Real Pages Active Building app my landlord requires tenants use for rent payments does NOT disclose it adds AFTER your credit card payment posts that it grabbed a $52 euphemistically named convenience feeotherwise known as a junk fee or fraud. Well remove it, says customer service, but then your payment will be canceled and youll have to pay a late fee.In fact, these cons add their $52 haul to all but one payment method and never disclose it unto its too late.

RealPage is a contracted third-party payment processer servicing the property management industry. RealPage offers credit card, ***, and other payment options to the apartment communities it contracts with. RealPage is required to adhere to the various card brand rules as well as the *** rules. On 7/1/24 the complainant initiated a payment using a **** card, which resulted in a fee of $52. All fees are clearly disclosed prior to the consumer clicking the proceed to confirmation page. The consumer can cancel the in-process transaction before it is submitted for payment, allowing them to select a different form of payment that *** have a lower fee.

zero stars for a business in this economy to claim "convenience" at the cost of an extra 50 dollars a month to make an electronic rent payment should be considered a scam, rent is already at an all time high not to mention living in ***** utilities are high and this business doesn't allow for any other lower cost option to paying your rent and the property managers who use only this business shame on you as well you have to know what the tenants are being charged. For a 12 month lease on rent ***** monthly that's 600 dollars more for the duration.

Our apartment told us we could make payments online. Nothing in our lease mentioned a processing fee of $27 or of the apartments association with RealPage with their product. Their site tracks you with their cookies and spams you with ads to win a TV if you pay your rent with their preferred payment method. We paid, a one time payment, over the phone with their Resident Direct option. We specifically choose the option to NOT save that card on file.Guess what they did? Saved the card on file and built it into the automatic payment plan [we never elected this]. We switched to paying a more controlled route to prevent scummy tactics. If you're a landlord looking to s**** your tenants over, then you find your unethical company.

This place On-Site is a scam, and took $120 from me in about 5 days. The apartments they are working with, scammed me out of another $450. They all knew they weren't going to approve me to begin with. My advice is don't go try to rent an apartment anywhere that uses On-Site. I'm honestly surprised they approve anyone (but do they).

Active Building app froze during payment then rerouted to a previously used bank account that was no longer active. Then tried charging me a 50 dollar fee because it couldn't find the bank account that it changed my payment to.

I am from this suburban area of ****** *****. I worked for Real as a young man. Great company. But it was sold I guess a few years back, and what it has become is sad. Their service is awful. My apartment complex recently started using them, and I am ready to move.I went from Rent at **** with water included to paying for water , being forced into a technology package I didnt want but would have to pay for rather receiving or not (some fine print when updating my lease) a billing charge for dropping my rent off at the office in money order form, and a FIFTY dollar admin fee for paying my rent their preferred way, online.Their webpage clearly states that they will increase a landlords profit by 5-7%.Its a great day for landlords because they arent lying

This company uses predatory methods to keep people from renting, they were redirected with facts and still maintain their report denying housing. These methods are unconstitutional and a violation of civil rights, and they will answer for the abuse in a court of law.

I live in a low income apt. When I was recertified in July I went on the Active Building site to find that I owed ****** in fees that had accrued from a late payment many months ago. This is the first that I knew of this. Also, they charged me 3.1% "convenience fee" to pay my rent thru the portal with a debit card. If you check the privacy policy you will find you have none. The apt complex turns over ALL of your personal data to the these guys. EVERYTHING. will not use this portal again and will send apt complex written demand to remove my personnel info from this service provider.
