I hate picking weeds and did not care much about my lawn, but when I started working on the backyard I started religiously removing weeds and watering since I laid sod. Soon after I started with tru green. The first couple applications were ok and the grass looked good, but then it started. Every weed you can think of. Id call, they say wait and see how it does after no changes I call again and they offer a free application. Well they end up charging you for that free application. At some point I had called so many times and the yard was finely looking decent (essentially they had to kill the sod because of weeds and I laid grass seed), and then I started getting calls for tree and shrub and mosquito. Well naive me said oh yea I want my trees and shrubs looking good. Now I have fungus on the dogwood and a couple other established plants starting to die. On top of that my lawn is filled with crabgrass and other weeds. I sincerely feel like this company is a scam. I think they fail to provide services rendered, they give free touch-*** and then charge you for them, and they give little care about the customers true complaints. Give them a call, and they will give you a yellow brick road to nowhere. Proceed at your own risk. All of my neighbors who go with TruGreen have done the same thing, kept them for a year, saw some results and then realize its an uphill battle we signed ourselves up for. Weed control is hard, I get it But whats funny to me is they dont deny to me Ive had trouble with their lawn service over the period Ive paid for it, they have the history on how many times Ive called, but theyre unwilling to just refund this years applications. So here I am letting others know of my experience, and cautioning others to stop and think before agreeing on that call.Business Response

TruGreen apologizes for Mr. ****** experience and that he did not see desired results from the service. The general manager, **** contacted Mr. ***** to discuss his concerns and come to a resolution. ********** company destroyed my backyard lawn in which my lawn never recovered. They tried to repair it by laying new grass seeds which only enhanced the destruction of my lawn. They destroyed my lawn by preforming services I never authorized them to perform on my lawn. For some time now they've been mailing offers to me for services. I've contacted True Green multiple times in a demanding way for them to stop all contact with me. I was met with rude and unprofessionalism by some of their customer services representatives. Some stating they put in the request to stop contacting me which end up being false as True Green continues to contact me. I went as far as to complain with ********** corporate representative. I even sent a complaint about being contacted and the unprofessionalism to *********************** ******** ****** and my emailed complaint to her was rejected.I am a disabled veteran and i suffer from many conditions with PTSD, depression, and anxiety being my worse disabilities. The interactions described do not align with the level of customer service that we strive to provide. I am a Tru Green customer with a service agreement for my lawn. My lawn was beautiful and green in front and back until they came out on 5/16/25 when it was 89 degrees and applied liquid fertilizer which severely weakened the lawn and killed patches. We had rain the day after the service and I've watered every day since then. I soon realized that 1) it was too hot for liquid fertilizer and/or 2) the technician over applied too heavily and/or 3) the strength was too strong. Now I have a lawn that looks worse than if I was doing it myself. To make the matter worse I have repeatedly called and emailed them asking for a Manager to call me regarding what they will do to fix the problem which due to the late spring time will mean we can't reseed until Fall and I have the whole summer with a messed up lawn. They sent several techs out who one confirmed over application of fertilizer although he probably won't admit it to anyone else. But no Manager has called me yet.Business Response

I had TruGreen service last year. I authorized and p***aid ~$550 for the service of 7 applications in 2024. I was clearly told and confirmed by my sales *** that no future service will be automatically continued and I will not be charged for any futhre service without my approval. Therefore, I was so surprised to see TruGreen keep charging my credit card without my approval for $337 in 3 separate charges in 2025. I moved out of my house in the end of 2024 and later sold my house where they serviced , and there is no reason for me to keep the service in 2025. I have never allowed or agreed TruGreen to keep the service in that house, and I am not responsible for the charge of the service I do not allow. This is a credit card fraud!!!Business Response

It is never TruGreen's intention for someone to receive services they weren't expecting, and TruGreen apologizes for any miscommunication or misinformation surrounding our continuous service policy. I contracted with Trugreen and prepaid for 10 *************** visits on March 6, 2025. The main reason for signing with Trugreen was to eliminate weeds from the lawn. They have done nothing to eliminate any weeds from the lawn. The only weeds that die, are the ones I spray myself or pull out of the ground. I continually fill out their service survey and they send out a different person each visit with a backpack tank sprayer, and a different explanation of what the Sarasota branch is not providing them with to do do the job correctly. I am told something different each time. I am unable to speak to a manager regarding this. Every time I call, I am only set up for another useless application of spot spraying.Business Response

I just received a bill from TruGreen on date May 28th 2025 for $161.46 for a charge for mosquito flea and tick treatment that never happened. I refused service due to the gentleman that showed up informed me and my wife that he was only able to treat our farm for mosquitoes. Then we were informed that he could not spray for mosquitoes due to it was not safe for our livestock. This bill was dated May 20th 2025. I spoke with a representative less than a week ago I was told this would not happen. I spoke with the branch manager branch number 5982 she did not know anything in regards to true Green as far as their history and that they originally started out as a lawn service. She had only been working for TruGreen for 6 months. I feel that true Green needs to educate their workers on their original origin. And also on what their services provide and their safety to livestock and people. I have autoimmune disease these chemicals could have not only harmed my animals but myself.Business Response

TruGreen spoke with Ms. ***** on 6/2/25 and apologized about the confusion with our Welcome Aboard letter vs invoice. The attachment in which Ms. ***** included in her BBB complaint is the Welcome Aboard letter which outlines the plan we had on file and the rates. Ms. ***** canceled her account before we completed a service. Our invoices are generated from completed services. If there is not an active account, our system will not generate a billable service. I have been a long time customer of **********************. I received a call from a Trugreen salesman in January 2025 saying my shrubs had insect damage and for $284 they can spray them. I thought that was a lot but he said they would through in seeding so that seemed like a better deal. After multiple calls with the company, they said even though the salesman promised it, they weren't authorized to do the seeding and a manger would call me to discuss it. Well the manager never called. Bottom line is they don't honor what their salesmen sells.Business Response

TruGreen has already issued a refund of $249.50 back to Mr. ******** card, and we will refund an additional $34.66, so he will have received the full $384.16 prepay back. Terrible service. Completely ripped me off and will never use again.2 weeks ago, I was prepared a quote but specified the main issue I had was wanting grass seed and my beds treated. The caller said they do not treat garden beds but I could ask the technician to do it when they are out. I asked them to put that in the contract and they said they couldnt, but I could just ask the technician. I told them if the service wasnt guranteed, then I wouldnt be able to sign. They raised their voice and hung up on me.Someone called me back the following day and apologized and said they would add the bed treatment to my quote for free. Hesitantly, I agreed to sign up but I needed to get my lawn treated and they seemed reasonable.After the first two services, the technician told me to rake my **** up before they come down to seed my yard. I then asked when they would be seeding and they forwarded me to customer service.Customer service then informed me that the person (sales **** who agreed to add the treatment "free of charge," actually just took services off my original quote for seeding and aeration and added a one time service to my flower beds. I was paying $450 solely for weed treatment in my grass and one time for my flower beds only.When I called to contest, they refunded the remaining amount but charged me $100 for their 20 minute visit of spraying weed killer.I shouldnt have forgiven them for hanging up on me and already trying to scam me to get my business. But I thought the person apologizing really wanted to help me, and they were just scamming for a sale too. Ultimately, I was scammed by two people to no resolution.Business Response
