      If it were possible I would rate Life Storage( now Extra Space) a zero. I travel for my job and I had to search for a reasonable rate on a storage unit. I found a rate of $159 for a 10x10 which is not cheap but doable. I received a message that Extra Space purchased this company. I was not alarmed because I had rented from Extra Space years ago and they were great. I went on line to pay my bill and my rate was increased by $65. This is not acceptable. I rented a unit at the ****** location and in 2 years the rate never went up more than $10 dollars. This is a time of economic distress for a lot of people and the resources for this type of increase simply don't exsist. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB please don't fall into this trap.

      I'm a healthcare provider, & stored my things with Extra Space Storage in ** during the ******19 pandemic. I live in NM, but I stored my items where my family could get to them, in case something happened to me. I returned to ** in June of 2023 to move out of the unit, & discovered the entire contents of my storage unit flooded, & covered in rodent ************** I was told that their facility was damaged by Hurricane ***, & a rodent infestation from a construction project in the adjacent building that my unit shared a wall with. Rodent droppings carry *********** **** is both hazardous & dangerous to disturb/cause the virus to become aerosolized. The local mgr ***** still insisted that I either sign over all of my storage contents to them, or come back into the unit to get items that I want, & leave the rest. He insisted that I return to ** in eight weeks, & vacate the unit. I requested a refund of the months that I continued to pay after they were aware that their facility was flooded & rodent infested from a construction project; & that they bring in a professional company to move all of the contents into open air in the parking lot, since I was not notified in a timely manner to recoup my losses through FEMA. I reported the facility to the local health *********** ****** were made to contract with a new pest control vendor. Customers whose units were impacted by Hurricane *** should've received an email to file for federal compensatory damages through FEMA. I never received an email. The mgr stated it was erased from their servers. Without ever seeing the damages, the asst DM in Chatham, **, ***** ***** ***** then directed me to vacate the unit in 14 days, without regard for the dangers of Hantavirus becoming airborne inside the 10' x 23' unit. On September 7th, they foreclosed on the unit, and placed it under a lien. I called the corporate hotline on 9/18/23, the reps said they "won't escalate this matter." And, they are now demanding I pay them more $.

      They more than doubled the rent after only one year. Sure the original price was promotional, which expired after only 3 months. What they are trying to raise it to now is even higher than the "regular" price. They are complete scam artists and there is no accountability.

      Mice and rat infested unit was advertised as safe and clean. The Italian leather living room set, ****** and ****** bedding and all linens were destroyed. Annual increases the last 2 years were 18% & 15%.

      My **************** experience was great but overall they just took my money without honoring my contract or notifying me of any changes to it. My April bill went from 124$ to 144 buy **** and from 144$ to 186$ by August.I was not sent and letter of notification at all.. I pay automatically and just get a notification of once my card is debited.Its just bad business. I quickly got my Storage removed before Im ripped off again.

      Rat pee and poo caused us to throw away thousands of dollars of furniture and wedding gifts along with other sentimental belongings. We paid for insurance prior to but have received absolutely no help. Only transfer after transfer no one could help us no matter who we called. We are going to take this to the news and continue to find ways to warn the public about the disgusting lack of care as well as customer care. If we do no receive an acceptance of our claim we will be suing immediately. TERRIBLE COMPANY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TERRIBLE NEGLECTED UNITS

      Just now learned that my storage rent has jumped from $65/mth to $94/mth. This is quite a hike, not to mention I received zero notice on this inflated increase so I don't really have much choice but to pay. I will however be removing my items from Storage Express as this is poor taste in business practice. It's a shame a company would do this in our current economic climate (crisis).

      This whole place and Extra Space Storage is a scam. I rented a storage unit at the location of *****************************************************************. At first, they tried to charge me a late fee because they didn't have my credit card information since this storage space was originally owned by Smart Cube. Before I moved out, I was informed that I would not have to pay for the storage fees for the entire month if I moved out at the beginning of that month and I would only have to pay a percentage for that month. Right after I cleared my unit and requested move-out at the beginning of September, I called them again and they tried to charge me for the whole month and would not proceed with my move-out confirmation. store your stuff elsewhere.

      In a year's time, my rent has gone up 89%. Yes, they have notified me, but this is insane. They do not offer annual leases, either, so they can keep up these practices. I'm going to contact my state's consumer protection and my state representatives to see if these practices can be limited.I'm also wondering why they would need to raise my rent 89% when the same unit is being advertised online for less than what I leased it for when I signed up last year? The office turnover rate is high and they've made no improvements to the building, so I'm guessing it has to do with their share price falling.
