1 starMountain West Anesthesia continues sending out late payment notices after payments have been made. If a bill is accidentally paid a second time because of this they will postpone reimbursement of the duplicate payment for 2 to 3 months.Review fromElizabeth L

I had a procedure done 1/08/24 which my insurance covered minus about $200 which I paid at the time of procedure. I received a bill from Mountain West in May for $44.43 which I paid. Then another bill came in September for $9.57, which I paid, and then a few days later I received a new bill for $9.63. So 10 months later I am being charged multiple different amounts even though my insurance should have covered this months ago. I just don't understand how I can just be charged random amounts and random times... it is beginning to feel very scammy.Mountain West Anesthesia

Yes, medical bills can be confusing, we are so sorry about having to rebill. Your insurance paid back in March but underpaid in error. They finally processed correctly and paid more in September. You should have received an updated explanation from them showing that your copay went from $44.43 to $54.00. Feel free to reach out to them if you have further questions. Thank you.Review fromLaryssa C

I did a procedure and paid $41, but they keep sending me bills. I try to call the cellphone, but it doesn't work, or someone from ***** gets me calls, and I can talk with them because the number doesn't work. So terrible.Mountain West Anesthesia

Sorry about the confusion. Your insurance paid back in March but underpaid in error. They finally processed correctly and paid more in September (which made your copay go from $41.47 to $50.40 so there is an additional $8.93 due by you). You may double check your claim information with your insurance by contacting them or reviewing your explanation of payment from them on 9/13/2024. Thank youReview fromPamela A

Mountain West Anesthesia is BEYOND horrible to deal with! After getting some issues resolved with my insurance company, not getting claims processed correctly, the claims were all taken care of, and paid. Today I get a text from *** that I have a statement due. I pull up the statement from *** and it shows the full amount owing again. BUT, on 8/8/24 they SHOW the payment/adjustment from my insurance company and then they add back in the full charge again! I contacted my insurance to verify that they did pay on this claim. My insurance contacted ***, while I was on hold, and MWA "claims" they never received the ***. Weird! That's the second time I've heard that excuse from them. Even weirder, how did you know what amount was paid on the claim, if you didn't receive the *** as you claim?!?!? You show the paid amount on your statement!! AND then, on the same day that you recorded receiving the payment, 8/8/24, you add back in the original charge!? Your company is doing nothing but trying to scam people. I'm sure a lot of us would love to let the local news stations look into this.Mountain West Anesthesia

We are so sorry about your experience with our billing office. We have suspended statements on your account and will check into the payment and denials received from your insurance to see if we can figure out what happened and get back to you ASAP. Thank youMountain West Anesthesia
Date: 09/30/2024
Billing has correctedthis account:The original denial was from your insurance asking for other/primary insurance explanation of benefits that they indicated was missing. When the insurance reprocessed and paid, there was a reversal of their original denial which shows a -594.00. The denial amount shouldn't have been put on the account since there was a new payment and the negative amount was just the insurance reversing their decision. Account now has a zero balance.Thank you for pointing out this mistake and making us aware of your frustration with the billing process.Review fromDiana J

Anesthesiologist gets 10 stars - She was amazing during a very difficult time. The billing is ridiculous. Eight calls trying to get escalated billing with a Native English speaker so I could update my insurance. I was getting letters threatening collections - and yet they would not return my calls so I could resolve this situation. Of COURSE we want our anesthesiologist paid! She was amazing! And yet, wherever I called, to ********* or the *********** or wherever Mt. West outsources to save a buck, I could not get my information through without explaining and re-explaining. No escalated billing. I would rather pay out of pocket up to $100 JUST to speak to a Native English speaker who is competent and will help me - and I don't mean deferred to ******** or other insurance - I mean out of my own pocket. I spent several hours on this over several weeks just trying to reach someone in the **. I emailed. I called. I left some messages. I was polite. Unconscionable and ridiculous. Really disrespectful.Mountain West Anesthesia

We are so sorry for the frustration you are having and do appreciate your input and perspective. Please be assured that there has been much going on behind the scenes to ensure your insurance claims are processed appropriately. Please know that everyone you have spoken with has been trying to help.Medical billing is a complex process and unfortunately you are stuck in the middle of it. There are thousands of different insurance policies as well as government programs like ******** and ********* Understanding all the different coverage criteria, reimbursement rates, as well as denials and appeals is not an easy process. We do recognize that effective communication skills are another layer of complexity in the challenges our billing office faces. We continue to work with them to improve in staffing people who can explain medical bills, and address inquiries better. Thank you.Review fromLinda A

There has been two additional payments withdrawn for my banking acct. I have requested that two be refunded to me ASAP. My banking account is now over drawn.Mountain West Anesthesia

You visited the patient payment portal multiple times on 07/01/2024-trying to pay with 2 different credit cards both of which declined. Then a payment was made by ACH check. It then shows another portal visit the same day trying one of the credit cards again, but it still declined, and then another ACH check payment was processed by you. These payments were done by you as no one has spoken with you on the phone to run a payment. So sorry, but since this was not an issue created on this end, refund requests are between you and your bank.Review fromConfused P

