      Do not do business with this company. They turned over my account to collections when they did not install the system about a year and a half ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try to get out of a contract with them is possible but be ready to pay anywhere from ****** to ******* from the reviews that I have read. Stay away from them it will make your life more secure as wait they are in the "security" business." I did not make the connection...till now.

      NorthStar Alarm is to be avoided at all costs; I didn't choose them, but they came with a home I purchased.I paid off their (often malfunctioning) equipment and was shocked when they told me to stop contacting them, they had sold my account to ADT. At that point I was stuck with a bunch of hard-wired, useless equipment and ADT was clamoring to sell me something new (and have continued to charge me NorthStar's fees, despite not rendering any sort of service).It's a scam, to put it lightly. I would go with literally any other vendor besides NorthStar or ADT -- SimpliSafe has been treating me fantastically.

      I had North Star Alarm for 5 1/2 years and called them on February 14, 2022 to cancel the contract. I went with another company and the equipment was removed on 2/14/2022. I knew there would be an early termination fee and they told me what it would be and for them to cancel I would have to send in a cancellation notice with name, address, reason for cancellation and signature. I typed this out and put the check inside of the letter and mailed it.The check was deposited in their account within the week. I thought this was the end of it. On 9/13/2022 they drafted my account for $26.50 without any notice. I called them and was told that they had received the check but because I didn't send a cancellation notice the account was still active. How could they not have seen the cancellation notice as the check was inside of it? I was told to send another cancel notice which I did, a copy of the original notice sent. On 10/12022 they again drafted my account in the amount of $37.86. Again I called asking why and was told they didn't receive the notice and the account was still active. I was given an email to send another cancellation notice which I did on 10/12/2022. I received an email from them stating that the had received it and they would review it and get back to me. I haven't heard anything. Also on 10/12/2022 I received an email saying they had been trying to contact me about my alarm that there was suspicious activity going on. ??? Again, this system was removed on 2/14/2022. I would like to have my money refunded that they drafted out and this account permanently closed.

      ************** signed up with Northstar on August 8, 2022. My neighbor sat with the salesman, **** to make sure I got all the details and would not be confused about anything. On Aug. 9th, I called Northstar and canceled the services that had not completely been installed because I was not satisfied. I also called **** and my neighbor. **** and Northstar stated they would schedule the removal of their equipment numerous times! I was also told that my equipment would be put back! On September 17th the Northstar serviceman, ****** showed up and removed their equipment from my home, leaving holes in my walls, I was unable to control my AC because ****** cut AC wires in my attic, and he refused to put the lock back on my door! Because I'm elderly, my neighbors tried to get ****** to comply and at least put the lock on my door! I only wanted the Northstar serviceman to not leave me defenseless and in a hot house with no way to control my AC. My neighbors put my lock back on the door so that I could lock it, thank God! I had to wait until Sunday to hire a serviceman to work on the *** purchase new AC controls, pay the cost to repair my *** and for installation of the controls! I want Consumers to know how awful this company treated me, an elderly woman! This company deserves a zero star!!!

      If I could give this company ZERO stars I would, I purchased my home back in 2019. Purchased the contract from the previous owner and was told I had until 2022. I was very behind the last few months before my contract was supposed to end so I called them and explained my situation, I paid for what I was behind on and I was told that I had until the end of the month to cancel because it would be within that 60 day cancellation period. I sent them my cancellation notice at least 4 or 5 times. I sent it to 3 different emails that were given to me. I spoke with a super helpful lady that told me she would make sure I wouldn't get charged and that I wouldn't have any issues. I never spoke to her again, now I am constantly getting harassed about a past due amount and they are telling me that I will be sent to collections if not paid. I will never recommend this company to anyone, stay away from them. The male that has been reaching out is the rudest person I have spoke with. I worked in collections before and I would never speak to people that way. 0/10

      Seems like everyone has the same story about the 60 day cancelation in writing. I wrote mine as well and they didn't get it by the 60 day **** so I was automatically renewed. Service stinks and not happy. *****************

      I wish I could give no stars. Everything started off fine until it was close to our contract ending. It was like it was not working to get us to sign again with this company. My door **** has not worked in over 8 months. I have told them and every time I was asked about my contract. They told me if I signed with them again I would get a new door bell, camera ect. Months before my contract was over I told them that I will not be renewing again. They still tried to make me stay. I have called and emailed them. This year one of the employees I spoke with laughed at me on the phone. If the calls are record they should see how badly I was treated. I have emailed them and no one responds about canceling my accounts. I got a letter saying my account was behind but not an email regarding the bad treated from their employees and canceling my account. What I was told is that they no the situation but I need to make my cancellation payment. It is the same thing over and over. We paid them faithfully since 2017 and we have been treat very poorly. They are saying we owe them but I still have yet to be reimburse for my door bell not working and for service we have paid for that was not working properly. This company really needs to be closed down. It is so sad that they treat people this way.

      I had their services for several years, and when my contract was up I called to cancel (May 2021). They told me I had to handwrite a letter and mail it in, and that it could take up to 60 days to cancel. I sent the letter the next day, but after 4 more payments came out- but I called and they said they never received and to send again. I did, but they kept taking the payments. I tried calling several times but their message says "due to ATT shutting down something- wait times are longer," and I'm on hold forever and can't get through. I finally got ahold of someone after waiting for over and hour when I was moving in June 2022. They said "because they didn't receive my letter - it automatically extends my contract another 18 months." I explained the situation about them not receiving my letter and the lady THEN tells me I can email it. I did, but they still won't cancel. I finally called my bank and told them not to allow anymore withdraws from Northstar. Now they keep calling and sent an email saying they will send me to collections if I don't pay the remaining 6 months. The system is more than paid for and they show all my calls in the system. I don't even live at the address anymore. This is the WORST company to deal with.

      My parents canceled their membership about 5 years ago over the phone. They are senior citizens and live on a fixed income. NorthStar has continued too automatically withdraw money out of there account and just recently told my mom she needs to write a letter to cancel their membership. My parents have not used NorthStar alarm for 5 years but they continue to take money from them. NorthStar should have told my parents to write a letter to cancel 5 years ago instead of taking money out of there account especially since they are not using their services. **************** was rude. ********************** takes advantage of senior citizens and is horrible company for doing so.

      We bought the house with already installed equipment. We purchased the contract from the previous owner and received a maintenance visit to adjust the system. After 2 months false alarms were my daily problems. The call from the Northstar operator or lasted for 2 seconds or never even went through. I communicated various times to report the problem. I was invited to reboot the system, to double-check if the equipment was properly connected. I asked for their technician to come and check it; however, the response was that it is not part of the service, and if I want to improve the equipment, I can extend the contract for 3 years, and I will get a new set of an upgraded and working alarm. So, now I am simply giving my money to these scammers without receiving any service back because I do not want to prolong the contract.
