In May of this year, 2022. I refinanced my car loan from Exeter To Foursight Bank. Since I no longer have Exeter they are suppose to issue my Gap insurance back that I had paid all that time because I never used it and all other final amounts. When I contacted Exeter they said a check was mailed in May for the amount of only $1,027. Since I've spoke with them every single time they tell me," The check was sent back because the apartment number on file is wrong" I've supposably spoke with supervisors, manager, many reps to confirm my mailing address is 1155 w grove parkway apt 242 Tempe, Az XXXXX countless times! And this business keeps lying saying it was sent to 1155 W Grove Pkwy apt 2 Tempe Az XXXXX and now they have to stop the check and resubmit it. And it'll be another 7-10 days. This has not stopped. I keep having to call them and they never can connect me with a Supervisor or Manager. It's a fight all the time. It's really frustrating that I've gone over the correct mailing address over and over and with the one manager I've gotten to talk to supposably and it's still not being delivered because the same reason supposably. Exeter seems like a scam. I just want all the money I should be refunded to be refunded and Exeter needs a evaluation cause it just really seems like not legit!Business Response

To Whom It May Concern:
On September 2, 2022, Exeter Finance LLC ("Exeter") received notice regarding a complaint filed through the Better Business Bureau. Exeter would like to thank ******* ******** ("********") for the opportunity to address the concerns outlined in the complaint. Exeter's success is based on customer satisfaction with our products and services, so the issues presented in this complaint are taken seriously and every effort is made to provide a prompt and equitable response.
Exeter received the payoff for ********' account on April 21, 2022. The account was paid in full as of that date. On May 12, 2022, Exeter sent ******** a paid in full letter and a refund for the payoff overage to the address on file.
On July 29, 2022, ******** provided Exeter with an updated home address and requested a copy of the paid in full letter. At that time, it was determined that ******** did not receive the refund check that was sent to their previous address. As such, a request was sent to have the original check cancelled and reissued to be sent to the updated address.
On August 18, 2022, ********' refund check was resent, regrettably, the apartment number was excluded. As such, the refund check was returned to Exeter as undeliverable by the post office. Exeter apologizes to ******** for the error and the inconvenience it *** have caused. To remediate ******** complaint amicably, Exeter cancelled the original checks and reissued a new check that was sent to ******** updated address on September 12, 2022.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not agree with Exeter for the the fact that they are not telling all the facts. I called almost just about every week and a few times back to back days ensuring the correct address was on file. Instead on there part they didn't put the correct apartment number even tho I was providing it to them then when I call back and ask why haven't I received the check or why on my mobile dash view I still see the wrong apartment number or no apartment number sometimes. They always make it seems like It's my fault or I given the wrong address. I spoke with "supervisors" (Named Nicole; two times) to ensure after all the drama, that the address is correct and still! When I call them they're purposely not putting on me address. This has been months of this. They are trying not to pay me my check.
They supposably send it out then when I call to ask about it, again, they tell me they're sorry the apartment number is wrong, did I move? Then proceed to tell me it's going to be another 7-10 business days to send another one out. This goes on and on and on. The process repeats. Exeter is awful and operated by scam. I'm tired of them delaying to pay me my money they owe me!

I would like to bring to your attention the lack of knowledge and skills of this company's employees, and managers. My car was paid off by another finance company back in June I updated my address and I have a paper to prove it was changed in the proper amount of time from this company, however on July 15th this company still somehow managed to send the check to the wrong address I have called in NUMEROUS amounts of times and spoken with multiple agents and 3 managers I was advised last Thursday to wait until last Friday which I did and nothing came and I was told to call on Monday which I did and I was told that even though this issue was not my fault that I had to wait another 10 business days before they would ship another check which is absurd. I have waited long enough and I have spoken to another manager yesterday and she told me I had to have a FedEx account in order for them to overnight the check for me which is also insane this is something this company dropped the ball on and if I do not receive the check by Friday 9/2, not only will I involve my lawyer. I have been given nothing but the run around since this whole process started back in June this company's agents and manager are not on the same page in the very beginning I got several different stories from them all they are a bunch of liars and scammers and they steal hard-working peoples money.Business Response

I refinanced my vehicle from Exeter Finance to **** Federal Credit Union. I sent the check to the address given to me by Exeter Finance to completely pay off the auto loan first taken out with Exeter Finance. Now Exeter Finance is telling me they never received the check. And are withholding the Title from **** Federal Credit Union. When I last called they made two statements to me. First they said they never received the check. Second they said the address the check was sent to was the wrong address. But yet Exeter Finance was the one whom had given me the address. Now this may result in penalties from **** Federal Credit Union that I am not liable for. When I last called, the call representative told me I had sent it to the wrong address and that I had to find the check. He would not say that it was in their possession but did imply the check was in contact with Exeter Finance personnel, but the check will have to be sent to the correct address. And The representative also implied it was my fault and I was responsible for the transit of said check. All of which is absurd because I sent the check to the address given to me by said company.Business Response

I paid off my car June 30, 2022. Around July 17ish, 2022 received noticed that the loan was paid off from Exeter. Around July 19, 2022 they contract my dealer to get the gap premium refund to them and not me. The premium cost was included in the loan so it was already paid by me when I paid off the loan. Still have not received my refund.Business Response

Exeter Finance Corp financed the purchase of my vehicle.
During the Covid pandemic I requested 3 payments to be deferred past my original loan maturity date.
A new maturity date was applied to my loan being July of the current year 2022.
After finishing all scheduled payments based on new maturity date I received a final bill to be paid immediately after contract maturity date in excess of $2000 (two thousand dollars)
I made the payments and do not owe anything anymore but have yet to receive my title also.
I have been requesting a copy of my original contract for my accountant to review terms and determine if an overpayment happened but they continue to tell me it will be emailed to me without this happening.
I have contacted them via phone and email over 6 times and still have not received a copy of my contract.
Please help me get a copy of my original contract as I believe there was overpayment.
My email address on their files is *************@hotmail.com

We purchased a vehicle from a local dealership and Exeter was the chosen finance option. My fiancé added my name to the paperwork on the day he signed the documents and everything was ok. Then Covid struck our family 3 times and all 3 times we notified the company and made arrangements with supervisors. As the loan has progressed the customer service has become horrible. They call my phone several times a day and hang up. Some reps will talk to me and allow me to continue with arrangements. I've been advised by reps to get Covid vaccine, take up a second job, marry my fiancé so they can talk to me. They told me that there was zero communication between us and the company and all arrangements were void because I was not on loan. So here we are in repossession and the company will not honor anything that supervisors have worked out with Us because I'm not authorized to set arrangements. All we are told is that the reps were misinformed, we need to learn financial responsibility, and that Covid is no longer in pandemic modeBusiness Response

I checked my credit report and noticed I had late payments from EXETER FINANCE LLC . At the time, I was transitioning between jobs and going through an economic hardship. As you can see, I have made most of my payments on time so I am asking in goodwill faith for this one time to please remove these late payments from my account. I am trying to increase my score to qualify for a mortgage and I would greatly appreciate if you guys would forgive the late payments.Business Response

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
