Complaint: 21673359
I am rejecting this response because:They never offered anything.
After having the claim open for around 1 year, we filed a complaint with the BBB.
The company (milgard) failed to offer any resolution and the BBB informed us the period had closed and the business failed to offer a resolution.
After a few ***** emails asking for a resolution and to not be ignored,
The respresentative from milgard, who kept assuring me they wanted to come to some kind of resolution, sent me an email saying milgard does not cover condensation, and they showed me in the warranty where that was stated.
I responded back , does this look like condensation and showed the windows covered in ice inside and outside where the window opens.
They blew us off, ignored us for over 1 year, then finally when pressed, just denied the claim dismissing it as condensation.
Last I checked condensation does not make the window ***** cold and ice up outside of the windows and not be able to open the windows because of all the ice buildup in the window mechnanism.
This company has been like that of an ostrich, stick their head in the sand and ignore it, hoping it goes away. Their response was pathetic and i'm severely dissapointed with how this was handled.
I've never seen a company that refuses to their customers when they have a complaint. Usually, a letter from the BBB gets the upper managements attention and they attempt to reach out and attempt to resolve it.
Not Milgard, They just ignore, ignore and ignore.
Sincerely,

Our case against Milguard Windows was opened in December 2023 when the interior frames of our windows failed allowing a substantial amount of water to inundate our house, damaging walls below and flooring. The windows have a lifetime warranty that is in full effect since we built the house. This leakage occurred during a 24-hour storm when 2 inches of rain fell, and the winds were 48 mph. They sent out a technician who erroneously thought the "weep holes" in the window were blocked. We had documentation/photos that show the weep holes were functioning. After weeks of back and forth they said they couldn't warrant their windows in a storm. I have reached out to the NW Supervisor, *****************, numerous times, weekly, to discuss their determination further with a total lack of response on their part. This is now almost five months without resolution. I have buckets by the windows to protect my house when another storm occurs.Business Response

We had 18 Milgard StyleLine windows installed by a professional Milgard installer about 10 to 12 years ago. These carry a lifetime warranty. Over the years half of them became cloudy and milky on the inside between the glass panes and show machinery dust traces. It took about half a year of phone calls and filling out many forms, taking photos of each picture etc. This was all finally completed and submitted in December 2023. Now, 4 months later, I have 3 case numbers but no response or action from the company.Business Response

I purchased 5 windows from Milgard through my vendor and after installation and inspection I found several issues. One of the handles was broke internally and could not lock, one of the screens was bent and bowed out leaving a 1" gap between the frame and window, the pull bars (I think they call them sashes) were cut in such a way they look broken. Each pull bar has a different radius to the edge, and some pull bars are cut so bad it looks like it was snapped off because the "white" is showing even though the pull bars are tan. Similar to how you bend plastic and it becomes white from stretching. The windows also exhibited moisture on the inside glass after 1 day of rain, even thought the temperature outside was only 60F. I contacted my vendor about these issues, they agreed the pull bars looked miss cut and the moisture inside should not have been there. My vendor replaced the lock themselves as they had another in the shop, but nothing else. We created a support case with Milgard and their response was "that's just how the machine cuts the pull bars" and there's nothing we can do." They also said "condensation inside of the windows is normal and you need to open the windows up to let out the moisture. These are double insulated argon filled window panes, there should not be any moisture inside. Milgard refused to even come inspect the window and referred me back to my vendor, who of course said their is nothing they can do either.Business Response

Milgard Windows and Doors based in ****** ********** made and installed windows in our condo in ******* ** in 2022. They came with a full lifetime warranty. In January of 2024 one of the window mechanisms broke. We called the company and gave them the exact code for the window, which is affixed to the frame. They told us we would have to wait 3 months, until April 1st, to get it fixed. When the repairman showed up on April 1st the replacement window he brought was the complete wrong size. He took measurements again, and told us the company would contact us with a new "expedited" appointment time. Two weeks later we finally received a call from Milgard stating that our next appointment is scheduled for May 28th! Another 2 months wait. That's altogether FIVE MONTHS to get a repair on a warrantied window! The mistake was not ours, the company provided the wrong replacement product. We should not have to wait another two months to get our window fixed. We want our window fixed this month, April, ASAP.Business Response

I have Milgard windows throughout my home. I have had various window problems that Milgard has corrected, but the casement windows in my master bedroom has been non operational for approaching 3 years. Milgard is aware of this problem and has been to my home 6 times to repair the issue. Every time the service people arrive, they inform me that they have brought the wrong repair part, or its not going to work or they might need to replace my window. I have lifetime warranty for the windows and the parts. I continue to telephone the Milgard company by is met with negative results in any form of a answer to my question on when will a repair person arrive and repair my broken, non operational window. All I receive is the standard smoke and mirrors, spin around answers that we are working on it. This window is in a southern exposure and receives direct sunlight and I would like to enjoy the opening of the window for air. I have tipped the repair service people, they are nice, but they say they are at a lost from the way the company is treating me in the length this problem has been dragging out. I need assistance. Thank You.Business Response

Greetings and Happy Tuesday. Thank You for your assistance. I do not have any attachments or any new information that I have received from anyone from the Milgard Company. During this entire wait process, I have been the one to reach out to them and ask them (Milgard) what is the status of my window repair. I always get the smoke and mirrors answers, we are working on it. Its a shame that they have you. You pay for a good/nice product and then the follow through goes haywire. I wish to again thank you folks for assisting me. I don't know when I will be able to open my windows. It almost makes one laugh at how large/major companies have the gall to state that they have a fine product and commitment to excellence. Well I will have to wait since I am at their **** and call.
Thank You again for you help. ********************************

Purchased windows from local glass shop for our new home being built around 2012. Chose milgard after learning of lifetime warranty and custom options. 5 of the 7 windows now are cloudy between the panes, indicating failure of the ***. Local glass shop will only provide replacement if I file warranty claim through milgard. Initiated a claim 12/2023, replied with info requested by milgard in 1/2023 and have yet to hear anything 3 months later. Spent nearly $10,000 for the window and door package from the glass shop. Absolutely not happy with milgard and/or the glass shop.Business Response

I purchased a Milgard ******* sliding glass replacement door in 2017 and the internal locking mechanism as broken within the door and my door will not open. I have attempted to set up a service call per Milgard's advertised warranty, as I am the original owner of this 2017 Milgard door, but have been met with bureaucratic nonsense and a denial of the claim against my warranty. I have provided Milgard with both the detailed purchase receipt and a copy of my Pemco homeowners claim detailing the replacement of said sliding glass door with the Milgard product.
