I was visiting ************ in May of 2025, and rented a car while I was there. The parking for the hotel I was staying at was operated by Metropolis. When I paid for parking, they automatically created an account and linked my credit card to it. Now, in June, I am being charged for Parking in ************ related to the same rental car. I have asked them reverse the charges but have not received any responses. I have no idea if I will be expected to continue paying for this rental car. I never created the accont, it was created automatically without my approval. I have added screenshots of my current location in *******, **, the receipt from them, and the notice I received via text.Business Response

Parked in their parking location at ************************************** on 5/2/2025 from 4:50 PM to 6:19 PM. On 5/4/2025, they sent a text message stating that I was parked there for 14 hours and they required payment. Contacted customer support, who stated that they, somehow, did not record my exit time of 6:19 PM. I paid the $12.00 parking fee and $0.99 convenience fee and considered the matter resolved. On 6/11/2025, I received a letter asking me to pay the $12.00 parking fee and a $45.00 "Notice Fee" within 30 days. I would like to dispute the $57.25 fee that they are charging.Business Response

After providing the proof of payment and copy of notice, Metropolis *** advised me that notice *********** has been waived/closed as a one time courtesy and no further action/payment is required on my part. The message implies that they will not contact me in the future regarding this notice. This is the outcome I asked for. I consider this matter resolved.

I was overcharged on 6/1/2025 at *********************************************************** lot. Attempted to resolve directly with company's ***************** via "Chat" texting. Representative disconnected without resolving. This is not the first time I have had issues with company which makes customers jump through hoops in order to resolve disputes. Is it because they assume overages or small so that most people won't go through extreme effort to resolve? Additionally, taxes and fees were added AFTER I was already informed of cost which I assume is legal, but not ethical.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:After my complaint was filed, I received a response from Metropolis that I would receive a refund as well as other information that did not fully relate to my experience. The initial text that I received from Metropolis regarding the cost only showed one charge and it looked nothing like the sample image Metropolis sent earlier today. Also, I tried to resolve the matter through the company's "Chat" function and the process was very tedious and after providing a ton of information which should have been readily available to Metropolis already, I was disconnected.
While I accept the refund, this is not the first time I have had to deal with Metropolis' mistakes, lack of transparency, or complicated resolution process.
I hope in future the leaders of the company find a sense of ethics instead of consumers needing to turn to BBB for resolution.
Sincerely,
S PBusiness Response

I am writing to formally file a dispute regarding a parking ticket I received on May 16th, 2025, in front of ***********, located at ********************************. I was visiting the restaurant for the first time, and it was extremely busy that day. I parked directly in front of the business, where there was no visible signage indicating any parking restrictions. If there were any signs present, they were not clearly marked or visible from where I parked, which creates a misleading and confusing situation for driversespecially for first-time visitors like myself.Issuing a ticket under these unclear conditions feels not only unfair but also possibly discriminatory, as it disproportionately affects those unfamiliar with the area. The notice fee of $45 is outrageous and egregious for an honest, unintentional mistake. The ticket is $25 and the notice fee is $45, which makes the total ticket $70, which is absolutely absurd. This experience comes across more as a deceptive tactic to extract money from unsuspecting patrons than as a fair enforcement of parking regulations. I urge the BBB to investigate this matter and help ensure businesses and local authorities are held accountable for such practices.I have included a picture of where I parked and as you can see there is not any signs posted against the restaurant. I have not paid the fees, but I am not sure of what consequences will happen if I do not. I feel as if the ticket was issued unfairly.Business Response

This is a free parking lot. There are not any signs up by Metropolis stating that a parking fee is due or instructions on how to pay. I should not owe $6 for parking & $5 for a statement fee. This is illegal.Business Response

Although indicated in the parking structure there's a 15min ***** period on top of the 2hr validation, and I have proof that I only parked there for 2hr 8min. The company charged me $11. When I contacted them, they danced around and made up excuses to refuse to refund me.Business Response

On the evening of March 15, 2025, we parked in the lot located at ********************************************************. Upon entering, the gate arm was raised, and there was no attendant on-site. The lot was largely empty, and there were no visible signs indicating that payment was required to enter or park.Given that the gate arm was up and there was no signage regarding fees, we reasonably assumed that parking charges applied only during peak times. Had we been made aware that payment was required at the time, we would have paid accordingly. On May 20, 2025, we received a notice stating that we owe $25.00 for parking and $25.25 in additional fees, totaling $50.25. This charge feels misleading, as there were no clear indications or barriers preventing unpaid entry. We respectfully request that this charge be reviewed and reconsidered. In our view, the lots setup on that date did not adequately inform customers that payment was required, nor did it provide a method to ensure compliance at the time of entry or exit.Business Response

I visited a friend in ***** in 2024 and paid for our Metropolis parking one time using my credit card. Without informing me or obtaining my consent, Metropolis linked my credit card to my friends license plate. Ever since, theyve been charging me whenever he parks, even though I have not used their services again. This has been happening for over six months. Most recently, they triedto hit me with a $52.99 unauthorized charge. I never authorized recurring charges or any connection between my payment and another persons vehicle. This is a clear violation of consumer trust and an example of unauthorized billing ************ requesting that Metropolis:Immediately remove my card from the associated license plate.Provide a full record of all charges.Refund all unauthorized charges.Confirm in writing that my card has been disassociated and will no longer be charged.Metropolis must take responsibility for this serious lapse in billing authorization and system oversight. I'll go out of my way to make sure I never park in one of their lots due to their shady practices.Business Response

Parked at ******************** in ******** on 5/23/2025 at 10:28AM and prepaid for 2 days. Received text notification on 5/25/2025 at 10:14AM that my time was about to expire and was asked to click a link to add time, which I did because I needed another 8 hours or so. However, as I was adding time (only available in days, not hours, which is garbage), there is no way to confirm or check out; I accidentally double clicked to add 2 days instead of only the 1 day I needed. I left the lot at 5:45PM on 5/25/25 but was charged for 4 days instead of 3. I reached out to them through their Zendesk portal and was refused a refund for the additional day that I did not want or need. This UI with no confirmation feels deceptive, if not outright predatory, especially when they refuse to refund the overage charges.Business Response