I am very concerned why they are sending bills at all. I had a procedure done at IHC and was charged for anesthesia services at the hospital. Now I am getting a bill from this company, they didn't charge my insurance properly (or wait for the claim to go through) and sent me a bill for $800. I have been trying to get in touch with someone and receiving now response. I think if they were actually working with IHC then they would be more then capable of properly submitting insurance claims without charging the patient needlessly.Mountain West Anesthesia

My husband had surgery and had been on a payment plan since July 2023. One balance shows $397.07 owed and payment plan balance shows $472.36 as of May 30th. Auto pay came out on May 26th for $44.12. We decided to pay off what the balance was showing on May 30, 2024. I called and talked to ******* and he said it could take up to 7-10 business days to post the change to the balance. This does not make sense since the payments have cleared our bank and it even shows the receipts on his account. Also, the balance as of June 1st shows $428.24. This reflects the auto payment but not our payments of $200.00 (May 29th) and $272.36 (May 30th), so $472.36. The statement sent shows 5/31. They definitely owe us money. I would think the balance should have been $397.07 since we paid the balance before the 9 other payments would have reflected a finance charge which we paid the balance early. So we would think we would only owe $397.07 if paid off and and not $428.24, so should owe us $75.29? Either way, if it is $428.24, they would still owe us $44.12. Very frustrating that balance doesn't change when clearing the bank and showing a receipt. Their billing department needs some work. 7- 10 days to update payment to balance is terrible.Mountain West Anesthesia

I had a colonoscopy in March of 2024. The procedure was covered by Medicare. In May I started to receive texts and phone calls stating that I had a bill outstanding from Mountain West Anesthesia. They told me that Medicare had denied the anesthesia portion even though both Medicare and my secondary insurance had approved it. I called Medicare and they informed me that it was a coding error and even explained the problem with the coding on the part of Mountain West Anesthesia. Medicare and my secondary insurance again confirmed to me that the procedure is covered. I then called Mountain West Anesthesia to inform them of the issue. My phone call was disconnected several times. It took several hours to finally get through to them. After four phone calls, a person eventually told me that they would try to correct the coding issue and resubmit the charges to Medicare and that it would take 30 to 45 days to resolve it. They told me that I would not receive any additional requests for payment until it was resolved with Medicare and my secondary insurance provider. But after 30 to 45 days if it is not resolved, I will be responsible for the entire bill despite Mountain West Anesthesia being the cause of this entire problem. The next day, I received a phone call from Mountain West Anesthesia asking me for full payment. I even called the billing department at the hospital to see if they could do anything since they have a contract with Mountain West Anesthesia. They were very good to try to help intervene but ultimately people should be wary of using this medical group based on my experience to this point.Mountain West Anesthesia

So sorry, your experience with our customer service department was not helpful. Please be assured that things are going on behind the scenes regarding reviewing your claim to verify coding of the procedure performed and resubmittal to ********* To help with unintentional statements or phone calls, we have but a hold on your account so that you are not bothered while ******** and secondary insurance reprocess the claim. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and stress this may have caused you and we appreciate the opportunity to provide care.Review fromCharlotte F

I had surgery in July 2023. The first bill I received from Mountain West Anesthesia came late February 2024. I was confused about the bill. I called and spoke with Kris on Feb 26, she told me that they had resubmitted it Feb 12 to my insurance and so I did not need to pay this yet. When I asked how long- she said 45 days. The beginning of March i got another invoice. I called on March 8 because they had marked my account overdue and that call should with Kris again she told me not to pay. She reassured me that after they heard back from my insurance they would send me a new bill. Today, April 1, 2024 I got a text telling me I had until May 30, 2024 to pay or I would be sent to collections. I called and spent 20 minutes on hold. When I finally got to talk to an agent, James, I explained that I would not be able to pay in full right now and asked if I could be put on a payment plan. He said yes - 10% due and then 10% every month. I asked if I would be changed interest or fees. He said no. I did the math and the amount he told me was not 10% I asked him why the numbers were different. He said I owed more because I was in default and was charged a fee for not paying in March. At this point he couldn't help me- I requested to speak to a supervisor- I was sent to Joe. Joe put me on a significant hold and when he came back, told me the sane thing James had said when I first called. Like he hadn't even heard what the actual problem was. I wanted to pay the payment plan, but not the fees - since the agent, Kris, in February and March told me not to pay yet. He said he could refute the charge but only once. I asked if i was going to be charged each month a finance fee. He said yes. I informed him that James had assured me there was no fee added for the payment plan. This billing company is unacceptable. Their agents o not give proper information to the customer and company itself is inefficient.Mountain West Anesthesia

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to provide your anesthesia services. We are so sorry for any confusion. We do understand the complexity of medical bills can be overwhelming. We can adjust off the $4.70 finance charge that was added as there was some delay in our billing office trying to clear up the amount approved by ************. It looks like $712.08 is the amount ************ has applied towards your deductible and lists as your responsibility to pay so that will be the updated balance due. If you feel there is any further misunderstanding, please reach out to us at ***************************************
