I went ahead and applied online to rent a gaming desktop that had to be ordered to the local store. Your website insisted on a full social to proceed, there was no other option.I was denied. I was called by the store today, told the manager will not order anything in due to "lack of funds" and that I was not allowed to rent due after my full social was pulled up.I have yet to check credit to see if this has made a hard impact, but my credit is on freeze with all 3 ********* by my own doing, to protect it from family who was running my credit for their own wants. If rent a center was having me run my credit for a product, the site assured me it did not run my credit. The site insisted I entered my full social for a product that had to be ordered in. Which goes against the local store manager's will of not ordering anything. I was told by the female employee on the phone, my credit, even if on a freeze, wouldn't be denied because it wasn't a check. If so, why was I denied? I can not rent from you now due to the falsified website claims, you running my credit illegally, for a product falsely advertised. I would like this cleared and the ability to rent from my local store, fix this.Business Response

Within the past year I have applied for the rent to program through rent a center, I had received a 70 that they delivered, and broken after they dropped off the tv and left, still in tbe box rather than helping me out the delivery driver was more worried about a transaction in buying my bar from me rather than helping me take the tv out of the box , so now after they got wanted they wanted, I had to wait almost 2 weeks to a month to take the ** out of the box when I had assistance. To find that the ** was cracked from the back the glass was seperating from the screen which left a crack down the side. So I contacted them to have them pick up the ** and issue me a new one , and file a claim. Which they denied swiftly charging me for a ** I did not break, I will not be paying for it and they charged me anyway adding the full balance of the ** to my bill, and looking online they are charging me. Twice than what the ** is sold for , then they deliver me a 55 inch ** , and makes me scrap the faulty one they delivered , which I had the good mind not to get , but they just left the box in my front as I was gone for the day, any porch pirate would have a had a free 55 inch, then bring the box in the house as I see it just sitting outside of my house, next I opened it to automatically test it, which it worked for a good 5 days before it glitched out , and would not start , meaning something electrical shorted in it, remote didnt even work . So I had to scrap that one , and I informed them of what happened , had no faith in filing a claim rent a center is famous for denying and charging people for faulty equipment they delivered, as if they are scamming people into contracts. [THIS COMPANY HAS BREACHED CONTRACT NOT ONCE , BUT TWICE , DELIVERING FAULTY EQUIPMENT] I inform them to close my account, they will receive no monthly payments for merchandise they delivered that was faulty , I want them to stop popping up at my house every other day unannounced.Business Response

This complaint is about Rent a Center breaching contract(2x) , on grounds of false advertising, (1) Inflated price I had to pay monthly a totaled amount of $1,000.00 with no product from them as if I had them on payroll or soemthing (2) failure to add , and disclose rental liability waiver ,to customer (3) adding the cost of the tv they delivered that was broken to the new tv contract, (4) inflating the price of the tv for the (2nd) contract , failing to disclose customer rights, and failure to add product liability waiver, or disclosure , thus holding me responsible for faulty equipment they delivered, and continued to make me pay on it by adding Delivering me two faulty TVs , first one was a 70 inch that was cracked before I even took it out of the box, (2nd) was a 55 inch TV they sent to me that had electrical problems, and stopped working , which I was responsible for taking both televisions to e-waste recycling by myself. Being that rent a center refused to come get them, I informed them to close the account down , and they were in breach of contract twice selling me faulty equipment, and committing fraud by having me sign a contract before testing the item or viewing the items to verify functionality, and condition, last false advertising of prices, and failure to disclose liability waiver I needed to sign, to not be held responsible for any faulty, or damaged equipment they delivered .Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Rent a Center is quickly closing out complaints due to them persistently contacting me about owing them money , I do not owe rent a center anything for breach of contract, false advertising, overcharging on merchandise, and trying to make me pay for items they delivered that were faulty after claims ere submitted, and denied due to the fact they failed to disclose rent a center liability waiver, as they are supposed to do. they need issue me a refund , our contract was cancelled the day the delivered the item to me with electrical issues leading to a short circuited television. I am rejecting this response because: I am not responsible for any items by rent a center, and I will *** you guys if I have to for failing to disclose broken items, and I have nothing to do with third party merchandise your company gets from third parties that has nothing to do with me, and your business does not accept returned , or broken items, when I tried to , they refused to take them, and instructed me that it was my responsibility to take those items to e-waste recycling. So to sit up here and say why did I not return the items is a blatant spit in the face , if I have to hire a lawyer I will, I am not responsible for these items, even though your company has taken money from me for those items that were broken prior to being delivered at my house , I am requesting a full refund of the first cracked TV, and the send tv that short circuited. I refuse to talk to your franchisees due to mental frustration, and anger on my part, to keep me from saying something to them I might regret, the only thing they can do is send me a check for the payments on both of those tvs I have made, or I will ***.Business Response

09/01/2023 Rooms ToGo Agreement# FJH04161 Paid: $1,000 Remaining balance: $1,100 I purchased a living room set from Rooms Togo. The initial price of the set was $2100.00. I put down $1,000.00, which leaves a balance of $1100.00. I have made 3 payments of $320 thus far. My balance has not went down. I was told that I have another 12 months of payments to be made. This is PREADATORY LENDING. I was also told that there is no interest rate and that the extra money is going towards lending fees. Out of the payments that I have made, only a small amount is going towards the actual price of the furniture. I do belive that this is not right and this finance company is practicing PREDATORY LENDING!Business Response

I called the company a month ago to let them know that the residence they left a door hanger on is vacated by whom ever they are attempting to contact and return. I have received multiple phone calls they continuously go by the residence that I informed them was vacant. They called me to confirm that the people were still living there two weeks after I called it all them. The residence was vacated and they continuously come by and call The same residence the last conversation I had with an individual he told me they had every right to turn to collect the debt and then if I didnt want them to call or come by the home that I needed to then pay the debt I dont have any debt with him I dont have a contract with him. *** never dealt with him other than this matter, and I only call to let them know That the home was vacant and in return I have gotten nothing but harassment and continued contact every few days by this corporation Ill because an individual with whom I rented apparently allowed somebody to stay there that I had no idea about whos in apparently signed a contract with Rent-A-Center and then return on the one that gets to deal with the entire mess and I need them to quit calling me and I need them to stop harassing me before I end up taking legal action. This is just ridiculous. I have 10 door things they have left at the vacated residence. Along with multiple calls .Business Response
