Two and a half years ago I got a knock on my front door by a young man soliciting business for CMR Roofing. He explained that we had a tornado in the area a few months ago and he would like to inspect our roof for damage. After a brief inspection he advised that we would be able to have our roof replaced. after two and a half years, CMR has done exactly nothing for us and now at settlement time they want 25% of the settlement to let me out of the contract. They have done NOTHING for us since we signed the contract. They began by seeking $135,000 for a new roof. Now they say they will finish the job for $71,000.I have found another roofing company that will do the job for $43,750. the amount of my settlement is $56,299. CMR has slow walked this process and been unresponsive until now. I don't want to do business with CMR. Their reputation in this community is terrible and I feel they are being unreasonable in their pricing and the amount they are requesting to let me out of the contract.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. CMR contacted me Immediately after receiving my complaint and in a very pleasant phone call the Director of Operations resolved the problem in seconds. I am now very pleased with the outcome. It seems as though CMR is striving to make a comeback!

Nice guy called me and wanted me to drop the bbb dispute. Told me if I paid for the material he could have my roof done in 60 days. I told him I think that should work. Before he hung up I asked him if I could call or text the number to get a hold of him. He said yes. Preferably text because hes in meetings and busy but that should work. Well I talk to my husband and he had a few more questions and so far no response. Tomorrow will be the fourth day. Seems like waiting is all I do with these people.

I had CMR replace my roof in April of 2022. Over the months of June and July 2024 I have developed numerous leaks. CMR gave me a five year warranty. I called and filed a warranty claim and was told CMR has voided all warranties for work performed before Hurricane ***.

Well, to be fair the address that you provided in your complaint is the wrong address. The address that you provided in the *** in your most recent response is the correct address. Apologies for not being able to find the wrong address. In response to the initial complaint, The homeowner was well aware that the roof is no longer under warranty. A year ago we were called out for damage to the roof due to the hurricane and the homeowner paid us $650 for that repair. Now there is new damage and the homeowner called us out and just like a year ago it is not from the original workmanship. We are more than happy to repair the roof, but it will be an additional service fee.

      Customer Answer

      Complaint: 22028702

I am rejecting this response because:

The current issues are precisely workmanship issues and have nothing to do with hurricane damage.  The flashing from the sloped roof lines to the vertical walls was not done properly and was not anywhere near ******* roofing standards.  This has been verified by independent professional roofing contractors.  This is nothing to do with a hurricane, this is clearly without question, workmanship issues from the original installation in 2022 which is what the 5 year warranty clearly covers.

      Business Response

If the flashings were done wrong, the leaks would have occurred much sooner than after a hurricane. Again, CMR has not refused to come out and investigate, we are just saying that due to the hurricane that it is most likely that the warranty is not applicable. We have to make sure that the customer is aware of this before we come out, to avoid confrontation about service fee.

Over the past two years, my home has been plagued by an incomplete roof repair that has caused significant distress and concern. The roofing company, CMR Roofing, initially started the project but abruptly ceased all work, leaving my roof partially exposed and vulnerable to the elements. Despite numerous attempts to contact the company for an update or resolution, I have received no response or communication from them. This incomplete work has left my home susceptible to severe weather conditions, particularly as we approach the hurricane season. The exposed portions of the roof make my home highly vulnerable to damage from heavy rains, strong winds, and potential flooding, posing a severe risk to the property's structural integrity and its occupants' safety.Furthermore, due to the unfinished state of the roof, my home has now become uninsurable. Insurance companies have declined coverage, citing the incomplete roof repair as a significant liability. This lack of insurance leaves me financially exposed, with no safety net in case of storm damage or other incidents that could affect the roof and the rest of the property. The prolonged nature of this situation has caused immense stress and financial strain, as I am unable to secure the necessary repairs to make my home safe and insurable once more. The lack of communication from CMR Roofing has only exacerbated the issue, leaving me with no clear path to resolution. As a homeowner, it is deeply troubling to face the reality that my home is not adequately protected, especially during a time when severe weather is imminent. I am seeking legal assistance to address this matter, as I believe that CMR Roofing has failed to fulfill its contractual obligations and has left me in a precarious and untenable situation.

