f I faced and the company's not-so-cool behavior. From joining on June 20, 2023, till they pulled the plug on August 11, 2023, my time there was filled with a lack of professionalism, poor management, and zero care for our safety and well-being.Okay, so they told me I'd mostly be at the Wooster Pike spot, but guess what? I ended up ping-ponging to different spots daily. Not what I signed up for, totally not chill. ??Safety? Not their strong suit. On July 31, 2023, I had insulation raining down at ******** Avenue. Asked for a mask and got shrugged off by *****, the manager. Like, hello, worker safety? Apparently, not a priority. So, I took action and reported this hazard to OSHA. Instead of fixing it, they brushed me off ********************* was like, "Keep it in the fam." How about no? That's not how you handle safety concerns.Transparency? Nope, not in their dictionary. They flipped my home store location without even checking with me. Less money for mileage, thanks a lot. When I spoke up to *************************, they sorta kinda addressed it, but it still felt like they weren't owning up to their mess-***.Worse part? ********** Road. A manager going off on me, super not cool. Lunchtime stress? Nah, I'm good.Tried to raise a flag about all this zero response from management. Sent emails to higher-*** and Diversity Counselor *****************************, but it was like talking to a brick wall. And then the grand finale on August 11, 2023 ************************* pulling the plug outta nowhere. Reason? They said my background check showed something sketchy. Seriously? They knew my history from day one, come on now. Smells like retaliation for caring about safety and flagging issues with OSHA.Summing up my time at Extra Space Storage was a rollercoaster of disappointment. They didn't care about our safety, messed up basic procedures, and offered zero support. Seriously, if you're thinking about joining, think again. It's a wild ride you might wanna skip.

I sent this to the location on ******************* in *********** twice with zero response:'I've only been renting my current storage unit since 1/17/23. After only 6 months, my rent was raised 32% in July!! How is this acceptable to treat your customers? It went from $106 to $140 monthly. It's an outrageous increase. Please rectify this.'They could care less and it shows by them not responding. Profits should matter but this is a cruel and heartless business practice to price hike so drastically. It's just horrible to take advantage of customers like this.

I pre-paid for a year to avoid a rate increase. When I scheduled my move out the told me they can only refund full months so I am stuck paying for 3 weeks after I leave. They can rent that space and be collecting twice !! That is very dishonest.

Walked in to the office in ********** asked questions paid a bill and then asked how to get out of a contract with them. The "manager" at least claims to be gave me false information as I had 2 spaces. I asked about the larger space and when the next time I would be charged is. He/She told me it would be the 8th of August and if I move out by the 7th I have until the 28th for the smaller unit. I proceeded then to move everything out of the larger space and felt relief for being helped. On the 8th of August and 9th of August I received phone calls saying my payment did not go through. I then called on the 12th of August and asked what was going on. Same lady/man spoke with me admitted they messed up then told me no matter what I owe money, wrong. The proceeded to tell me I will get a late fee, THEN when this infuriated me as it would ANY person, she/he said you have no proof and I never said that. I then mentioned how clearly my proof is not only what was said in person to me but ALSO the fact they just lied AGAIN over the phone, first admitting then taking it back. I will now be getting corporate involved because this ****/Faith/man/woman will not let me access my account and is trying to get extra money with a late fee for THEY'RE OWN MISTAKE! Never EVER store your items with this company even if it is for 2 month. I would give ZERO stars if possible.

Extra space storage franchise. **** ********., *****, **. Does not honor web advertisement. They choose to log that you have signed your lease in store. Instead of on the web.I had 11 units. Excellent customer.. highly successful business woman can see between the lines that $111 was going somewhere but most definitely not in my benefit.I called Headquarters talk to ******* about ******, who runs that particular franchise. Someone is to be coming in contact with me in the next 48 hours.Since Im great friends, with consumer protection I will report this regardless. The extra space storage facility in ****** honored the web advertisement. Each franchise differs do your research when you go to store your personal belongings with extra space storage. Fraud is a very lofty accusation, but the numbers speak what they do. I have proof through emails and texts that I signed up using the web. Not in store. Dishonesty stinks been stole from specially after going through Covid. Worst business ethics ever. If nothing comes my way to benefit me. Stay away from **** ********., *****, ** extra space storage franchise.

