I paid a 50% deposit on June 29th for $2,125 for a shed to be built September 20th. I understood the schedule being so far out at the time due to the builder being busy. A week before the build date I was contacted by A&L sheds notifying me that my build would be pushed back two months with $50.00 off a week which I was not too happy with but ok that's fine. I was then notified again that my build was pushed back another two months into mid January of 2024. I was offered a refund or keep the $50.00 off a week. I requested my refund and was told it would be 30 days. My initial request for a refund was 9-18-23 and they claimed I would receive my refund by 10-28 that was low and behold pushed back to 10-29. Today it is 10-30 and when I reached out to find out the status of my refund I was told they cant do a credit card refund and it would need to be mailed. I asked to speak to Amanda and had to "schedule" a call with her regarding this. I asked to give me a location to come pick it up again told I need to schedule an appt. I was patient for this refund but now that window has closed and I am still trying to get my money back. Very sketchy business tactics.Business Response

Hello! As you are aware, my husband severely injured himself earlier this year which has caused a huge backlog. We are however doing everything we can to offer a discount for the extra wait time or process a refund. However, the refunds are under normal circumstances for non refundable because we purchase materials for your project at the time of booking to maximize our discount and be able to provide a good price.
I apologize, as the owner, I wear many hats and many times I am not available immediately. My staff has access to my schedule and can schedule calls/meetings where available. I believe Amy had scheduled you for the very next day.
We have spoken and messages multiple times since this complaint was filed, and I believe we were able to resolve everything. Please let me know if you need anything else!

On December 21, 2022 I paid in full the amount of $17,222.00 to AL Sheds for a tiny home to be built. I was given a start build date of March 13, 2023. I received no communication from AL Sheds to inform me that my build date has been pushed back to May 1st and that nobody showed up after I took PTO to be there to begin the build. I wasted 1 week of PTO from work. On 4/28/23 I was given another push back date of 6/19/23. On 5/5/23 I was given another push back date of the “end of June”. On 5/12/23 I was given another push back date of “first week of July”. On that same day I asked for my refund. Since 5/12/23 I have only reviewed a partial refund in the amount of $5,444.40. AL Sheds still owes me $11,777.60. I also paid for permits and groundwork to have the house built in the amount of an additional $6,488.23.Business Response

Hello Mr *****,
As you are aware, Santiago's reconstructive surgery on his foot in January and extended healing time has caused all of our builds to be delayed. We apologize for any lack of communication on our part, and we offered a full refund, even though our deposits are non-refundable. Everyone was offered the opportunity to wait or have a refund. We understand the issues you have had on your end and the reason you prefer to have a refund. I am in the process of sending over our refunds and will complete yours promptly. Thank you for your understanding.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
This does not resolve anything and I still do not have 100% of my money refunded to me when nothing has been done. The only resolution regarding this issue is to refund 100% of my money back to me. Partial payments will not suffice!!

Hi Mr *****,
As we have already discussed, this deposit is a non-refundable deposit that because of the circumstances we have agreed to allow, along with anyone else affected by the delay. The options are we can do the refund or we can come and build your building which I had already offered, and you declined. I realize the timing of your refund is an inconvenience to you, and we will process it as soon as we can.

Feb 5th we paid $8727 down on a 16x30 cabin shell A&L were to build for us with a May 1st start date. We were all ready to get it built when we were told there would be a delay to June 1st due to Santiago's broken ankle. A week before June 1st, we are notified that there are 25 or 26 jobs ahead of ours and we are being pushed out to the end of July for our start date. They offered $100 off per week of delay. At first, we were willing to wait, but not with it being so far out. We needed our cabin in May, not August. We requested a refund on June 1st. We were told they would need up to 20 business days to process the refund! 20 BUSINESS DAYS! They took our money in1day but are dragging their feet refunding it when they couldn't get the job done. So far they have refunded $1000. We are still waiting for the rest.Business Response

As per our previous correspondence, my husband and co owner had reconstructive surgery on his broken ankle and unfortunately took 4 months to heal. This created a backlog on our family business schedule for our builds. This falls under the force majeure clause in our terms and conditions, which does not hold us liable for the unforeseeable schedule delays. However, despite this, we have given everyone the option to wait on the list, with a credit given for the wait and inconvenience, or cancel and receive a full refund. We are doing this in attempt to do the "right" thing and not cause any further inconvenience to our customers. However, as was explained, the NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT, will take up to 20 business days to process, especially for bigger builds, which include items that are non refundable on our end and will have to be reallocated to another build. We are very fortunate that the majority of our customers are willing to wait, recognizing that the quality of our work is the most important and is also why we cannot simply hire anyone else to take over the building process. We stand by our workmanship, quality, and guarantee. We certainly understand those that are unable wait, and we will process these refunds. Thank you for your patience.Customer Answer

We understand you haven't received your refund yet, and I definitely apologize about the delay. These are non-refundable deposits that we have agreed to refund to you because we were unable to build your building in the originally quoted timeframe. We do not have any intent to keep your money, and are processing all of our refunds, in order requested. As to your claim that we are scam, that is simply not true. We had absolutely no control over my husband breaking his ankle and being unable to walk for 4 months. I have a long list of references that can attest that we have always been forthright and are doing the best we can to complete the builds now that my husband is walking again. I'm sorry we couldn't make it to yours in the time you needed it, and I'm sorry that caused an inconvenience on your end. I have personally reached out to you without a response, so feel free to call me directly to discuss things.Initial Complaint
