      DO NOT ORDER FIREARMS HERE! I ordered a CZ1012 bronze finish shotgun in April of 2023. Academy sent me a Smith & Wesson .38 Special handgun instead of my shotgun. They then asked me to reorder it, which I did. They did not send a new shotgun, but the one that had already been delivered. The shotgun case was broken on every corner, and they assured me they would have a new one shipped.
      As of today, September 20th, 2023, 5 months after originally ordering the firearm, the wrong case is delivered to my house. The escalation team does not care that I have waited this long, they in fact told me that I should be satisfied that Academy is trying to make things right on their end.
      This gun is priced $150 over what other retailers are selling this for (**** ***, getting it shipped to a pawn-shop for a $10 sign over fee).
      This is a JOKE of a business!! You ship me the WRONG $800 shotgun and then keep me in limbo for over 5 months! Every customer care representative has told me "we are so sorry for the inconvenience." There has not been 1 escalation team member, the ones who should really take care of the big problems customers have, like sending your customer the WRONG FIREARM! That has cared enough to call the store I picked this firearm up from. They all want to send an email from their desk, and not take any ownership of the issue. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ACADEMY AGAIN! You have lost more than one customer FOR LIFE!

      I understand the low reviews now. I was trying to order a firearm to ship to the store. I'm active-duty military. Being that my driver's license are from my home state (where I entered service). We aren't required to change our driver's license or vehicle tag in most states. When I say "We" I mean anyone in the military with an ID from their HOR. Most of us move around to different States throughout our career. I'm assuming that is why we don't have to change our Driver's License. We can buy a weapon in the store with documents proving where we live, but we can't make an order online. We go to the firearms desk and they tell us they can't help us make the order. They can sell us a weapon off the self, but if it's not in the store they can't help us. They (the guys in the store) are just as frustrated. I called the customer service desk and they advised it just not possible. They told me to go talk to the desk at the store. Then laughed because they knew I had already done that. The customer service person contacted the supervisor and just said due to the way online orders are there it's not possible. Even though the store advised they (customer service) has done it before. This can be a simple fix either way. Academy uses the ID me system. They could simply open that to verify someone is military and a second check to verify someone has selected the right store pickup location. Ship the weapon to the store. If the person doesn't show up with the right information still charge them the cost of shipping. The store still has the weapon to sell.

      The stores are crap. Trying to do anything online with them is horrible. Then they put out a 20% off Sitewide offer. This is a exact copy of the Exclusions. They would be better off just posting the 4 to 5 things you may actually be able to use the "offer" on.

      Doesn't honor gift cards in California. I received a gift card, as a gift. Have not been able to use it because my address is California. Today I thought I would send the item to my brother's address in NC and pick it up when I visit. Now Academy won't let me use an additional form of payment ($5) over the amount of the gift card to purchase the item, because my billing address is California. I chatted with customer service. No way around this. Quite a disingenuous racket since the git card does not advertise that it does not ship to CA, HI, or AK. I'm disgusted with the lack of service.

      In store has a few selections so I have been buying online for years, unfortunately I also live in an area where packages get taken a lot. I have had a few packages either refunded due to being out of stock or reshipped ,recently I was told that I could not get a refund or a reshipment . I purchased two pairs of sneakers on a hot deal flash sale I had no choice but to have it shipped to my home due to unavailability in store , nor could it be shipped to the store. I filed a claim with delivery company and was denied and told they did their part and delivered the package, which was left on the front porch on a chair in a package that clearly said academy on it so when I got home there was only a chair didn’t think nothing of it due to it wasn’t the day it was supposed to be delivered, I had gotten sick and had to go to the hospital but almost two weeks later was sent an email asking me to leave a review so that is when I called&was told I had to file a claim with delivery company, did that was denied I called back with that info and was then told I had to have a complaint with Jso and delivery company so a few days passed and I thought about so I called Jso and was told I can make a complaint online &would receive an email to see if it was approved because in the past I have been told of the packages I purchased were not over two hundred dollars they can’t make a report, so I made the report brought it into a location &was told a few days later that there was still nothing they could do because I have had a few reshape / refunds in the past that there is a clause when purchasing online that this could happen..flash deals online don’t give you the option on where to leave packages,due to low availability of sizes you can’t pick up in store, so I am out two pairs of sneakers but still have to pay for them. I’m not sure how they call this professional but I don’t believe it’sfair for neither them or me people get away with stealing packages& the company don’t care .

      The absolute worst firearm purchase ever!! Went in to buy a handgun with my concealed application approved but the jerk didn’t want to sell it due to the name. I have bought and bought just bought a 308 at this same location and not once had a problem. There is no issue issue is don’t make ur own rules up. Look at my profile and how many i have bought.

      What’s the difference in waiting 3 days and getting it today..

      I don’t think there is is there..

      Horrible service. Have spent thousands at my local academy. Myself and another gentlemen had to wait over 2 hours at a gun counted to be walked out of the store (standard procedure). But this “manager” was in a meeting, and the poor employee kept making us wait and wait. He would keep calling for a manager on the radio to walk us out and no one would respond. He kept asking for assistance and no manager would arrive. After 2 hours of waiting (mind you there was no one else, only me and the other gentlemen waiting for the same thing) I decided to leave.
      I’m not upset I did not get the firearm, I’m upset they made me waste my time. No update was ever given (they should be out soon, or give us 30 mins) nothing. Just waiting and waiting. Horrible service.

      Tried to purchase a firearm for myself today and because my husband looked at the gun first so they wouldn't sell it to me. James acted like because I was a woman that the gun couldn't be for me. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. He was so rude to us. This was at the Cookeville Tn location.
