In summer of 2023 Alta Pest Control was obtained to manage the pest issues in/around our home. I vividly remember the day the Alta salesperson showed up at the door. He gave his sales pitch, and specifically mentioned all of the services which would be provided. He pointed out webs on and around our home which were previously unaddressed and said that the company would be removing them promptly and regularly. The first three service technicians which were sent out all skipped the promised service. Finally, a manager arrived who had to do the overlooked service himself. He was apologetic and stated that this service not having been done for so long was unacceptable. I had already grown to be quite dissapointed with the company, and their billing system was also a nightmare compared to other companies. I paid the agreed upon amount every month including all payments due to Alta. As a result of the above, I decided to cancel Alta Pest Control. At this, they tried to tell me there was an early cancellation fee of more than $1000. I stated that no such fee was ever discussed, in fact, the salesperson indicated that I could cancel any time for any reason. Even after requesting that my account be closed, they refused to close it and continue to harass me. As I was becoming aware of the seemingly unethical business practices, I decided to mail the remaining balance of $25 via certified mail. It came as no surprise that I did not receive a return receipt. When I inquired about it at the post office, their records indicated that no one was there to receive the payment at the address given to me by Alta Pest Control. My experience with Alta Pest Control has revealed a dishonest and unethical company. They try to force customers to pay money they do not owe and have never agreed to, and when unable to extract it from the customer, they will seek to destroy credit.Business Response

2) You're apologies are appreciated; however, if you are truly sorry for the mistakes and for the lackluster service, then do as the consumer has requested multiple times. Nothing else will be sufficient.
3) Whatever balance you may have listed for this account is erroneous; and payment(s) for services not provided are not acceptable for me or for any other persons with similar experiences with Alta Pest Control.
4) The account balance is to be $0, and the account status is to be CLOSED.
5) In addition to the above, no further contact from the company would be appreciated.

I have acquired their services for the pest control 1. The first service was performed 3 months ago to solve the spiders and ants issue (Nov 2 2. the second service was performed around 12/15 for the same issue **** services perform does not solve the issues both allergies with item they put in and still having spiders and ants (more than before)I want to close the account in mutual consideration without having to pay anything to them, and not acquire anymore their services.Business Response

This business needs to be shut down. Their products not only do not work they are a predatory company. After rain we found one cockroach in the house. I have a phobia so we took all protective measures. They came out and told me they charged a quarterly fee. They sprayed and we came home and the same cockroach was alive. My husband killed it so their spray did not even work. They charged me $50 for this first spray of which they did nothing. Ever since then they have tried to harass me and say I signed up for monthly sprays even after I sent them the dictionary definition of quarterly (4x a year) as well as telling them I would not use their service because it does not work. Their products do not work, they lie in their terminology and are now trying to use fear tactics to bully me into paying for a year worth of sprays that do not work. This company needs to be shut down. Its a predatory scam from their products down to their intentionally misleading language.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I called the number you gave me and talked to a sales representative who offered me the same solutions. Pay $300 to get out of contract where you never serviced me properly to begin with or to have it hit my credit. This is the most predatory company I have ever dealt with. Yesterday, I got another letter threatening to have my balance aka charges that you invented to try to pressure me into paying $300 to cancel my contract or have $600 in charges hit my credit. Your product did not work. My husband handled it and we had you out once and then I called and complained and was issued credit for how bad of a job you did. Now youre trying to harass me into continuing services with you.

I had a salesmen come to my door August 15, 2023 promoting a company that had come to the area Alta Pest control. I initially told him I was not interested because I couldn't commit to $80 a month. He sat on my porch for an hour talking to me. I finally agreed to quartly treatments with a complete understanding I could cancel at anytime for any reason. Their product was supposed to be animal friendly. My dog has an intense allergic skin reaction and both my cats ended up with sever respatory infections. I proceeded to call to cancel due to this reaction and they informed me it would be $500 to do so after I was told I could cancel anytime for any reason and was never told at any point in time there would be a cost. I signed a 12 month contract for quarterly service. I told them I wasn't paying $500 to cancel and told them never to return to my property. They agreed to drop the price to $230 to get out of the contract I told them I should not have to pay anything and I should have till then end of my contract to do anything. They finally agreed and said they canceled any future visits. A month later I get a txt saying someone would be at my house that morning for the treatment and I would be charged $80 for the visit. I was finally able to contact someone after calling the office for 2 hours with no answer and again told them to cancel all visits and I would pay them the $230 after the first of the year before the contact was up. I finally got them to agree to it once again and here we are today Dec 11, ************************************** they are sending my account to collections before the contract is up and violating our agreement to get it paid before the contract was up. All the people I have talked to are completely clueless on any previous interaction. It is the worst company I have ever have the displeasure of working with.Business Response

