Alta Pest Control came to our door offering pest control. I told them we were not interested and did our own pest control. The sales *** advised me due to current building around our home we could use the extra pest control Alta could provide. I had him talk to my husband, who agreed to a one time only service. We paid by credit card. We distinctly told the sales *** we were not interested in ongoing service with his company. He mis***resented the paper my husband signed as credit card payment agreement which the company says now is a contract for service for the next year. We got a text message saying we are scheduled for service tomorrow. When we called Alta to say it was a mistake the company told us too bad, we have a contract with them that we signed, and they were going to hold us to the contract.Business Response

I asked Alta pest control To come out and perform their pest control applications on 8-10-24 And was told by the sales representative that they would be out on this day in between 1pm and 5pm to do the pest application. I paid one year in advance $513 with their 5% discount for paying in advance. My family and I waited from 1 oclock to 5 oclock for them to show up and nobody ever came. I explained to them over the phone that it was eminent for them to make it today because we have a bad ant infestation and they are getting into our bed. We received a text message from **** saying that they would be here on this day and they did not show up. I would like to break my contract with Alta for their negligence. In addition to that, we were also told that they would call us 30 minutes before they came on 8-10-24 and no call ever came.Business Response

Alta pest control want me to continue to pay my account with my credit card. I refused to continue to pay account with credit card. I told them that I will pay my account through my bank account which is bill pay I kept getting an email from them telling me that my payment is late therefore I email them and told them to close my account immediate I rec'd an email from them tell me that I needed to call them on phone to cancel my account before I call them I got a copy from my bank account to see why? they have not rec'd July payment. woman said to me that they have not rec'd my payment I told her that I bill pay it on 1st today is 8th also I let her know that I did miss a payment in month of Jan I will get that payment out to her today she told me that she could not close account until she rec'd my payment. keep in mind one payment was pay July-1st another payment was made July 18th ***** payment amount for July 1st amount ***** dollars I later learn that Alta pest control returned check back to my account on July 9th however check for July 18th was deliver on Jul 25 was cash. I rec'd a letter statement date July 25 tell me that my balance of ***** is **************************************************************************************************************** full. Pushy salesman came that stated I clearly didn't love my kids if I didn't get the service which almost made me kick him off my property right off, however he assured me that I could try them out and if it didn't work I could cancel but that by second treatment it would definitely have worked. Supposed treatment has not worked which I informed them of after first treatment and again after supposed "retreat", they have continued billing me, I've repeatedly requested cancellation and even spoke to one of their guys who confirmed he made a note of it. You cannot charge someone for services you aren't doing. I have photos of the cobwebs and massive amount of bugs, at no point did they perform the service promised they have instead just taken money. I am already out the money they billed for service that wasn't completed I want my supposed service cancelled and zero further fees.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:You guys charged me again after being told not to and after performing no work, so having to refund the extra money you charged after being told not to and doing no work isn't a good faith refund, you've still charged me repeatedly and the work that was promised was never done so refunding one charge doesn't change that.

We signed up for this special that their door to door representative sell. We recently bought a new home/new build and needed pest control for ants and spiders. We were told that we had to sign up for 12 months contract and they would come out every 3 months to spray. After the first initial spray we still had issues. We then contacted the sales person and they sent someone out. Then a few days later we saw more bugs and spiders. The sales rep then said it was normal and give it two weeks. So we did. Now 3 weeks later we are still experiencing same issues and had contacted the rep again and he said someone will be out within 24/48 hours. 12 days later we still did not have anyone out to help. So I called the office and ask them what was going on and they said they tried to text us which was not true did not receive any kind of communication from this company. They are in breach of there on contract and wanted me to pay a cancellation fee of $180 due to not being able to service us correctly. Stay away from this company or any door to door sales. All they want is the contract and not service you correctly.Business Response

This company got me to switch pest control services via a door to door salesman. Since switching Alta pest control has not held up their portion of the contracted aggrement. The have no showed 2 appointments. They have had a technician come out and complete 5 min of work leaving wasp nests, mice, bugs everywhere. They continue to fail to meet their requirements of the contract. I never could get a manager to speak to me. When attempting to cancel they force you to pay a cancel fee when they dont hold their end of the bargain. They will force you out of your money while not taking care of the customer.Business Response

