To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recent experience I had with a Coinstar machine located at a ******* in ************, *******. On this occasion, I deposited 106 pennies, totaling $1.06. However, I received only $0.33 in return. The machine deducted a $0.66 feeover 60% of the total amountwhich is significantly higher than the advertised 12.9% service fee plus a $0.99 flat fee. This fee structure disproportionately affects users who deposit small amounts, as the flat fee consumes a substantial portion of the total. In my case, the result was a return of less than one-third of the original amount. While I understand that Coinstar offers a no-fee option for eGift cards, this is not always a practical or accessible alternative for all users.Given Coinstars substantial revenue and operating income, such a fee model raises serious concerns about fairness and accessibilityparticularly for individuals who rely on coin redemption services out of necessity. I believe this issue warrants further investigation and regulatory review.I respectfully request that Coinstar reevaluate its fee structure to ensure it is equitable for all users, regardless of the amount deposited. Additionally, I urge consumer protection agencies to consider whether this pricing model aligns with fair business practices.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,****** ******** Jacksonville, **Business Response

Good Day,
Coinstar offers consumers a fast and easy way to turn their idle coins into the things they really want and need. Periodically,Coinstar needs to adjust fees in order to maintain the same level of service and convenience customers expect. There is a 12.9% processing fee with a standard transaction fee. These fees can vary based on location. We understand you are concerned with your transaction due to the low value you poured into the kiosk, our kiosk does not adjust the processing fee based on transaction amount instead it applies to all transactions that occur on the kiosk itself.Your feedback is important to us and will be noted.Thank you,

The coinstar machine in ************* crashed on me and my brother. There wasnt an employee available to resolve any issues for 20 minutes so we had to wait. After the issue was resolved we had to do a second transaction to finish turning in all of the coins. Coinstar charged us two flat fees of .99 instead of one. The crash of the system was their fault. I would like a refund off all fees and charges for the inconvenience. This occurred around 3:15 pm on 6/19/25Business Response

On May 19, 2025, at about 5:50 p.m., I used the Coinstar machine at the ********* Fresh Market at ****************************************************************. I selected the egift card option, then selected *********, and then accepted the terms and conditions for the egift card. I then poured my coins into the machine as instructed: about $78 and change. Then the screen showed a message asking if I needed more time, and I selected the option that I needed more time to complete my transaction. Then another terms and conditions screen appeared, apparently for the cash voucher option (which I never selected). The "back" and "home" buttons on the screen were grayed out and did not work, and the back button on the machine did not work, so I was stuck on this other terms and conditions screen, and the only option was Accept. I selected Accept because the machine already had my coins and there was no way to get them back or cancel the transaction. Then I received a cash voucher for $68.17 (after the fees) and took it to the store clerk for my cash. I then called Coinstar customer service and spoke to Arabella, asking for a refund of the fees that I did not want for a cash voucher (because I wanted a gift card, not cash). ******** refused to refund me the fees because she said the transaction appeared to have validated successfully. I would like a refund of the approximately $10 in fees that were charged. Attached is the cash receipt from the store.Business Response

I have been buying ******** from CoinStar machines for months now. The website will not allow me to sign in and access my Crypto! I go to change my password, and I keep getting an error message. This is deliberate. Coinstar you stole my money from your Kiosk machine at the *********** in ********** **********. ******, the company who disburses the receipts from your ******, the company you align yourself with, has made it impossible for me to contact them or a human agent! They have an F rating here on BBB. I try to access my funds, I keep trying to change my password, and their website keeps giving me an error message. So basically, you steal my money with large fees, and CoinMe gets to keep my crypto AND I GET NOTHING! This is soooo not right. You owe me a full refund of the crypto in my account.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I am unable to chat with CoinMe as I cannot gain access to my account. ****** -- the company whose ****** tickets you dispense from your machines -- will not allow me to change my password. I keep receiving an error message every time I try to change my password and log in. Clearly, they do not want me to gain access to the tokens I have already paid for. Please help me remedy this situation instead of giving me a generic response. That is not helpful. I cannot access my account. ****** has a boatload of complaints. CoinStar is in business with them. It was your machine that took my money. It's your responsibility to remedy this situation.

I went into a local ******* Saturday 3/1/25 to redeem some saved coins at a Coinstar kiosk, the machine encountered an error, which I have a photo of, and could not process the rest of my coins. The total amount is unknown, but I had counted just days before $47 in quarters only, not accounting for the rest of the silver change or pennies. It broke down after $21, meaning I had at the very least, $26 more in just quarters waiting to be counted when the machine got stuck. The manager on duty did not have a key to open the machine to retrieve my coins, so I had to leave my name and number with them while they waited for a service technician. I called the Coinstar customer service line while in the store still and I was told by the representative, ****, that my coins were safely stored inside of a trap that is separate from the rest of the machine and that my coins would be recovered by the technician and left with the customer service manager at *******. I heard nothing back until I entered the ******* again on 3/6/25 and the machine was operating again. ******* customer service stated the technician had been there moments earlier but did not leave MY money with them. Called Coinstar again, 17 minute phone call, and was told that since the technician didnt leave my coins with them, they were going to be recovered when the machine was audited. I have just today, 3/21/25 received a rejection email stating the audit shows no discrepancy. Coinstar has stolen a very conservatively estimated $40 from me, whether it was their technician or somebody else along the way. I see on this forum as well as others that this is a recurring issue with this company. I paid your fee to use your service, which I have done many times in the past, and you gleefully rob me of my money. This is a bad faith practice. Coinstars representative ensured me that my money was safe, if they mean safe in somebody elses pocket, theyre spot on. RIDICULOUS!!!Business Response

I inserted $60 in coins into the coinstar machine in the ****** New Jersey Shoprite on 1/27/2025. I did not notice that all the coins were being rejected, and my cash in receipt was for only 6 cents. I asked a store employee to help, she opened up the machine. Between what she was able to recover from inside the machine, and what was in the rejected coin return, I got $20 back. I called coinstar the next day, they opened problem ticket ******. Today, 3/17/2025 I called coinstar to ask for status on my problem ticket. I was told my claim was rejected, and i would not get any refund.Business Response
