I bought a refurbished alternator from the ******* ** store in July of 2022. I replaced the alternator in my car with this part but later discovered that the alternator was not the problem (it was a fuel pump problem instead). A few nights later, I noticed that when driving at night my headlights were dimming, then brightening, then dimming again while driving. The dash lights were also occasionally flickering. I returned to the Advance Auto store and had the alternator tested. It tested bad, and would need to be replaced. Since I had not yet returned the original alternator, and since I knew it was not the problem I asked if I could simply return the refurbished alternator and reinstall the original. The store manager told me they would not accept a return on parts that had already been installed. I then asked if I could purchase a second alternator to take it home and install it and then return the one that wasn't working to get my money back. He said they would not do that either, and I would have to replace the alternator in the parking lot to return the bad alternator in order to get a replacement. I removed the bad alternator in the parking lot and exchanged it for another one. The headlights were still dimming after replacing the alternator a 2nd time, and a few weeks later my battery light came on and the car broke down. I went to ****** auto parts and bought another alternator, and all of the electrical problems I'd been having are now solved. Advance Auto sold me 2 alternators that did not work and refused to allow me to return them when I discovered that they did not work. There was no way for me to know if they worked or not without installing them. This company sells bad parts and does not stand behind them. I will never buy a part from them again, which is sad because I used to buy a lot of parts from them.Advance Auto Parts

When I arrived at the store to get the battery installed, Jerry ********* advised me that he wouldn't install the battery.
I told him that the Advance Auto Parts website stated that the battery would be installed free of charge. He then told me that the website indicated that they battery that I purchased couldn't be installed and I would have to take my car to a shop.
I asked him to show me on the website where it stated that the battery couldn't be installed. Since he was incorrect regarding what the website stated, he then changed the excuse and told me that battery installation is only a courtesy.
Of course, I told him that the website doesn't indicate that battery installation is a courtesy.
I purchased the car battery based on the Advanced Auto Website stating that the installation was free and proximity to my home.
This was a horrible customer service experience.
Either, the website is practicing "baiting and switching" regarding free batter installation or Jerry ********* knowing lied to me was derelict in his duties when he refused to perform the battery installation as indicated on the Advance Auto Parts website.Review fromMichael B

As what seems to be the norm, I had a horrible experience at one of their locations with an employee. I had questions regarding their refund policy to which the associate who claimed to be a manager (Tony ********) replied, "We don't do refunds". I smirked and laughed because I obviously thought he was joking with that response. What nation-wide brick and mortor chain doesn't have at least some kind of refund policy? He considered the smirk rude and refused service to me, kicked me out of the store, embarrassed me unnecessarily and I had to walk to the nearest ********* as my car was broke down. I was unsure if I was buying the correct part which is why I had questions regarding the policy on returns. I was--and still am completely blown away with the unprofessionalism and complete childish behavior of someone who is supposed to be a manager and a representative of your brand. As like many others, their rebate is a fraud. Submitted a rebate on 8/27/22, was approved, and here we are, 10/27/22 and the rebate remains in "payment processing". Called the customer service number and spoke to Mercedes who said they'll be sending the rebate the first week of November and she acknowledged it was way past the timeline initially specified due to processing a lot of rebates. I stated that has nothing to do with me, I followed the guidelines, they are the ones who are not honoring the rebate. She only offered to go to the store and ask for an in store credit (a store I have no intention spending a dime in after this fraud).
I am going to look into commerce fraud as someone needs to sue this company for their fraudulent rebate program. This is a $20 rebate. I will never do business with Advance Auto Parts again, there's way too many good auto places out there to bother with this type of scam. Can we say...class action lawsuit?Advance Auto Parts

Absolutely horrible customer service.They deleted my warranty on my jeep parts.Brake pads have lifetime rotors 2 years.All of a sudden my warranty disappears. Management calls says they check into it and call back never did.I called back management got the ole f you button.Wont buy again.**** **** I WILL BUY FROM TIRED OF THESE FRANCHISE PARTS PLACES THAT RIPPOFF CUSTOMERSAdvance Auto Parts

