      I just had the most horrible experience with the staff at the leasing office The staff was very unpleasant and disappointing.******* was very rude, disrespectful and honestly I felt discriminated against, I have never in my 44 years of life felt or have been made feel this way before.******* was extremely, rude, and inconsiderate & honestly needs a training moment. When people have questions it is okay not to know the answer and say that they don't know instead of becoming defensive and disrespectful and insulative.Mistreatment of the public is unnecessary and uncalled for. I would have given a negative star star if allowed.Thank you

      I have lived at sunset ridge apartments managed by avenue5 for 3 years. When I moved in I was assured that everything was brand new. We lived without internet for almost 4 months. I had to drop out of school. The nails in the carpets stick up through the floor and cut you bad. They said the carpets were fixed but there were still nails poking through. I moved downstairs from my old and had the same problem. I put in work request after work request but nothing was ever fixed UNTIL I had a dispute with the landlord regarding removing someone from my lease. The new land lord (new landlords constantly) was avoiding my calls and emails. So when I saw her outside I approached her. She was done socializing with our neighbors and was packing up her stuff. I asked her why she was avoiding me and said it was wrong that she was. She ignored me and walked away. Her neighbors who live above her followed me to my apartment with his child, cussing at me and threatening to kill my ex. He had no idea what was going on or why but the way he was talking to me suggested the landlord openly talks about the other neighbors. The next day she served me with 4 lease violations regarding completely made up stuff. The man who threatened me submitted a statement for her accusing me of "cussing" and being " aggressive". The landlord has openly told me when People call when I try to move that these violations will be held against me. I tried to contact Avenue5 and was only able to get a hold of a local rep who basically laughed at me and when I asked to report it she said "complaining is slander". I offered to show her emails and texts and again she had no real interest in helping me. I still have all the evidence but no one will answer the office phone. They also tried to go after my ptsd service animals. They think they are God. A quick ****** and look at their reviews also supports everything I'm saying. Slum lords to the **** watch out.

      This has got to be the most incompetent management company Ive ever seen. I live currently (unfortunately) at ***************** and FOR MONTHS have been speaking to management about my neighbor who plays music almost every single day from midnight to 630am and then starts a long day of screaming at her kids. Not to mention the fact that the cops are constantly here, the same neighbors kids and other kids run around all day vandalizing things and kicking peoples garage doors. I cant wait to find a new place and get out of here and stay away from any Avenue 5 managed property. Especially *****************. Mind you, I pay 3800/month for the privilege of having to sleep in the living room with my newborn and wife because of the neighbors music shaking the walls in our room.

      Ive been a resident for 8 years. A good, clean, reliable resident. I moved here initially as it appeared to be the perfect spot for seniors. It actually was until Avenue5 assumed management. Since then, maintenance calls are left attended unless its an actual emergency and then maintenance on call responds in a timely manner. Messages left for the Manager are totally ignored. Rent checks are held for months at a time before depositing. Last but surely not least, the management personnel and some maintenance workers are the most unprofessional, disrespectful, sometimes racist, and rude people Ive encountered in my entire life of renting and/or as a professional. The only employees who have displayed professionalism, kindness and respect to me have been ******, his brother (I think his brother), and ***. Ive not left yet due to health issues and my age and having to go through an event so huge. Avenue5 in Abingdon and ******** ** is a disgrace to rental property and professionalism. Sad.

      Absolutely atrocious company. Just moved out of their 7th west location. Terrible building - we were the first tenants to live in our apartment. Upon first moving in, our apartment had absolutely no HVAC, for two weeks until they were able to come out and fix it. 1 month in, our tub cracked. Maintenance guy came up and slapped some caulking on it. Looking at the building, you can tell they cut corners. Molding doesn't line ** in several spots. On the outside, the large 10x10 or so tiles they put on as fascia don't have grout in many of them. 11 months into our stay, we noticed water was leaking into our building, through the window. Upon inspection, there was no caulking in the window, and looking outside the building, you can see that our window is one of the ones without grout in it. We went down and informed them of this in person - it took two weeks for their maintenance guy to come and take a look. He took a few pictures, said he'd be back in half an hour, never came back. Two weeks later I asked again, they said "oh you and our maintenance guy both said it was a structural problem." So... Move me to a different unit? Offer me a lesser rent? We lived on the 3rd story and the window was literally falling out, and water was running into the apartment right above multiple electronics. I had to rearrange my entire bedroom.Upon moving out, we patched and painted every nail hole, repainted every section a command strip had peeled. Scrubbed out the stove, swept and mopped, dusted the vents, scrubbed out the washer and dryer. Everything.Called asking about our deposit - were told there was garbage left all over - there wasn't. There might have been one bag we missed. Told there were damaged baseboards - yeah, from water leaking in! Food in the fridge - might have been some, did forget the fridge. But, we were basically told we weren't going to be getting a deposit back. They have to "scrap the apartment" which is an absolute lie. Terrible, predatory company!

