No stars from me. I have been trying to cancel the service for at least 4 years. Each time I call, they tell me it's too soon and give me a time frame. I call during that time and am told I am too late and my contract is extended for another two years. I am presently trying to get released from a contract that doesn't expire until late 2027. They keep saying that I signed something but I haven't. I finally found out the other day that they use some sort of DocuSign , saying it is a valid signature. Bu I have never been notified of any renewals. I have instructed my bank to not send them another *****. I have been told that I have 4 or 5 months before my account is turned over to a collection agency. I have consulted my lawyer and she says that there is not much she can do. So I am composing a letter that will go via registered mail to the head of the company. I am on a fixed income and $81 is a big chunk . In my mind, I am a victim of deceptive trade practices. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Equipment didnt last 6 months, customer service was unbelievably bad. The employees knew how to answer each and every issue you have with a smarta** answer but no intention to help.I was double billed for 14 months and never was made right even though i have screenshots of the conversation where they admitted fault and promised refunds. Very poor billing practices too, money never comes out the same time of month. Nothing was even average about this company, Should have never used a friend on something like this, he lasted with company around 6 months and told me how some employees were even arrested for their pushy sales tactics.

The day we agreed to sign up we were told by 2 salesman “this contract is for 24 months.” In time, we figured out we were lied to, it is a 5 year contract. We paid the remaining 3 years. Customer service is so poor, no managers are ever available, and their answer is always “it’s in the contract you signed”. No help, no customer consideration. We were told to write a cancellation letter when we called to cancel over the phone. When we did, they said 45 days before was not sufficient enough it needed to be 60 days before end of contract. They locked us in another term. This is by far a horrible company to work with. They are misleading and then do not care when they have you locked in a contract that is impossible to cancel. I would never recommend them to anyone. I am trying to warn others of this scam of a company. Please save your money and time and look into other security companies, you will be glad you did.

      Hello *****,

After looking at your account I see the following email correspondence with out ************* support. We then sent a followup email on 10/25/23 the need to call into our Technical Support team. Have you been able to call them back to determine what credits and options you have? We would very much want to correct and errors that have occurred with your system.

07/06/2023 10:40 AM Email: Good morning *****, The account cancellation is not until April 30, **** (next year) when the current contract term ends. A representative reached out to you today to offer additional credits and to make arrangements to fix your system. That offer still stands and we'd be happy to continue along that path if you're willing to allow a technician to come back to service. Otherwise, the cancellation (and billing) will continue as previously scheduled. If you want to get this equipment working we will coordinate with our service ***** ASAP on your behalf and we are fully willing to expand the downtime credits as stated to account for your inconvenience. Very Respectfully, -NorthStar Account Management

Zero stars would be a better rating! HORRIBLE, tried to stop service and was told I didnt submit a request 60-days before my five year anniversary. And Im not doing so they have the right to automatically extend the contract 18 months. I had no copy of such contract.. they sent an e-copy with no wet ink signatures. Do not, I repeat do not do business with this company.

DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT! Horrible service. Half the time the devices would trip or reset on their own. I had the 5 year contract and only used for about 2 years before it because useless junk to me. After my 5 year contract was up I submitted a request for cancellation and they RENEWED me for another 6 month contract. I tried calling several times to stop the service and I was met with the same oh well- you signed up for it! attitude when no- I didnt sign up for another 6 months- I cancelled after I knew my 5 year contract was up. There was no resolution- they only wanted to continue to take my money and then renew my contract after my request to cancel to take more. For the first time in my life I will have a charged off balance due to this companies devious and misleading practices. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT SIGN THE DOTTED LINE.

I have had a different Alarm System for the past several years, but am still being billed (ACH Debit) $55.00 per month by NorthStar Alarm Services. I called them today to cancel the service, and was told that I have had a contract with them, which automatically renews each December! I received no advance notification of the automatic renewals, and I am now told that I cannot cancel prior to the expiration of the current contract, which is in June, ****! I inquired as to how they were monitoring a system that no longer existed for this many years. I was told to contact my current alarm company (Vivint) and have them pay the remaining balance of the current contract. I haven't had the NorthStar equipment for probably 3-5 years! This is ridiculous! Highway Robbery!

Zero stars. We communicated with NorthStar in 2018 and we fully understood that we had a 5 year contract - even though we only lived in the house for 2 years because we had to move in 2020. When we discussed this with them, we understood that we still had to pay the remainder of the contract. We were NOT made aware of the "automatic renewal" they had, nor were we aware of the written notice they required. We even asked in 2020 and they said it would run out. So when we called to ask why we were still being charged the response was that our contract - which they have not provided - stated we autorenewed because we didn't cancel on time. There was no communication from them about this and no follow up. This company is horrific and no one should ever sign with them.

Our story with NorthStar is that we have been with North Star Alarm for approximately 5 years. They were going through the neighborhood and I was outside working. My brother was out of town then, and I wanted to talk it over with him. They urged me to get the system right then and there. They installed the service. They did not install it properly. Another company came by the house the same way and I knew both companies were from ****. I got both companies mixed up. The other company installed their system. North Star did not have a field representative in our area and we were told to wait (six months) until a field representative was in place. So, we went with the other company. We have had no service even an upgrade for 3 years. I was told to send a note via E-Mail in order to terminate the service. This was in February. We now owe the Company $240 for service that we do not have.

They have been fraudulently billing ** for over three years. We have sent them documentation MULTIPLE times to prove that we no longer rent the house with that alarm, but we keep getting billed every month. They are criminals.
