On 6/19/2024, My husband and I signed a contract to have a Sump pump and a back up battery installed in our home. It took forever to get someone to schedule the service but when they finally came out to do it, it wasn't a sump pump at all and they couldn't complete the work. We paid them $****** as a deposit to the work and since they didn't do anything, we have asked for our money back. No one in this company will take our call or tell us anything about our refund of our deposit.Business Response

We signed a contract on 7/18/24. Work was done on 7/25-7/27 Thurs-Sat. The quotes were for sidewalk from driveway up to steps *****, floor support under kitchen & livingroom ***** and garage ***** before *** discount. So ******* after discount. The salesman/part owner said he could fix the porch. We didn’t ask for the porch to be fixed because we already had a plan for that. He convinced us that they could fix it. So that was an additional ***** after discount. The workers came the first day, dropped everything where it was and left early because the team lead quit. The second day they had to rush to get done which is why they did half a cleanup job (ie didn’t rake the ruts out of our & the neighbor’s yard before throwing seed & straw on top). Their equipment was broken so they had to come back on Sat. to finish up. The porch problem was NOT fixed by their solution. The workers said that we should have never been told that what they do would fix our porch problem because it was impossible for them to do. If they wouldn’t have added on ***** to our bill for work that wasn’t possible, we wouldn’t have complained. An owner/salesman should be responsible to know what his product can and cannot do. We were told someone would call today to discuss this. But they have not called.Business Response

**** ******* from Fsm came out, I told him we wanted our foundation walls corrected and mortared up. He said the issue was water coming in and we need drains and a sump pump and a wall membrane, and that they would put up wall braces to correct the walls. I expressed my concern about the holes, missing bricks and mortar, grading, and tree roots. He told me not to worry, they would take care of everything. The grading and tree roots weren’t important. First Fsm dug the sump pump drainage pipe at the wrong angle, so water was dumping into my foundation. They covered the inside of my broken moldy foundation walls with a waterproofing membrane, and put up braces but didn’t tighten them. When I asked if they fixed the holes, loose bricks and mortar, they told me they don’t do masonry work. never once was I told they didn’t do masonry until this point. they charged me *****$ to do everything but the one thing we needed. They came back out and put the new drain barely 10 ft from my foundation in the frontyard which hadn’t been graded properly. I asked them if they could come take down the membrane and refund me since i have to fix all the loose bricks and holes. After being cussed at, gas lit, and threatened they finally did, but I still had to pay for them installing it. I now owe *****, my basement floor is still wet, and my walls crumbling. Other companies have advised me not to tighten the braces because it will cause more damage to my unstable foundation, braces only work for minor situations. I have tried to communicate this to FSM, and I was told that concrete had nothing to do with the integrity of the foundation. I’ve been misinformed and lied to since day one, This back and forth has been going on for a year and a half. I would like them to repair my foundation, or refund me so I can hire a company that will dig out my walls and actually repair my foundation. It is not okay to lie and take advantage of hard working people in times like these.Business Response

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the issues and have forwarded them to management. The General Manager (GM) informed us that he spoke with the customer and understands she had been having a poor communication experience. Looking at pictures it looks like FSM did the right thing at the time as far as solution goes. The wall is deflecting inward and we installed braces and anchors. The problem is we did not set the right expectations on what was included in our project. She was under the impression that we would be tuckpointing the mortar joints prior to installing the wallseal. GM also noticed through the photos there could be potential settlement which is leading customer to believe the walls are still moving inward.
Customer has 2 companies coming out on 8/5 to assess and offer additional solutions. And a Manager will be scheduled to come back out after those reports.
Possible additional step is to have a 3rd party engineer provide a report on the structural integrity of the home. Assuming the report says that what FSM did will work, We will perform servicing to benchmark and track any movement of the home.
If you have any further concerns, please feel free to reach back out to our team member that you were in contact with.