Advance Auto Parts in ***** ******* ** ******* **** **** has an employee that is extremely rude. We needed a battery replaced, they said they would take off the installation fee if we took it to local shop. When we tried to do that the next day an employee named Dillon said he didn't know what I was talking about. He pretty much did everything but call me a liar. He called the man on duty the previous night and confirmed that that is what was told to us. He then called his store manager. The manager said go ahead and give us the 65 dollars off the battery, Dillon told me 'look at the computer, I can't do it.' He was rude, indignant, and the epidemy of what you don't want an employee to be when a customer walks in. I did ask for an apology once he confirmed our story, he just smirked. In addition when I pulled in both of the employees were outside the shop smoking. Geesh, in the end we got a better battery from the local shop who said Dillon was rude to them on the phone too. I'll never go into that Advance Auto Parts again. I thought about going in and complaining to the general manager but honestly I don't want to get my blood pressure up again, so this is just a warning to other folks that may want to do business at this location.Advance Auto Parts

All three stores in ****** ** are not professionally experienced in part sales I just replaced a caliper and brakes and a rotor after recently replacing all four on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Then find out needed to change front rubber lines cause they didn’t recommend me doing that so I ruined rotors then they just sold me a driver side caliper after saying a few times it was passenger side so thought I was good after getting part from them well couldn’t get brakes to work right so kept bleeding them after 3 big 12 bottles of brake fluid garage taken cause I couldn’t get it said get a new master cylinder so 170 later wasn’t that with 70 brakes I just put on with a new passenger side rotor but they gave me the wrong part it was a driver side so 800 dollars into this mess they need to get people working there that at least knows his or her parts at least somewhat mechanically inclined they need to return this master cylinder and replace that new rotor and pads and give the money back for at least two bottles of brake fluid since this is their fault I’m am very upset and don’t have money to be wasted due to their errors it has happened many occasions but it’s in acceptableAdvance Auto Parts

Shame on them people at the Advance Auto in ********* ** there are multiple times I have purchased warranties on parts and when you go back they ALWAYS act like they can't find it so today I call and I have warranty on brakes and I call ahead to make sure they can find the warranty and the man on the phone says well if the calibur caused the brakes to go bad than warranty on good never responding if he can find the warranty so when I call back to ask again a different man answers and says I will tell you just what the other guy just told you and hung up on me so then you call the complaint line and guess what NO ANSWER so first off all BEWARE do not purchase parts here they never honor their warranty and talk to you disrespectful the most horrible customer service I have ever seen and not wonder because there apparently is no one for them to answer to because the complaint line is non existent!Advance Auto Parts

i had a bad experience with advance auto parts in ********** ** ***** **** ******* **** ********** **** ** . i went their last weekend for a battery check for a 2018 Nissan altima due to my vehicle turning off and showing the battery sign on my dash so i went to have my battery checked when getting their , their was only 1 male worker at the front . he was a tall male older gentlemen with 1 white looking hair . i then proceed to ask the gentle if he could check by battery . After asking him he then walked to my car and attached the machine to my car . I then asked him what the machine said and he stated that my battery was good when i knew that couldn't have being right because my battery light was on !!!!!! later on that day i walk out to my car to head to work and my vehicle would not start . I then had to have my car towed to the dealership to be checked . ONLY TO FIND OUT it was my battery !!! after being told by advance that my battery was good when it was not . it was told to me that their was no way my battery was good when my battery was completely dead !!! As a person that use to work for advance 1 year ago this was a bad experience and unacceptable !! and customer service is everything and i feel as if the gentlemen didn't want to do his job because he lied about my battery and i kicked out over 300.00 dollars vs 120.00 for a battery install . This gets 1 star from me again this was unacceptable from the sales people who are running the front . your job is to help and assist people to best of your ability not lie because you dont want to do your job . how it was done was absolutely unacceptable and i will not be shopping their again or even having my car check their any moreAdvance Auto Parts

I had bought some merchandise and went in 48 days later with my receipt to get a refund (the advanced on ****** ** ******** **) and they would not give me my money back only offers me a gift card but on the website it sais I have up to 90 days no questions asked. If I bought something with gift card and returned it I'd have to get credit on gift card, should be the same with MY MONEY right?
