      I would give zero stars if that was an option. My Clayton Homes was purchased in Walterboro, SC. I'll address two main areas. First the workmanship or lack there of in my new Clayton Home. Not a SINGLE piece of molding is fitted correctly. Angles are measured incorrectly and mistakes covered up sloppily. Crown molding doesn't fit together. Cheapest kitchen cabinets on earth. I went with a cheaper model but the cabinets are the same in the more expensive homes. The underside of kitchen cabinets not painted. Appliances are out of warranty because my model sat on the lot so long. Windows and countertops not squared. I could go on but I need to leave space for my local Clayton Homes dealer in Walterboro, SC. All contractors hired to put the home in place and finish up plumbing are subpar. We have lived in our home for two months and all the plumbing underneath has had to be replaced. Clayton Homes did pay for that but it is quite scary to have a new home with such huge plumbing issues. I asked for all drop-downs to be properly wrapped and sealed. My local dealership did not do that. I discovered a gaping hole over a foot wide underneath the garden tub exposing our home to insects and rodents. Now the dealership is supposed to come back and do what I requested be done in the first place. The local dealership was asked to fix the problems with interior wood trim but they didn't. The subpar brick layer who did the skirting took it up on himself to move supports underneath that were in his way. The home got out of balance and none of the doors would close and drywall cracked throughout the home. Drywall was repaired but the damage has already been done. I don't expect my new home to hold up until I die. I'm 64 and retired by the way. That's frightening that I'll probably outlive my home. The people associated with Clayton Homes take advantage of the lower middle class and retirees. Basically the are crooks. I called the corporation in TN but my problems fell on deaf ears.

      I give them 1 star only because I can't give them zero. Since our home was delivered on site in October 2021 it has been a headache. No one wants to come out and do repairs. If they do come and try to fix them they still aren't right. Even contractor for the manufacturer doesn't call or keep us updated we have to call them. Really wishing we had known before we bought from ******* Homes what a nightmare it was going to be.

      clayton in rockhill sc and clayton in shelby i was looking to do home and land package they could careless if they sell anything if i didn't call them or text there would be no communication
      i was approved with 3 lenders pick out home options and land and got no were decided to buy a house much easer close in 30 to 45 days not 2 years my son and daughter in law and niece and her husband had same problem .

      My mom and my first new home. Saddened to say I stay up at night because of the nightmare Clayton Homes has created for us. So much damage and shoddy work. Don't have anyone to do the many areas not finished and has been many months. Calling corporate has fallen on deaf ears. Seeking legal advise and seem unable to help because of the sneaky wording in the contract. Instead of this being the most wonderful experience of our lives it's been an unended stressful situation. I have since heard nothing but horror stories from others about Clayton. Sadly I've never heard a positive comment about the corporation. We are so disgusted that they can continue to operate a business in this manner. It's unfair to honest hard working people. Simply trifling...

      We purchased a home 4 months ago. Paid in full. Asked for delivery in a certain time frame and was assures it would be here. Ended up a month later. It has been put together very quickly with shoddy work. The footings are just concrete poured on the ground. The block skirting is cracking. There is wood hanging out for the weather to rot it. We have tried to get the techs out to inspect and have been told they were told not to touch anything. Ee are going on 4 months and I am displeased with the service of this team.

We attempt to provide all service in a timely manner, however, certain factors do not allow for there to be a guaranteed time frame of delivery and setup. As of August 2nd, 2022, the keys have not been turned over to the homeowners as completed. We request that customers do not go into the home during the construction/setup process. However, you requested to do the utility connections, therefore, we allowed access for this purpose only. Like any construction process, there are minor issues that need to be taken care of before the customer takes homeownership of the property.

      Horrible..workers smoking glass pipes while at our house working ..brand new top of the line country air 2021..full of mold in house under house because shower leaking and roof leaking they never fixed any issues only made them worse..office staff dont respond corporate doesnt care

      If I could go lower than a 1 I would have. They promised us quality materials and we got the lowest of the low. Note we have only lived in the house for 3 years and stuff started falling apart after a year. The kitchen drawers fell apart had to fix them multiple times. The carpet is paper thin and is missing in some places just wear and tear. The paint on the house just comes off with the slightest bit of rubbing so cleaning the walls is impossible. Some of the electrical outlets don't work. Had my brother who is an electrician say he was surprised the house didn't burn down. One outlet is right underneath a window with is a no no from what he told me. We got way over charged for what we got when we were promised something better. I will never do business with them and I hope however is reading this doesn't make my mistake of doing the same. You are better off finding another place to build your house than Clayton.

      Quick to take our money, very slow to give it back. My husband and I looked at Clayton homes and liked what we saw. Their homes were very nice. We filled out the forms to get a mortgage and were accepted by one of the mortgage companies that work with them. As part of the process of holding the home we wanted we placed $1000 down. We were assured that if things did not work out we could get our down payment back. Well things sadly did not work out as planned. I/we asked for our down payment to be refunded. They at first told us "next week" the mortgage fell through on a Thursday. The weekend passed and I went back to the office to pickup the check. I was told that it would now be 2 weeks before the check could be cut it had to come from "corporate". Now being somewhat familiar with the business world checks are cut daily at any big business. I feel that 2 weeks is excessive and I would expect better service from a large corporate entity. I want my money returned.

      We purchased a Clayton home in 2018 and had nothing but a great experience with Clayton homes. For our home everything went like clockwork. We have had zero problems with the company and our lovely home that we very much enjoy. The weather was wet and muddy when they delivered, the delivery truck got stuck in the mud but were able to pull out of it. Weather is not something that anyone has control of.
