I have a leased VW ID.4 2024. Since my deer accident of 12/12/2024, the car had been in the shop waiting for parts. Specifically for the fuse and electrical box 5WA937125D thats on backorder with no ETA. Its been 3 months and multiple dozens of phone call across America and ****** to try to track this part down but theres no new or used parts available. I was told it could be months and years until one comes by. Without this integral part, the car is inoperable while I am paying for the lease payment and also renting a car. Theres no visible end to this road and ** even called it intergalactic back order with no eta. I had inquired about terminating the lease and switching to a new ** but neither dealership or VW America have agreed to do it or offer me any resolution other than instructing me to wait on this part that may never arrive. I just want to be out of this lease of an inoperable car now and stop paying the monthly leaseInitial Complaint

Upon Purchase of vehicle a factory issue water leak was identified and flooded the inside of the vehicle and was repaired by Onion Creek Volkswagen. After the initial incident, the car has suffered electrical issues including but not limited to:- key unpairing with vehicle (2 times) - both times replaced in service. Cost out of pocket and a Tow. - glitches in the electrical dashboard At under 65k miles vehicle Battery cell system failed and required replacement of 2 cells. - at the time of repair and replacement of 2 cells the battery range of the vehicle dropped by over 75-100miles per charge. - Dealership is unwilling to diagnose or recognize the problem and say the new lower range is "within expected standards" while it dropped overnight over 75-100miles in range after servcie not over time. - vehicle now has a max range of around 150-200miles. Previous range was 220 - 270 miles. Looking for resolution - this car has been in service for more thna 6 months since 2021 and all issues trace back to electrical.Initial Complaint

On 12/11/24 I submitted a request for cancellation of my maintenance plan contract. I submitted all information as requested within the time frame requested, according to the contract. However, I was not refunded the full amount pain and instead $25 was deducted from my refund. I have attached a document detailing all attempts to resolve this with the company. As you can see, the information keeps changing with each person I talk to or I am not provided clear information at all. I am requested that per their contract that I signed, they will refund the full amount that I paid, which was $295.00.Initial Complaint

On May 7, 2024 the brakes failed on my 2023 **** Q5 when I was parking causing an accident. My motor revved up while my foot was on the brake and jumped the curb went 3-4 feet hit a parked car and moved it at least 3 feet. Causing over $15,000 damage to my car and over $8,000 to the other car. All the codes lite up. reason I bought this car was the safety features one of which the car is supposed to stop if it hits anything. It should have stopped when it hit the curb. The engineer report says there are no codes on the module because the incident wasn't significant enough to register. Also the My right knee had muscles pulled from pushing on the brake so hard and my neck was hurt. When the tow truck driver took it to the body shop and parked it the motor revved and lunged but he was able to get it to stop before it hit the fence. ***** ***** the receptionist at *** ****** body saw it happen and told me.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2021 Volkwagen ID.4 in December of 2021. It was a brand new vehicle. When the vehicle was purchased ** was advertising 260 miles per charge in vehicle range (which they still advertise). We were told by the dealership as well as during regular services to only charge the battery to 80% to preserve the longevity of the battery. Since purchase, the vehicle has been at the dealership for roughly 50 days. They have replaced the battery and completed system updates and we still only get roughly ******* miles per charge depending on weather. We tried to file a complaint under lemon law but a mediator ruled against against us. We believe that this falls under a warranty issue as well as false advertising in terms of range. The employees at the dealership also complain every time we bring the vehicle in for repairs or service because they say they have nothing but problems with them. The mediator even explained to **'s counsel that although he didn't believe the complaint fit the lemon law, he did believe that ** should replace the vehicle in terms of warrant and customer service. A desired resolution would be for Volkswagen to take back the vehicle for the approximate pay off value of the loan (approximately $30,000) and we would be willing to purchase another gas powered vehicle from Volkswagen in return. **'s warranty was for 4 years and/or ****** miles which ever comes first, which we have not exceeded to this point. Further, there are still recalls that currently have no fix or will require the vehicle to be in the shop for days on end again.Initial Complaint