Deceptive business practices are used by Extra Space Storage. I rented a covered outdoor storage space for my vehicle at their *********-************************ location in ******. No mention was made of the $60/month rate being promotional. Three months later they supposedly sent a notice of rate increase to $120/month. I did not receive this notice. When I contacted the manager of the facility he said I should take it up with the post office. I asked why they dont use communication with verifiable receipt method like a tracking number or signature required and he said thats not their practice. Same response to my query regarding notification by email text or phone call. On the sixth page of the contract their is mention of the initial rate being promotional, but there is no mention of a doubling of that rate three months later. The site manager was uncompromising and unwilling to acknowledge deficiencies in the rate increase notification procedure. I plan to give 30 days notice, vacate the facility, and not use this company ever again. I advise others to do the same.Unhappy customer ********* **

Longtime customer here. My ********************** unit rental went from $98 to $178 without notice or consent. I am 65 and living on a very fixed income. There is no loyalty or appreciation for their customers. And now I have to find another place and move everything by myself so I can get my prorated refund as soon as possible to pay for the new place which, by the way, is the same size unit for $106. Seriously, shame on these ghouls. Im urging everybody to take their business elsewhere. The disruption to my life at this particular moment and the stress it has caused is unforgivable.

I rented a storage space with ExtraSpace Storage at ******************** ******* **********. The monthly rate was $286/month. At the one-year ***** I received a notice in the mail that reads: "Thanks for choosing extra space storage to keep your belongings, safe! As a month to month rental provider, our rates are reviewed and adjusted depending on current market conditions. As a result, we are writing to let you know that effective 06/25/2023, your monthly rate for unit number eight will increase to $386.00.""In case you choose to move out of your unit, please submit 10 days notice to your store manager and fully empty your space."This is a 35% increase in one year. Before I called to discuss the increase, I checked the rates for the specific facility in *******, and they are offering 8 x 10 Units, the same size as mine, for $171.00/ per month. When I spoke with the manager of the location and told her that I had checked the rates and that they had actually decreased from the previous year, she told me that those were "introductory rates, and we will raise them after the first year."I responded that the website does not state that these are introductory rates. The manager's reply was, "of course not, we're not going to say that," essentially admitting that it is their practice to lure customers in with attractive pricing and then spring an enormous increase after the first year, as happened to me.Contrary to the notice I received from the company, my rate increase was not the result of a review of the market, it was pre-planned as a deceptive trade practice, as the manager admitted to me on the phone. It bears no relationship to market rates, as the advertised price for the same size unit, at the same location is LESS than the rate I agreed to a year ago. This company is lying and taking advantage of people.

Beware of Life Storage's Unfair Rate Hikes and Lack of Transparency

I recently had a disappointing experience with Life Storage and feel compelled to share my thoughts to warn potential renters. Initially, my experience with them was satisfactory (great rate, clean facility, easy access) however, a few months into renting a storage unit, they abruptly and significantly raised my rates.

When I inquired about the rate increase, I was shocked to discover that Life Storage has the contractual ability to raise rates at any time, leaving me with a mere 30-day notice to vacate if I disagreed. This policy seemed unfair and inflexible, demonstrating a lack of consideration for their customers.

To make matters worse, their response to my complaint about the rate hike was disingenuous and unconvincing. They cited "market conditions" and an algorithm as the basis for the increase, but failed to provide any meaningful explanation or transparency regarding these factors. It left me feeling deceived and undervalued as a customer.

I understand that businesses may need to adjust prices due to changing circumstances, but the lack of clarity and the suddenness of the rate increase from Life Storage were disheartening…especially after just a few months. It's crucial for potential renters to be aware of these practices before choosing this storage provider.

In summary, I urge prospective renters to be cautious when considering Life Storage. The unscrupulous rate hikes and their inadequate response to customer concerns are clear indicators of their lack of commitment to transparency and fair treatment. Explore other storage options that prioritize honest and customer-centric practices.
