this could be the factor, Mr. ******** claims that TruGreen never brought this to his attention therefore is seeking compensation due to lack of communication and results. As a good faith gesture, TruGreen has agreed to issue a full refund for the lawn care plan only that Mr. ******** prepaid on 4/16/24. TruGreen called and left Mr. ******** a voicemail on 4/30/25 of this resolution. It is never the intent of TruGreen to have a customer or non-customer to feel as if we are ignoring their concerns. TruGreen considers this matter resolved.