In October of 2023, I paid Ohio Basement ***** to solve the problem of a wet basement. They said putting a ditch around the whole basement would solve the problem. The basement is still wet.
The first day they were supposed to come no one showed up and I had to call them to find out the job manager knew on Friday he couldn't come Monday morning because he would be finishing up a project but he never called me. He said he would come in the afternoon and then he called and said he as coming the next day
When they came, they had to move an old sink. That sink could not be put back so we went through months waiting for the new one they promised. I had to keep calling them. Finally they put the old one back.
Around the beginning of this year they came back out because the basement was still leaking water. They did a repair on a wall.
A few months ago the basement again was leaking. After me calling a few times to get them to come out, someone came out. He said it would cost *****smore to fix the problem. I told him I had been guaranteed the original work would fix the problem or they would come back out for the original price. The rep laughed when I was upset. He said his manager would call me.
I haven't heard from anyone, Once again I would have to chase them down.
I would appreciate someone calling me to set up a time for them to come back out and fix the wet basement as guaranteed in my contract. Thanks.Business Response

Innovative Basement Authority agreed to use Level 4 Foam to correct the area under our garage floor. On 9 July 2024 the center of the floor was raised too much causing a bump in the center of the Garage making the Garage Door sit uneven on the floor of the Garage which may eventually cause damage to the door lifting mechanism. The unlevel Garage Floor also leaves gaps on the side of the Garage Door which will allow snow & debris to enter the Garage. They also did not seal the cracks as shown on the ads. I contacted the installer, the salesperson ****** and ****** with no responses. ****** called me on 18 July 2024 approximately 12:28 pm from Innovative Basement Authority & promised to remove the concrete 6 feet deep into the Garage & 21 Feet Wide using the Garage Door as a reference and install new concrete per legal construction contractor requirements. I have not received a scheduling date or any further communication from ****** or Innovative Basement Authority.
I am requesting that Innovative Basement Authority complete their promise to correct the Garage Floor. I have 2 repair quotes from vendors and our attorney ready to work on this case for us.

In May of 2024 we requested for a quote to be performed to repair our foundation of our house. The contractor came to our house and gave us a quote of ****** and some change to stabilize and repair a broken corner of our foundation. We agreed and an additional ***** dollars was removed and a down payment of roughly ***** dollars and a date on June 10 and 11 to have the work come be completed. The workers that arrived stated they were only contracted for one day and placed 7 helical piers to stabilize our foundation. They were unable to place an eighth pier and stated it was unnecessary and discounted **** dollars. Unknown to us but known to them the footer was thin and they broke the footer and were unable to lift the foundation back into place. We have spoke with them numerous times and they agreed to come back out June28 but they attempted to force us to sign a non liability agreement before they touched the foundation. One of the original crew even confirmed on sight the foundation sank more. We are now having to receive new quotes to fix the footer and repair the foundation that was not stabilized by the piers. Due to the work not having achieved stabilization and additional damage is done we are requesting the *** *** dollars we owe through ******** and for the down payment to be provided back so we can afford to have another contractor come and repair the foundation and the cracked footer. The free quote that was provided to us in May stated they handled this all the time and they had all of their own masonry and contractors that stand by their work. We have an open dispute with ******** in regards to unfinished work.Business Response

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the issues and have forwarded them to management. The General Manager(GM) informed us he did a site visit to the home and looked over the project. We brought a lift waiver as customer did want us to continue to lift the home (due to the condition of the wall). Upon inspection on our arrival, someone had since removed where the wall had been grouted / tuck pointed along with what looked to have some skim coat removed from the wall following our install. Customer refused to sign the waiver and told us not to continue with the work. Looking over the work we can install the pier that was removed (due to the condition of the wall) but would have to install the pier on the inside if we were to. Also we still would require a lift waiver be signed prior to continuing the lift. While GM was doing the site visit the homeowner said we did not lift at all. Customer said he dug up the piers we installed and said they "destroyed his footing". He also said there is noting else we can do as he now has to repair everything we did to the wall and they we are not stabilizing anything. GM told him anything with a settlement or continued work would require the management and possible legal team. Customer stated he "will be canceling the ******** and we will not be paying and you will not get money for this project." Customer said there is nothing else for us to do and he will have a legal team look over the contract. GM asked customer if he would like GM to reach back out to him. He said he will reach back out to us.
If you have any further concerns, please feel free to reach back out to our team member that you were in contact with.

I am rejecting this response because: we were blindsided by a non liability waiver and removed the foam we had put into the crank in our foundation wall that was supposed to be removed by your team according to your salesman that also promised that it would be and “easy fix”. There was nothing modified on the original install. I also like that you left out the treating phone calls regarding getting your legal team involved for nonpayment and when one your “contractors” came out and said “sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t”. You’re a company that does not stand behind your work. We expected better than this. We are requesting a full refund to repair the damage caused to the footer that we have to hire a different company to fix.
Sincerely,
***** ********Business Response

Once customer dug up the piers and repudiated the contract, the discussion of FSM's responsibilities under the contract ended. FSM offered to do additional work, but as pieces were removed, we would not be able to guarantee the work and thus the lift waiver would need to be signed.
Customer said they will be disputing the ******** loan account and having a lawyer look over the contract. Any time a contract dispute or refund is being requested, the Legal team for FSM must be included going forward.
If you have any further concerns, please feel free to reach back out to our team member that you were in contact with.