I hired CMR to replace my roof after Hurricane ***. Once the materials were delivered to my home the roof sat exposed, with only the underlayment, for 3 months. Shortly after I received a lien on my home from the supply company Suncoast Roofers Supply. I made multiple attempts to have someone rectify the lien and I either received no answer or someone random saying they were handling it, but it was never resolved. All payments on my end have been made to CMR. I have since found out they have been contacting my insurance company still requesting more money, but nothing to me about the lien. I have now received a summons for court regarding the lien and threats of possible foreclosure if the lien is not paid. They owe $8,266.75 to the supply company as of now, which is money I unfortunately don't have.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/01/2024

At this point the client still owes CMR $9,501.08, which is at the mortgage company. The homeowner decided to handle their own mortgage process so CMR had no viability other than there are still funds being held in escrow that the customer has to request to get released. Due to the open balance, the supplier has not been paid and therefore a lien was filed. CMR would love to have this resolved as well but until the money is released from the mortgage company, the lien has to remain. We have offered the client to pay the amount owed to SRS directly and CMR will notate our account accordingly. Finally, the items supplemented to the insurance company were items already acknowledged by the carrier that we had to provide documentation for once we performed the work. All work was completed as promised in a timely manner and per the contract. CMR just needs cooperation from the homeowner to resolve the mortgage fund issue.

I am rejecting this response because: My insurance company has issued all the funds that are due. I have paid all payments to CMR that are due per my contract which totals $25,169.05. Whomever is doing the fact checking has completely wrong information and is lying! Additionally, the money for the materials was paid by me on 9/27/23. How does it take 10 months to pay for materials on CMR's end? I also reached out to the supply company who states I am one of 50+ with unpaid materials from CMR. Please recheck you information, because I owe nothing further to CMR and this lien needs to be paid.

With all do respect, you have a balance with CMR therefore a lien was placed. Whether it is from *** or CMR it will be a lien until the balance is paid. If CMR clears the *** lien, there is still a balance to CMR, therefore CMR would file the lien. So regardless of who the lien is through, there is balance and a lien. CMR would love to clear this up as soon as possible. The client can pay the lien from *** and provide documentation and we will update the file accordingly. But until a payment is made, the lien has to remain.

I am rejecting this response because: Please verify what amount is due to CMR? I want an exact amount! I would be happy to pay what is owed but once again no one can make a phone call to me or tell me what is due or what has went wrong. As far as I know, I have paid every dime to CMR per my contract, so to say I owe an amount and then not tell me how much does not make sense. I would have loved to write a 5 star review for the roof I received but after this nonsense there is no way! No one is capable of picking up the phone and calling me on this matter? Wouldn't that be more professional than arguing with me on this site? You cannot place a lien on my home since the work has been completed over 90 days ago. The lien from the supply company falls on CMR and needs to be paid by them. It should not have taken a year to get to this point. I want answers!

We are a little confused by this response because I just spoke with the client yesterday and the call was ended by the client needed to confirm that the payments we received are all of the payments was made to us.  There was an apparent payment made for a change order but we have no record of that payment.  That was the disputed payment on the invoice.  The updated invoice was also sent to the client.  The client was leaving for her wedding and was going to connect back with me when she returned.  I am not sure how the response from today is in line with the conversation from yesterday.

I had unfortunate experience with CMR construction and roofing company. In March 2022 their salesperson *************************** showed up at my door asking about my roof and if he can inspect it. After checking my roof he sad that I have wind damage and insurance should pay for it. I told him that I am very sick, going through chemotherapy now and do not have any energy to deal with it. He said they will take care of everything and if I have any leakage they will put a tarp free. I signed papers, he never mentioned anything about 25% cancelation fee. My insurance company UPC went bankruptcy and FIGA took over. My roof got in a very bad shape, leaking everywhere and they put tarp 2 times. I asked CMR to give me final price for the roof only without any additional repairs and I will pay it by myself and if by any reason they can't do this, let me know and I will hire somebody else, because roof can't wait any longer. For abut 4-5 months I never heard from them, they never reply to my calls, emails, texts. I couldn't wait any longer plus HOA wanted to fine me and I hired another company. My roof is done. I was told that if I would do this earlier it will cost me few thousand less and I wouldn't need to put second tarp. FIGA finally came up with some money, less than I paid and CMR right away send me bill for $12,618 which include cancelation fee and 2 tarps, $1861 each for not more than 30 min work. I tried to talk to CMR (*********************), who was very irritated and rude, telling him that I will pay for tarp even it's overpriced but not cancellation fee because they never brought cancelation fee to my attention and they cancelled me not other way around. Looks to me they found way to make money by not doing any work (I read quite a few the same complaints against CMR). I am 71 years old senior citizen, living on SS. Now I can't get back some insurance money until they sign release. Your assistance and help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, looking forward to hear from you.

I am writing to formally complain regarding their failure to complete the installation of a new roof on my house, despite nearly a year having passed since the project began.I contracted them to install a new roof on my home almost a year ago yet to date, the work remains unfinished.Over the past year, I have made numerous attempts to contact them to inquire about the status of the project and request either the completion of the work or a refund of my payment. Each time, I have been met with delays, excuses, and a lack of clear communication. My calls and emails often go unanswered, and when I do manage to speak with someone, I am given the runaround with promises that are never fulfilled. This delay has caused significant inconvenience and stress. My home is in disrepair, and I am unable to seek alternative solutions without the return of my funds.