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with Volkswagen, sales and service experiences I have had with my 2022 **** A5 Sportback, purchased from **** Plano in *****, **. The repeated dishonesty, failure to address significant safety issues, and the negligence Ive encountered throughout my ownership of this vehicle have caused frustration and mental anxiety, and have taken a toll on my health. I am particularly concerned for the safety of my teenage son, who also drives the vehicle, and request that you allow me to return the car as a buyback. Volkswagen has denied my request.Customer Answer

I purchased my vehicle in Nov 2020, BRAND NEW Passat, and despite being only 4 yrs old with ****** miles, it has experienced mechanical failures that should not be occurring in a well-maintained vehicle of this age. Especially when all service milestone appointments (******, etc.) have been kept and performed AT BROWNS VOLKSWAGEN IN ********, **. Any suggested maintenance was paid for and allegedly completed. Over the years I have reported how my car excessively burns oil and often needs to be topped off. Instead of accurately diagnosing the problem by checking for internal leaks, while the car was covered by the power train warranty, I was told that the car is engineered to burn oil between recommend oil changes and that was okay. Now that my car is no longer under warranty, the same problem still exists and as of Feb 21, 2025, I was told that a new cylinder head needs to be replaced due to ports being full of OIL AND EMISSIONS. While the cylinder head is part of the engine (power train), the source of the issue as written by their employed and trained service technician is a result of carbon emissions. Virginia federal state law says that my car is covered for 8yrs or 80k miles for carbon emissions. I spoke with ** in customer service, and he said the issue is as a result of a lack of carbon cleaning. If that is indeed the case, explain the following: At what mileage should carbon cleaning be done? why was that not recommended? I have brought my car solely to the dealership and has that never been done, why not. This pattern of behavior suggests and the intent to delay repairs until your vehicle is out of warranty thereby shifting the financial burden to me, which is over $5k. I was told by a service technical at the Browns Volkswagen this is the way the car is designed- unacceptable! I believe Volkswagen and ******** ***** ** has acted in bad faith and has failed to uphold its obligations to provide reliable, safe vehicles and proper service.Customer Answer

I have attached a copy of the standard warranty provided by Volkswagen. It gives a breakdown of what's included and the mileage. As you can see there is a federal emissions warranty that goes up to ****** miles. I was advised that my cylinder is clogged due to carbon which is a result of the dealer not performing the proper maintenance. My extended warranty denied my claim as a result they indicate that the carbon filter should have been cleaned. The attachment does not include what parts are included in the standard warranty provided by Volkswagen. I was also told today, 3/10/25, by a service tech at browns Volkswagen that the dealership does not like to deal with extended warranty companies because they are in the business to make money. When I look at what could have caused the cylinder to be clogged it does reference a lack of maintenance and i have taken my call to ALL service appointments for all milestone maintenance to be completed and Volkswagen is shifting blame to the dealership which is under their umbrella.Initial Complaint

I have a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan that I leased in 2019. Once the lease was finished I then financed the car. The car started experiencing excessive oil consumption issues 2 years into the lease. I was bringing it in to be serviced at my local dealership, every time the oil light would come on and was told at every service appointment that this was normal engine consumption and unsuccessful attempts of fixing the issue. Fast forward 3 years later my check engine light illuminated at the beginning of November 2024 and I wasnt able to get an appointment until 3 weeks later, November 26, 2024. Currently its been almost 3 months and have been told that my car has not been worked on. The car is still under the manufacturers warranty of 6 years/72,000 miles which expires May 7, 2025. The only thing theyve done is diagnose it and it needs a new cylinder head, but in order for that to happen the engine needs to be torn down. When I asked about the timeline of this I was told it could potentially takes months, due to 2 engines waiting in front of ours to have repairs done as well. Ive been corresponding with the Regional Case Manager of ** which has been NO help. When I asked how many cars were ahead of ours 1 month ago I was told 2, and today 1 month later there are still 2, something is not right. Im paying insurance and a loan monthly for a car I dont have in my possession, plus my car is depreciating daily. I was able to get $15,500 in November and today its worth $12,000. Absolutely unacceptable. Volkswagen claims they cant help with anything other than give me status updates, which I can do myself.
