      This bank is the worst bank I have ever bank with. They don't help the customer when in hardship, they charge a lot of fees and interest knowing you are in hardship. They can care less if you don't even have food or money for your family or baby. They only care about charging the customer and they eating all of the money Laughing at us who pay day by day high interest and fees. I had to close my checking account due to excessive fees. I choose Wellsfargo over then. Don't have any business or bank with them. Their rating is -0. After I came back from maternity leave I just asked for one month of help and I was rejected. Penfed socks all the way, close this bank. All they answer to a zero feedback 'We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience. Helping our members achieve their financial goals' which goals causing overdraft fees and not helping and you eating all the money. Don't dare say you are sorry because you are not. I see this bank has more bad ratings close this bank is not given customer anything good. Again penfed you suck.

      I already called and they said they couldn't help me. I had to redo everything again. Well I can't because I came out of Maternity leave and I just asked for an extension only one month and they said the can't I had to paid both month which is about 1k in June. That's insane. There was no help at all. Who can help me?

      Deferred a payment a year ago and I was getting late payments on my credit. I called to get it removed from my credit and they said the late payments were correctly documented even though there is notes in my account about my deferment. On top of that I had to make a double payment to catch up for their incompetence. Stay away from penfed they deny and refuse to fix problems they create.

      This ‘credit union’ is beyond predatory. They pay lackluster rates and offer lackluster products to make up for overextending themselves during the mortgage refi craze. This ‘community’ bank slashed customer support, and turned their predatory practices to the max to make up for their losses.
      My main gripe is that they now queue all transactions for the day and then process debits first ensuring you are hit with multiple return fees. A practice which all the national banks no longer follow, guaranteed by their deposits agreements. Not PenFed, they updated their deposit agreement so that they may process and queue transactions however they please. Customer support was reluctant to help with my first time over drafting my account. Now I’m stuck having to call and beg for NSF fee reversals from all my payments that were declined.
      PenFed offers nothing to keep customers, they pay rates lower than the national banks. Plus every financing deal I’ve had with them involved a national bank beating them by multiple percentage points. They refuse to compete. All they care about is charging fees, and making their outdated processes even more predatory to make up for their book losses on mortgages. They just laid off about 20% of their workforce and I’d imagine it will only get worse.
      I’m not normally the one cheering on bank failures, while the national banks get bigger… but in this case I hope PenFed goes insolvent.

      One of the worst employers anyone can work for. Bias treatment. Management has no clue. HR does not follow procedures and they violate hippa and medical privacy rights of their employees.

      In all it is A very poor ran company.. Do not receive any loans from this company. I was on the phone am in the middle of workers comp case of getting injured on the Job. They mix up which bank account for transactions. Also was on the phone with the company. All great, when I walked around the house.. they took my car.. than just said sorry.. that should not of happened. 2 weeks later, letter shows up said they sold my car and I owe them the balance.. I could of done that, but I wanted my car for work.. wow exactly. Don't worry what that department says.. the other departments have there quota.

      PenFed is the WORST! They make everything extremely difficult! All I want to do is make my loan payment and they make it so hard! Then they charge you for every little thing! $5.00 loan fee — on top of the interest $5.00 ach fee for making the payment! They want you to use the app but the app is so no user friendly and just sends you in circles when you try to do anything!! AWFUL!! Do not recommend!

      If I could give a 0 stars I would.. I have had this loan since January 2022 and did good w payments till I got hurt 3/31.. I ASKED FOR A ECONOMIC HARDSHIP AND WAS REFUSED B C THEY STATED I WAS NOT BRING IN ENOUGH TO WORK A DEAL ON MY LOAN.. OK!! SO MY OTHER CREDIT CARDS I HAVE ALL BEEN ADDED TO ECONOMIC HARDSHIP FOR 6 MONTHS TILL MY WC GETS FIXED AT COURT B C THEY STOPPED FOR DUE TO ISSUES GETTING REPORTS.. ANYWAYS NO ONE IS WILLING TO WORK W ME AND MY CREDIT THAT WAS ONCE 780 IS NOW 550 B C THEY REFUSED TO WORK W YOU AT ALL.. IF YOU WANT A LOAN DONT COME HERE RUN AND KEEP RUNNING B C THIS BANK WONT WORK W YOU EVEN IF YOU GET HURT AT WORK OR WHERE EVER... I HAVE HANDED IN SO MUCH PAPERWORK AND GET NO ANSWERS AND WHEN I DO THEY TELL ME THEY CANT HELP ME.. NOW IM GETTING SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY FOR MY BACK AND WILL BE LAID UP FOR MONTHS AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME AT ALL SAY I DONT QUALIFY FOR HARDSHIP!! THANKS FOR NO HELP AND CANT WAIT TILL THIS BANK IS EITHER PD OFF OR I GO BANKRUPTCY AGAINST THESE PPL AND THIS BANK!!! I NOW ONLY BRING IN $116 FROM SSI TILL THEY FIGURE OUT MY COMPENSATION..       I received a letter in the mail saying I applied for a personal loan , which I never did. This is alarming. Seems to be fraud, some kind of scam. When I called there was no option to speak to someone. The recording asks for social security number and birth year and I didn’t provide and hung up since that is private information. I also did not see an inquiry on my credit. Very suspicious.

To assist our members efficiently, our automated system asks for their four-digit birth year and the last four digits of their social security number, but you can bypass this by not entering anything.       In reference to mortgage. They will not honor their promises. Was told I could do a buy down. Waited for rates to drop and contacted them. After discussion we decided on a lender credit instead of reducing the rate. This was over 2 weeks before closing. Right before close I received the final disclosure and the credit was not reflected. Then I am told I shouldn’t have been offered the credit and only a rate change but now it’s too late to make any changes. Escalations was denied. So now I am out money or reduced rate due to incompetence.

      I have never in my life experienced such a horrendous display of buffoonery, Disorganization, ineptitude and inability to follow through, I cannot believe I bank with this organization.
      I have PTSD from trying to do a couple simple things that should have been no brainers that took over 2 months and are still in process.