      Further commentary - your front desk lady is a horrible, condescending individual. When I asked her what exactly was wrong with the unit, she told me she had JUST finished the walkthrough and you could tell she hadn't really baked her lie in yet. Stuttered, well uh, uh, uh, there was garbage everywhere, uh, there were damage to baseboards. The oven wasn't clean! I stopped her right there and said uh no, I personally spent an hour scrubbing that stove with stove cleaner. She says "yeah it's completely disassembled and in the sink, you can tell it hasn't been cleaned." I did, in fact, leave the 2 silver racks in the sink. They were, however, scrubbed clean as I could get them. I believe some baked on stains on the rack fall under "normal wear and tear." Also, "completely disassembled?" She made it sound like I took apart the back of the thing, not left racks in the sink. I guarantee her write up to corporate is completely exaggerated and outside any kind of reasonable perspective. Oh, also, I forgot! I turned in my 2 months notice (predatory, be warned if you live on their properties, that's some fine print in the lease - 60 day notice) on I believe, May 28th, to be moved out August 1st. When I called on July 30th and let them know I was finished moving out, they told me I had put down August 11th and the system was showing that I owed 800 dollars for the month of August. I argued, and finally after several back *** forths they realized it was "just a typo." Sure, just a Typo, but it was already in the system and if I hadn't had the presence of mind to call in, they would have taken my deposit for what I "owed" and then probably sent me to collections! Your on site management there is absolutely awful! She is rude, she cuts people off, she talks down to people. I was an actual landlord for 5 years! Your 2nd year as a property manager does not mean you get to act like I don't know what I'm talking about!

      Resident at Brentwood Oaks. I am flabbergasted at the way we are being treated as tenants who have never caused one problem. Suddenly when we ask that the conduct of a maintenance man be remedied because he and his wife who live above us are smoking marijuana and we have complained and now being retaliated agai st in violation of the Lanlord Tenant Act.

      I refute their claim that they are following federal and state guidelines. I am in the legal field and am fully aware of my rights under the landlord tenant act as well as americans with disabilities act. The federal government has found me to be physically disabled. Management is failing to maintain a peaceful environment to which we are guaranteed. Accusations of wrongdoing have been made against my son, without an ounce of any evidence to support these claims. There has never been a notice from management, never a letter from the apartment's attorney, nor a police report filed. ****** the property manager, told my son, on record that residents have complained that he has beat on their door, pulled a gun on them, etc. If there an ounce of truth to these inane allegations, one would expect immediate action to be taken. We are peaceful residents who simply want the terms of the lease enforced. The new maintenance man has offered by son marijuana, and my son rejected his offer. He actually told my son he and his wife "love to smoke grass" and they clearly do. They go into the storage space located off the deck and smoke it. When they open the door, the smell is overwhelming. We have complained to management to no avail. Now because we complained we are being retaliated against with these absolutely bogus allegations against my son. Incidentally, the allegations came from the maintenance man against whom we have complained. He asserted that these allegations came from persons of the same nationality that he is. Race has been made a factor by this young man and this is wrong. All of those alleged to have been "threatened" by my son are of the same race as the maintenance man.

      I discoverd black mold in my apartment in the bathroom when i asked the apartment staff to fix it they used a sander to send all the debris from the wall including mold airborn to where it filled my bathroom and living room then they procceded to patch the wall up and told me that my problen was resolved a couple of weeks later it showed up again in my bathroom for the second time I asked for them to remove the mold and they repeated what the steps the maintenence staff performed the first time they worked on removing the mold another couple weeks later it showed up again upon further inspection i looked at the other side of the bathroom wall that had mold which is the closet in the dining room room and saw starting from base of wall to approximatly 3 inches up and almost halfway across was black mold the black mold was visible from both sides i felt this was a health hazard and when telling the apartment manager what was happening the manager said there must be a leak coming from somewhere within the building due to there being black mold and wet carpet directly underneath the mold and manager discussed how they wanted to get started on ripping out the wall while I was living inside of that apartment when I expressed my concearn with my health and what I could be breathing in while living there with the staff working to take out the wall and dig the mold out i asked if they could arrange a diffrent living situation while they were fixing it and the manager denied my request in fear for my safety I had to quickly move out as i deemed it was necessary to do and forced me to find a new home I am very upset with how this was all handled and the amount of money I have had to spend to move myself out and to find my next living situation the staff did not have my well being in their best interest and had no concern for my safety and did not work with me to find another living situation after moving out

      My fiance and applied @ GlenBrooke apartments location. We placed a $200 holding fee for our unit that we were told would have "brand new hardwood flooring. " About close to us finishing our application process our unit was given to someone else. Even though we had the expectations of the unit being in pretty good shape. As we were told we qualified for our unit. The manager said she was going to do a walk through to make sure the unit looked good and was in good shape. I even asked if this unit had new hardwood flooring like we were told we were going to get for the unit she said yes. She then told me to have the lease signed through the online portal before coming and grabbing the keys. Our initial thought was that our apartment was in tip top shape and ready for move in new hardwood flooring . They don't even want to do a walk through with us ? That's odd , but it must be good and clean then right ? That was our first mistake in getting screwed over. We arrive on a Sunday afternoon the lady in the office gave us the keys and we went on our own to our unit. First impression was "beware written in paint on the door" we walk into the apartment there is spray paint on every baseboard on the , wood flooring. Spray paint on the sprinklers, heating vents, and stove top burner to our oven . Which we know from previous experience is a fire hazard. The "brand new hardwood flooring" had gashes and pointy pieces that would be extremely dangerous for our 1 year old to possibly step on or fall on. Lets not forget us stabbing our bare foot when we walk on it. There was a whole table left of the back porch with a dead plant. The vent for the dryer was broken . The entire unit was destroyed. So many safety hazards. The girl in the office begged us to say she did a walk through with us before giving us the keys- she didn't. We denied the lease and they kept our 200 we want it back due to the unit being very unsafe upon move in. A horrible experience.
