Milgard windows refuses to honor their lifetime guarantee. I have a defective window. When I applied for a replacement I was rejected because the developers name was on the deed. I was the original and only owner of the condo. Seems like a catch 22 to me.

Patio door has a lifetime warranty. Advised Milgard about the door swelling when sun shines on it (every morning) on May 15, 2023. They replied on June 1, 2023 and told us that they had us scheduled for service on September 28. On June 19 (today) I contacted them again as the problem worsened due to our inability to close the door, leaving the house vulnerable to illegal access. Again they said that the earliest they could service us was September 28. When I said I would complain to BBB they said "OK". This is unacceptable customer service....especially for a large corporation.

5/2023 I ordered 2 orders of Milgard ******* windows, a first batch of 3 large main living area windows and a second batch 4 smaller. When they arrived they looked great as these were the best I was told Milgard offered in a Vinyl style. I have other properties where I used Milgard. When they shut, they shut tight. The windows seats into the jam over a 1/2 ". To open them requires some effort which is fine as they seal very well. However on these new windows, I noticed right away the difference in sound noise reduction from the outside. After installing the first batch of these newer ******* style, the seal is quite less, you can hear outside sound much easier and the windows all only enter the jamb about 1/4", much less than previous models. The edge lip on the older style that was needed to assist in opening the product because how well they sealed has been eliminated and when the windows are closed, there seems to be play / a gap in the seal.I feel the design is flawed. I reached out to Milgard as I believe these windows do NOT meet advertised specifications for sound and temp isolation as the mating areas do NOT seal well. The individual components seem to be fine but when you close the window it seems to leave unused void allowing heat and sound to pass thru. The operational window needs to be made 1/2" wider in the case of this being a horizontal window to seal tighter. I am sorry there was no sample available and I am Warning ALL contractors to look at this closely as Milgard's answer has been "that is just how they are designed". I feel you may want to buy your windows elsewhere as the Great Milgard product that once was standard may be flawed and nothing is being done about it. This installation location is in **** **********, a dessert area so a great seal is critical for A/C conservation.I will now have to remedy this first batch myself or return and start over.

I am rejecting this response because this doesn't address the concern or the problem discovered.  I appreciate their position but never the less, they are misleading the public who are unaware of this failure.

I wish them the best and say goodbye as a solid customer and will maintain the right to inform all that I know to reconsider their future Milguard vinyl purchases.

Thank you but very disappointed (and will maintain this position).

Today I called the warranty, service line, responding back per Milgards request. I had submitted the online warranty form as required. After holding for more than 20 minutes, I was cut off. I called back the operator and explained the situation and she said theres nothing that she can do- only suggesting I call back again. I even asked if she could ask somebody to call me. She explained that she couldnt put me in the front of the line, which I did not ask for. I explained that it was unacceptable that I would wait on hold only to have the line disconnected. I believe that Milgard should have someone to help in situations like this.

I installed new Milgard windows throughout my home in 2007. The windows supposedly came with a lifetime warranty. Several of the windows have developed moisture between the dual glass panes. I recently made a claim to have two such defective windows changed out. Milgard responded very slowly to my claim. On the day of the scheduled service, I took off from work and waited for the Milgard repair representative to show up. But he never arrived and no one from Milgard bothered to call to alert me. Finally, late in the day I received an email saying that my service call had to be rescheduled to the following week. When the repair rep showed up the next week, he broke one of the two replacement panels while trying to install it. He assured me that he would put in an "expedited order" to replace the broken panel. Although that was two weeks ago, I haven't heard back from Milgard. In the meantime, I have written two emails to their service department asking when the broken glass will be replaced. It has come as no surprise that there are only crickets from Milgard -- no reply to my emails.Early on, Milgard's customer service was responsive, efficient, and their repair personnel were competent. During the past several years, however, I have noticed a measureable decline in their customer service and in the quality of their work. Milgard service reps don't bother calling customers back and the company's wait time on a warranty claim is not just weeks -- it's months. And many of the repair personnel are as indifferent to their jobs as they are incompetent. Milgard used to produce quality products and provide efficient service.. Not any more. I wouldn't recommend Milgard windows to anyone in the market for new windows. My advice instead is pay a little more and get a guaranty that will be honored by a reputable company.

I purchased a Milgard French door for $3,700, It is located in our most used living space and leads out to our deck. Due to defective hinges, the door is sagging and I cannot open it. We must walk halfway around the house to access our ************** has a manufacturer's warranty. I have had Milgard technicians called to my home in the past to fix the same issue. They told me that they have had problems with these hinges and that is what is causing the door to sag. I have called Milgard customer service and corresponded via email (case# ********), but no repair has been scheduled by Milgard. Their responsiveness is very poor. They recommended that I fix it myself by adjusting the hinges. The door is very heavy and the issue is defective hinges. I want Milgard to send out a repairman to fix the door. We purchased a set of sliding doors from Milgard in 2017. Within a few months, the sliding door came off its tract and required service. Over the last 5 years, we have had the same issue, the sliding door comes off its low profile tract and the wheels, as a result, have become damaged. Milgard service technicians have apologized for the way the product has been designed, such that the track is not able to hold the wheels in place. We have submitted several case requests (********, ********, ********, ********) and continued to do so even after the warranty expired asking for replacement wheels, replacement screen or someone to please replace the track, and we are willing to pay out of pocket. However, the response always was, nothing can be done. We called Milgard asking them to please send technicians to at least replace the wheels and or screen door. However, they merely sent us to the store front that sells their products in our area for repair. As instructed, I got in touch with Milgard recommended repair stores, Gahnal Lumber, Lions Gate, ***** Doors. All of them stated they could not repair the wheels or the sliding door and recommended us to go back to Milgard as they were the ones who delivered the door. At this time, our sliding door DOES NOT OPEN. The wheels are damaged from coming off the track. We are willing to pay for someone to repair the wheels or sliding door. We would like this to be done by Milgard, since no other distributor or repair store is willing to help!

In 2017, I purchased two (2) Milgard sliding doors and have been functioning perfectly fine. Just recently however, (1) door has shown damage on the door frame, at the floor threshold. I started a warranty claim as the product shows a "Full Lifetime Warranty". I was told the warranty claim was invalid due to "misuse". Milgard claims the door treshold has been steeped on and is considered "misuse". The warranty document does not however provide state this. I feel this is just the manufacturer's way of getting out of the warranty coverage. I have sent several emails and lastly spoke to **************/ Milgard in ********, ** on 5/34/2023 4:00PM

I returned home from having been gone a couple of weeks. The patio doors inside pane was shattered. There was no **** on the shade curtain and the exterior pane also had no ****. The house is 2 years old. Milgard said the lifetime warranty didn't cover shattered window. The house had been empty so nobody could have caused the window to crack. If you look at the picture you can see the upper right hand corner is where the crack started. I don't know that I have ever had a window shatter without any cause and I've had probably 10 homes. I just want the window replaced as I think windows should be reliable and last longer than 2 years.