I had a very disappointing experience with Tarheel Basement for a structural wall foundation repair that in 08/2023. I paid almost *** for a repair that included fixing floor joists, footers, creating a new wall, and adding jacks to level the floor. the quality of work was poor from the beginning. i was told the job was finished the first time i arrived to find my home in horrible shape. i have attached photos. another tarheel crew had to come repair it .
After 6 months, I had a follow-up inspection and was informed that the job was poorly done. The new local office manager mentioned issues with the Raleigh office and acknowledged the problems. An independent inspection confirmed significant structural damage due to poor workmanship, necessitating a complete redo of the job.
Communication with the company has been a nightmare. Despite multiple attempts, getting a response is nearly impossible. The crew left my property in a mess, with nails and debris scattered, damaged siding, and even unsecured access that led to a homeless person getting under my house.
I have been given numerous dates for follow-up repairs, but none have been honored. I would not recommend Tarheel Basement to anyone. The entire experience has been stressful, costly, and frustrating. I'm now facing potential legal action to resolve the situation.
have been trying to email a manager and talk with a manager to discuss all of these issues and more but as before the response are evasive and dim. I have talked with their customer team several times explaining all this every time. and have not had a call or email from the company to deal with this manner. I used this company because of what I thought as a reputable, and it is bbb certified. that has not mattered. I also used their secondary payment plan company. this has put me at even more of a loss. as I have to play that company because it's a separate entity and now have to deal with the financial side with tar heel and possibly the court systemBusiness Response

I appreciate your involvement in this matter and your assistance in bringing it to the attention of the management, something I have been unable to achieve on my own.
As of August 6, repairs were initiated on my home, including the drilling of holes in the foundation wall, backfilling, and applying an unpainted gray stucco. An engineer has since inspected and approved the progress, allowing us to move forward. However, the communication from the company has been spotty, subpar, and highly unprofessional.
The state of my house has deteriorated significantly due to the ongoing repairs, affecting the structural integrity both inside and out. This damage has not been properly assessed or addressed. The lack of workmanship, quality, and customer care continues to be a major concern.
I am eager to have my home repaired, as it is now in worse condition than before the work began. I am astounded, perturbed, and frankly angry at the lack of responsibility and concern exhibited by the company regarding my home.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to a swift resolution.
Sincerely, Mark RiutortInitial Complaint

Indiana Foundation came to waterproof our basement on April 24, 2024. The contact states a lifetime warranty is included and that the contractor will provide additional labor and materials to fix a leak at no additional charge to the customer. Shortly after they completed the work we had a heavy rainfall and water made it's way onto our floor. The water management system they installed should have prevented the water coming in in that location. They finally sent a team out to address and attempt to fix the leak on June 24, 2024. Unfortunately the work they performed that day did not fix it. On July 4, 2024 after it rained we again had a water leak on the floor in the same location. I called the next day, July 5, 2024. They informed me they would send a crew to remediate the leak on July 15, 2024. They did not show, said they would come the next day, July 16. Once again a no show, not even a phone call. My wife called July 19, 2024. She was told a crew would come July 20. Again, no show and no call. Three times this past week a crew was supposed to come attempt to fix the water leak and never showed. We spent $********* to have our basement waterproofed and it is NOT waterproofed. They are not honoring their warranty. It feels like we are being ridiculed. Please help us to resolve this problem.Business Response

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the issues and have forwarded them to management. The General Manager informed us that a Technician is scheduled for Saturday (7/27) to assess and review the conditions on their property. Initial thought is to add a basement gutter around the raised pad and tie to original system. Customer says our system is working fine just having some water in the non-guttered area. It appears we can tie this area in as needed. When we evaluate the area, we will determine next best course of action.

As I mentioned before. I would like to keep the case open until the work is complete. We were originally told they would possibly be back to perform the work August 1st or 2nd. They could not come and said it would be August 16 and 17. Now we are informed it won't be until August 23 and 24. It keeps getting pushed out further and further. For that reason I want to keep the case open to ensure the work does get done.