On May 4th 2023 i was approached at my home by an Alta sales person offering to spray for mosquitos at 1/2 price as they were in the area and if the treatment was satisfactory I could have an agreement for continuing service but there was no obligation. I said i would accept the one time treatment at 1/2 price but was NOT commiting to any agreement. Then an agreement appeared on my phone and i told the sales person very clearly that i was NOT signing it! Then 3 months later, they showed up claiming that they were here to spray for mosquitos. I told them very firmly that i never agreed to an ongoing service and was refusing the treatment. They acknowledged that there were notes in their files that said that i did not want service and left.Today November 21st, i received a statement for ***** for service (invoice *******). A few days prior, we picked up on our Ring door bell that there was someone spraying in our front yard. I was not home so sent a message to my son to go tell the person to leave our property however by the time he went they had gone. So today i called to protest this statement and they are trying to say that they have a signed agreement. I told them that i never signed any agreement and made it very clear that i have no intention of paying the statement.Business Response

I was approached at my home by an Alta salesman. He told us services where provided monthly and satisfaction was quaranteed. When service was provided it was not satisfactory. They would **me unannounced, didn't leave an explanation of work done, and **uld not get through gate so he **uld not treat about 2/3 of property. When asked to re-do work I was charged. Mosquitos where as bad as ever, ants remain after several treatments. Now i find out that i will be charged every month but only get 6 treatments. I know this is in the **ntract and I signed it but i was sold on the plan and asked to sign. **************** is not ** operative and I am not satisfied. I paid for 1 year of service maintaining rodent traps in my attic, but when I found 2 dead rodents rotting in the traps I tried contacting Alta Pest Control multiple times to get them to come out and dispose of them since I had paid for them to do so, but was unable to get anyone to respond for over 24 hours.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:They are offering only a 50% refund, but the portion of the work that they did was not done correctly so they failed with the attic exclusion, sanitizing, and service and I am therefore requesting a full refund. Please see attachment for more details regarding the attic inspection we had done by a different company after Alta had finished.

Alta Pest Control refused to terminate service with me, *******************************. Having reached out to them several times to discontinue service, I was informed that the contract was in my husbands name, ***********************, and therefore I was unable to end the service. As an aside, all of Alta Pest Control phone calls are recorded.As a result of my inability to end the service, my husband informed the technician, upon arrival, that the services of Alta Pest Control were no longer needed. According to ****, the technician performed the service, but according to ***********************, he did not. Therefore, *** did not pay the last bill.As a result, my name was submitted to a credit agency. I called the credit agency and got a voice mail which told me to contact the company that reported me. So, I called Alta Pest Control, and after waiting 15 to 20 minutes for the manager to speak with me, I hung up.My question is, how can a company send my name to a credit agency if I don't have an account with them? Also, the credit agency had no account number associated with my name. This also affected my credit score and my line of credit.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
In response to your letter of apology, I have to say that is way to little to late. Your egregious behavior has reduced my credit score significantly. This blocked funds normally available to me and reduced the likelihood of getting loans in the future. This also will affect my ability to get a security clearance in future job applications, should I need it.
Your lack luster apology in no way remedies the issues that arose from your actions. A onetime payment of $5,000.00 will be sufficient to settle this situation amicably without the involvement of other parties.

I signed up for pest control with Alta. I emailed after several months to cancel and was advised that cancellations are not allowed by email and I would need to call. The next day I called and spoke with a representative and cancelled my account. I continue to be charged the monthly service charge of $81.68 despite cancelling with them.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: i emailed this company on 10/30 and asked to cancel. They would not accept cancellation by email and asked me to call. I called this business on 10/31 and spoke to an agent and made clear that i wanted to cancel my account. Then they charged me again. I **** received another email from them that asked me to call them again to cancel. I don't know how I can be more clear with them. They don't want to accept my cancellation and continue to ask me to contact them.
