I receive a bill from ************ ************************** pay it. Twelve months for ****** which I have been paying because a long time member. They did cash the check. However after I pay the bill for 12 months of service they send me another bill for ****** for same service. When I call they say things have chg & this is the new billing. I asked to speak to a supervisor but none available, I ask for the supervisor to call me back but not sure it they can do that. If they would have sent the 2nd bill first I would have canceled the paper but now she says can only refund me partial amount. Also the agent was very nice but somewhat difficult do understand. They are not giving me any fair options here. **********

I have been trying to cancel my digital subscription for MONTHS now. I originally signed up for a promotional rate to access articles behind a paywall but a few months back the promotion ended and I noticed I rarely, if ever, used it. The email address provided gets kicked back. And the phone number doesnt work. Both of these contact methods are provided on their direct website under customer care. I am trying to avoid contacting my bank in order to request a stop to their payments but Im not sure what else I can do. The ******* point journal is ripping me off.

I remember a time when the Gannett Company was a well-respected news purveyor. But their digital media subscription service is deceptive. They provide no advance notice when a trial subscription is ending. The subscriber receives no advance notice that they will be billed at the regular subscription price. They acknowledged that I had never used the service! My complaint about being charged were met with "we apologize for the error and will cancel your subscription but will not refund your money." If I could rate them with a "Zero" I would.

I cancelled my subscription on 1/23/24, and was just charged yesterday $16.07 for an active subscriptions. I called and they tried to claim they could not refund me, only cancel it going forward. I did not take that for an answer as I had record of my phone call to them on 1/23, and had remembered it because they had refused to send an email at that time confirming the cancellation and I had thought that was suspicious. Well now I know why, because they wanted to just keep charging me for it. They eventually said they would refund me and cancel the subscription, but again not willing to send an email to that affect. After 5 more minutes of restating over and over I need a written confirmation that the cancellation was performed they offered to request such an email their "team" and I would likely receive it in 1-2 days. We'll see if that actually happens.

I signed up for an offer I saw for the Crossword Puzzle which would cost me $1 for the first year. Several months later I was sent an email saying I would be charged $29.99 for the next year even though only a few months had passed since signing up. I attempted to contact customer service who told me the offer was not for $1 year despite the fact that I had the actual email and was willing to send it to them. In the end they would not honor the original offer. This was a bait-and-switch. Gannett and ********* are awful and dishonest.

What a terrible company. I assume they are a processing company for newspapers/online content across *****************. I'm in ************* and signed up to get online content of my local news outlet (seacoastonline.com) in Oct of 2023 during a $1 promotion. Before the 6-month period was over, I logged on and noted that there were two (2) different accounts with my name, but they were both attached to the same phone # and email address, so I just figured it was a glitch or something. I also looked at BOTH accounts and they said the status was "stopped", so I was content. On May 3, I saw two (2) charges of $14.99 each on my debit card with "Gannett" as the vendor. I called and was told that both of the accounts were still active and I didn't cancel by calling, so the charges were legitimate. I asked about both accounts reflecting as "stopped" and the representative said they would let their website people know. I asked for a refund since there's no way I would know they were still active. She said they don't give refunds. I asked for a refund of ONE account since they were both allegedly "opened" in Oct of 2023 for the same newspaper and the same user (me). She said they don't give refunds. I asked for a supervisor. She said they can't give refunds. I told her I didn't care and she said I didn't need a supervisor, as there was nothing further to offer me. I told her to cancel both accounts. Hopefully she did.

This is the worst publisher I have encountered to date! My business requires Affidavit of Publications proving publication for legal ads, I run legal ads all over my state and have too many billing issues with this company! I PREPAY my ads, if I didn't they wouldn't publish them. Every single time, I receive an invoice trying to make me pay for the ads a second time. I have to literally fight with the *** who is obviously only authorized to read from their script (from another country) and they will not let me speak to anyone that will resolve the issue. After remaining on the phone for a long time, having proof of payment available, they will finally admit that I have paid! This is horrible! Find an alternative if you can, this company SUCKS!