CMR waited to respond because we were hoping to have positive news about the permit being approved.  As of today the permit is still pending with the county.  My team is checking everyday.  As soon as the permit is available we will start immediately.  We apologize for the wait.  We unfortunately cannot control the time of the permit.

Where do I start? We contracted with CMR for our roof. We gave them the insurance check for almost $64,000. After many calls, emails etc the roof was tore off and put on. The problem is they used a sub contractor for the job. They had the sub contractor order the tile. After some research the sub contractor is from Texas. The new roof was a disaster. It took almost another whole pallet of tiles to repair. I had leaks in the ceilings. The roof still failed final inspection 2 times. I guess 3 times is a charm. I text *** at CMR about The supplier *** Supply. Wanted verification they were paid. *** text me yes they are paid. I call *** Supply and nope not paid. I wait a week ask him again. His response was Ill take care of it. Well guess what the mail man brought to my door. You guessed it a certified letter informing me I now have a lien on my home for over $17,000. My husband called *** and he says he wasnt aware??? He then says its the sun contractors fault it was not paid. Contacted the sub contractor and guess what he has not been paid by CMR. My husband calls *** again. **** responseyou still owe us $4,000. These people should be in jail. My husband tells him *** we still dont have gutters and we are missing facia. Now we are being told once gutters are on and they are paid the $4000, they will pay the lien???? They now wont return texts, phone calls, emails nothing! My husband called the sub contractor again and as of 2 days ago he still has not been paid by CMR. Now the gutter company said they will be out in 3 days. My guess is they wont pay them and I will have another lien.Bottom line they have used my $64,000 since early November and all I got out of it was a lien on my property. *** also informed me it wasnt my money it was theirs since it came from my insurance company. You cant make this insanity up. They are robbing ***** to pay ****.

CMR was just made aware that the lien on the home is from supplies purchased by one of our subs.  We are in the process of clearing that lien and will provide the Homeowners a copy of that lien waiver.  However, the customer does owe a balance for the final amount.  We can work that part out after the lien is cleared.  We apologize for the inconvenience and and will rectify it immediately.

I am rejecting this response because they have known about the lien since May 13.  I have documentation to prove that.  While I appreciate the call from *** today and I hope he is true to his word but until this lien is removed the complaint stands.  And if you look at my complaint you will see I stated we have a balance of $4000 after job is finished.  They just showed up today to fix facia and install the gutters.  So the money was not due yet.  Dont get me started on the damage done to my home that I will have to pay to fix.  At this point all I want is the lien off my home.  Takes a lot of nerve to say we have a balance when you have had over $63,000 of my money since late November 2023 and have paid NOBODY as of yet.  I can honestly say I pay my bills.

get the lien off my home and release statements from all vendors, subcontractors and prove to me wrong.

CMR has paid the supplier for the lien that was placed by the supplier for materials purchased by the subcontractor. Documentation has been sent to the client and has been received. This matter has been resolved.

I am rejecting this response because:
While *** has shown me a receipt from *** Supply as of 06/11/2024 I still have a lien on my home.  I have not received unconditional wavers from all suppliers and sub contractors so this will not happen in the future.  Once the lien is released and I have official documentation stating its released and the wavers I will gladly post the issue has been resolved.

Contracted and paid CMR Roofing in November 2023 for my new roof. Still 6 months later they have not started my roof or will call me back. After endless calls and messages to them, they still do not respond. I have multiple leaks in my roof every time it rains. They came twice at $2,000 each time to put a temporary tarp on the roof. And removed the first without my permission or me being present when done. Therefore causing me the additional $2,000 to have the second one put up. I need the roof replaced permanently and it's been too long. In the meantime I also got an estimate for 1/2 the price and could be done in a week with a reputable company.

CMR apologizes for the delay.  We are confirming that the permit is good to go.  Once we have that we should be starting right away.  We are trying to have this started by next week.  We appreciate the patience of the client.

I am rejecting this response because:  The permit was issued before they started the roof.  This complaint is now regarding to finish the roof.  This has been 5 weeks now, when other neighbors get theirs done in one day.  It continues to rain inside my house causing mold, stains and other damage because the roof and gutters have been removed and not replaced.

CMR definitely hates to have any roof leaks.  Unfortunately, due to the dry in inspection necessary to be completed before the shingles can be installed and the enormous amount of rain in that time, we did encounter some leakage, that we are going to be addressing.  The install is happening on Thursday, weather permitting and will solve the issues.  The interior will be addressed after the roof is installed.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  We will get this all wrapped up for you.  This should resolve the complaint.