I called Alta to cancel my services after several years of paying them $60/month for their services. I had fallen on hard times and had to cut back every discretionary expense every month. When I mentioned I wanted to cancel services, they transferred me to a different **** where I had to wait on hold for 15 min. Once I got a hold of them, they were hard selling me to not cancel. They offered to lower my price 3 different times. I said no, I don't want services of any kind. I started to get frustrated because they wouldn't cancel my service. They then transferred me again to another salesperson who I had to wait on hold to talk to. They finally said, instead of cancelling, why don't we just put your account on hold for 6 months, and we will call you back after 6 mo to see if you want service again. I finally said yes to this because they wouldn't let me cancel my account no matter how many time I asked. After 6 months passed, I got an email from Alta saying I owed them $47.50 for a service performed at my property. I called Alta and said I had cancelled my account and didn't authorize a service at my house and I needed to be refunded the $47.50 and I want my account cancelled. They said they left me a message earlier in the week on my voicemail saying that they would come out to service my house again. I have that voicemail, and the caller says that I had been on a 6 month deferment and was asking if I wanted to reactivate my service or not. Said nothing about being contractually bound to keep paying for service. I called **** and the scumbag lady said that I signed a contract that I would pay them again for service after 6 months and they weren't going to refund anything. I told them I signed no such thing, and they are gutter salespeople who lie over the phone to get sales. They even lie about pricing. They originally told me several times that the service would cost $60 for a quarterly service. Then they billed me $60/mo and only serviced once every 3 months.Business Response

Alta Pest Control appeared at my doorstep claiming to be offering a neighborhood discount of $50. I agreed to have them treat for a ********* bee issue and paid $65 because the discount was 'no longer available'. The treatment administered April 26 did not work, and I ended up handling it myself with DIY treatment. I never signed up for a contract with them. I had paid by credit card.Around the time they performed the service in April I looked into their contract, which they capture using some AI based software which requires you to be on video. I never agreed to the contract. One of the premises of their recorded contract is that they offer a "discounted rate" saving $400 - which is owed to them if you should cancel the contract at any time. I never agreed to the contract. No other pest control service I have ever worked with has this outrageous type of penalty.Today I received an invoice for another $65 they already charged to my credit card. No service was rendered, nor was one requested from them. I have contacted my credit card company as this is a fraudulent charge. There is no agreement for them to return. We have told them we are not interested in their services and that their treatment did not work.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is partially satisfactory to me. I had requested of Alta Pest control to put in writing to the BBB that I was in fact not under contract with them and under no obligation to continue to pay for services I did not request or authorize. They do not expressly state that in their reply. They did refund $65 for the SECOND unfounded charge assessed in June for a service that was not rendered nor authorized. I had contested the first charge with my credit card company and the credit card company refunded the first charge, otherwise I would have had to seek a $130 refund. I am attaching the notice that indicates I am deactivated and the refund notice I received from them. I do not understand why I would need to be in good standing with them if I never have intention of doing business with them again. I am not their customer and have no intention of ever being one. Assuming they hold to their word and never darken my doorstep again, I consider this matter closed. If I should ever receive contact or another charge, I will seek to reopen this complaint. We were informed that we had a rodent problem in our attic and had Alta remediate the problem by having our insulation replaced in the sub floor. It turns out they were also in the wall insulation and the traps they claimed were set to the most sensitive setting were empty of bait on multiple occasions, yet we were told there was no activity in our attic. They only informed us of activity in our crawl space where the traps also never caught anything but were always empty of bait. We paid $7500 for a job to be half done and we are left with the same issue we started with. Dont claim full remediation when its a half done job. We cancelled our account, which prompted removal of the traps they set, so I only have a couple pictures of the empty trap. But theres supporting images of the tunnels in the walls.Business Response

In the month of April a sales associate came to my door, selling pest control. Very nice guy, very good speech. But I informed him that I did not want service. He had asked me what I was paying for my previous service I told him I was paying 149 each service, he said well we are only 79 each service. After talking with my wife we decided to do it. I payed the initial 59 and first service. Next month 79 was taken out of my account, I called them and asked why because I did not receive a service, they told me it was 79 a month. I in return said no, that was false advertising, I want to cancel, they said it would 462 to cancel. I said no, im not paying that. I said I did not get what I was told and I am no longer doing business. I asked to talk to a manager, they came back and said if I pay 22 dollars I can cancel my service because that will pay for the rest of the service. I said that I did not receive that service yet. They said I would not get that service if I canceled but would still have to pay 22 dollars or the 462. I did pay the 22 dollars just to not be billed anymore. So I payed 101 dollars for service I did not receive.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I did talk to the company. They refused to escalate my issue, and was forced to pay for services I did not receive, in order to cancel with their company. All I am requesting is the the services I paid for and did not receive, refunded. That would resolve my issue.
