I have purchased 2 products through their Steam Store front, that both have been unable to function due to either developer incompetence or the continuing failures of digital content. These have been noted issues, that are well documented, and that have no fix, even when seeking outside resources to find ways to fix the issue on my own. Valve/Steam do not provide ANY customer service, despite plainly stating that they take each inquiry on a "case by case" basis, yet only use automatic replies. I have attempted, multiple times, to have the developer of the games assist in a refund, but am always directed back to the Steam store, which as stated above, is non-existent and does not provide a means in which there is any oversight, or reasonable accommodations for the consumer.Initial Complaint

I purchased an online game, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, and the game would not work. I had to troubleshoot the game and follow several online tutorials to get the game to work. Then while playing the game, there were even more issues where the game would keep crashing not allowing me to advance. And then there were other major game errors/flaws that did not allow me to play the game as it was originally manufactured. I could not even get the main character to equip a lightsaber and spent several hours online just to try to get the game to work as originally intended. I then reach out to the vendor "valve corporation" for a refund which they are refusing stating that I have to much game play time to qualify for a refund. I spent way too much time on a 10 dollar game for it not to work then when I complained about it not working, to get refused a refund for a defective product.Initial Complaint

Hello,I frequently play an online game called Counter Strike: Global Offensive which has a huge online economy for skins within the game. This is all ran though the Valve Corporation's steam platform which is an online marketplace for in game items as well as games themselves. While playing on a 3rd party tournament platform someone gained access to my account and stole the items within which were valued at around 900 dollars collectively. I contacted valve support and they outlined exactly how the scam happened, step by step, but then informed me that they will not restore the items to my account in accordance with their policy. Naturally, this is very disconcerting as I do not have 900 dollars to throw around and saved for a significant amount of time to purchase these items. Although these are digital items, Valve makes money off of every trade as the entire skin economy is managed through their in house system. Aside from that, regardless of how I purchased these items, they admitted that my account was compromised in their system and will not return what was stolen. This is absolutely ridiculous. I will attach a screenshot of my support conversation with them. It's also important to note that I contacted Valve 5 times prior to them responding and they closed out all of my support tickets without a response. They only responded once I notified them I would be reporting fraud and contacting the BBB. I don't understand how they can admit that someone gained access to my account and stole the items but then not replace them? That seems unethical. I'm still awaiting another reply although something tells me I will not be hearing back judging by their willingness to help thus far.Initial Complaint

I have bought total 150+ games in Steam. So I am not just trying. I am a really customer. But when I ask refund for DLCs I dislike, Steam refused me. According to their policy, these DLCs and games are within 2 hours playing and within 14 days. They should approve. They are just making use of the monopoly.Initial Complaint

I have 4500$ worth of games hosted on the application/online store steam run by valve corp. Either this is a scam and hackers deleted my account or this is for real and valve is demanding gift cards to "verify your account". Either way I'm locked out of steam. So someone in ***** made a black market deal with someone else who the same avatar pic (4chan?) And mass reported me. He then asked me to contact ********************* of Valve software. Next thing ya know I'm stuck Permanently banned because they can't verify my account without gift cards of 450$. 10% of 4500$ over the last 6 months.Initial Complaint

Hello, I would also like to add to the case my account login which is "xforfi" and email ****************** which will be crucial for Valve and I didn't know that I will not be able to provide it later. Thank you, ***ere I would post some news that I translated from their VK.com website and in exchange I could share my promotion code that anybody code use (and also create their own as the built-in affiliate system was for every single user). I think they do not care about this at all and do not have the need to do anything about it as they rule on their service and just keep on ignoring me. This account is valuable to me personally as I have a decent amount of games, friends and items on it that I have accumulated across the time of using the account and now all these things are limited for me.After more research on what I can do with this situation I have found the ******************* and reached out to them and they tried to help out, but sadly it was out from their reach and they advised me to contact you regarding this matter as you may be able to help with this awful situation.Thank you and have a great day,****Initial Complaint

So I filed to get a refund and in 2 days time they denied me ** I played for 28 hours. With my full time job ther is no way I put in the 28 hours it said I did. I just want my money back from a broken game that wasnt ready for release. $62.30 please.Initial Complaint

On February 19th and March 17th of 2023 I purchased two separate pieces of software from Steam, a subsidiary of Valve Corporation. Last week the developers updated the software, which has rendered it not useable. The firm is refusing to issue a refund for the nonworking software. They maintain its not their fault, but the software was working before they tampered with it.Initial Complaint

I have had several issues with Valve Corporation (a.k.a Steam) within a 2 year period and I have been a member of their site. The absolute biggest are: 1) I received a Game Ban that acts as a VAC Ban. Steams support page clearly states that "It cannot prevent the user from using **********************." however that is furthest from the truth. I have multiple functions on Steam unrelated to the game in question disabled. When showing proof to ***************************** that I was not in-fact cheating and asking Valve to look into Bungie and potentially revoke access they "copy-paste" spam that they don't have the ability to remove Game Bans despite having the ability to apply them. Essentially they are claiming by these comments that steam is fully autonomous & sentient and the company has no control over anything. That's a lie, but if it was true that's incredibly dangerous. 2) Recent issue was a charge-back cause by my bank (Chase) who I will be removing as my bank soon. One day I had several duplicate charges. I asked my bank to get rid of the duplicate charges & to document our conversation. They got rid of the charges (against Chase internal rules) and did NOT document the conversation or record the call like they said. Eventually, I ended up getting banned on Steam for 15 years due to a $4.17 charge back. Keep in mind I have spent more money on my Steam account than a single support employee there makes in an entire year. Anyways, they labeled the charge-back an "excessive charge-back". How the ever loving heck is $4 excessive?!? I contacted support and they told me, despite the money no longer being in my bank yet again and sent back to Steam, that this entire process would take 2-3 months. That's absolute BS. Not even in a fantasy world does sending someone $4.17 take 3 months. 3) Steam removes all old support requests and the users no longer have access as proof. This is a recent change with no email notification. I want my issues resolved in a friendly and timely manner.
