Trusting USAA with my insurance needs was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. What was supposed to be a company that stood by veterans and their families ended up being a source of stress, hardship, and financial instability. I put my faith in USAA, believing they would have my back like I had this countrys. Instead, I was let down in a time when I needed them the ******* anyone considering USAA to protect your property, your livelihood, or your familyplease think twice. There are better options out there, and I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. No one deserves to go through what I went through, especially not those who have already given so much in service.I will continue to share my story because I dont want anyone else to fall victim the way I did. Learn from my experience. Protect yourselfand choose an insurer that truly honors its promises.

I had been with USAA for years, as a veteran. They had good prices and good benefits. However, all this went downhill. I had auto insurance with them for years, but when I filed a claim, they underpaid for my car replacement. I went with another insurance company because the prices were more reasonable and I received additional benefits. All of a sudden, they charged me an insurance premium to my USAA account over a year after I canceled my car and home insurance. This is not acceptable and I had to call customer service to resolve issue and they did not help me at all. I asked to speak to a manager, who also was unable to help me. So, no one could resolve this issue for a charge that should never have happened since I did not have auto insurance with them for over a year. For a company that is supposed to support veterans and their families, USAA does a very poor job of it.

I tried to call USAA Auto/Property Insurance on their 800 number about having my car towed to the dealership to replace the dead battery. After I called their number, I was required to enter my SSN and PIN before I could proceed. After that I was required to receive a text code that I also had to enter before I could reach their insurance folks. Their phone prompts still wouldnt put me through to an actual individual; instead forcing me to suffer through endless automated options that werent related to what I wanted to discuss. I had to go through this process no less than SEVEN times! Each time I would be cut off when the prompts wouldnt put me through to anyone; or someone would finally pick up (after about a 12-minute wait), but I would then be cut off again after less than 30 seconds. They refused to allow me to provide them with my callback number in case we got cut off, stating they werent allowed to make any outgoing calls! When I FINALLY reached a real live person, I was told I could have my vehicle towed under my auto insurance policy, but only to the nearest repair shop. If I wanted to have my vehicle towed to the dealership where I prefer to have repair work done (so I can have genuine GMAC parts installed, etc.), I would have to pay an additional fee, even though the distance between my house and the dealership is only 3.8 miles! They said if I wanted to discuss the matter further, I could call their towing contractor, ***** at a specific 800 number where a real live person would answer. I called that number and there was no live person to speak with. Instead, I again had to struggle through phone prompts and was forced to schedule a towing appointment through a text/app sent to my cell phone. I finally gave up and cancelled my USAA Roadside Assistance. By the way, AAA will tow your vehicle under their Roadside Assistance policy free of charge for up to 100 miles, and take your vehicle to ANY repair shop you want with no additional charges.

Mailed a check to pay off a loan (June 27th). After not seeing the payoff posted, I called. They inform me that it takes them 7-10 business days to receive the check (soonest 7/11) and then another 5 business days to post the check (7/21). Meaning that almost a month after a payoff check was mailed, they post it to the account. In the meantime, they are charging me daily interest on something that they probably received within 3-5 business days after it was mailed! Worst company ever. I don't know how they think that is legal! Receive payment but hold it for weeks. Will see how long this takes.

I found out my account was restricted because my monthly payments did not go through. This is the only bank account , all my funds go directly to this bank. Now, Im being told my account is frozen and I cannot touch any funds. I have called multiple times to just closed my account so I can get my funds transferred to another bank account but they said I will be receiving a check in the mail in 60 with everything I have in there. So for the mean time I am left without any money to make any of my payments. I only have $20 in cash, like I said all my funds go to the bank!!!! What do they expect me to do? Tell my payments to hold on for 60 days? The best option a representative had was, you may want to take out a loan and change your direct deposit. Anyone on here with advice?

I have been depositing checks without the endorsement for 4 years. I have a check that needs to be deposited and they put on hold for a week. Now my account is going to be overdrawn. USAA is not for military members any more. I am convinced they hate service members and love money. Car insurance isnt worth it anymore and customer service is some of the worst in the industry. I have been with them for 15 years. This is a sad review to write.

We have home owners as well as auto insurance through USAA. We've been with them for 16 yrs. We are paying $4,100 every 6 months for 3 vehicles with no explanation or reason. This is insane. We are def shopping for a better rate. This is robbing from service members. Stay clear of this now privatized company.

Ive been a USAA member for 35 years. And I will be leaving because its cheap insurance and like most cheap things they dont work when you need them to. They gave me a valuation on my car six thousand dollars below book, coerced me into accepting their offer by threatening not to pay storage fees. They arent worth it. Theres a reason theyve been investigated and fined.
