Purchased a automatic transmission from Remanns in ****** ********* via internet. Received an standard 5 speed transmission. Tried to get corrected, tried using 1 year warrantee, tried everything to get resolved, but they do not want to do anything for me. I asked for a replacement to rectify their error, but they refuse. Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 22327780, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
With all due respect, WE DID make several attempts to get the wrong part corrected. We DID NOT WAIT until 09/16/2024 as the Engine Shoppe alleges, that was the date that after several phone calls to rectify the situation, I had to resort to telling "customer Service" that I would have to file complaints with the BBB and The State Attorney General's office. Only then were they half heartedly willing to "pretend to help me".Please keep in mind my son and I called several times in April, May, June, July trying to get this rectified, with all the phone calls a female would answer, Bridget, Helena, Susan, which all suspiciously sounded like the same person would say, "someone will call you back"......"They're not available right now", "give me you number and someone will call you"......NO ONE ever called. Finally in July my son decided to see if we could get some help by using the Warranty. My son called, spoke to Bridget, and she told him to go to the website, send photos, and the information and they will review it and SOMEONE would get back to him. Everything was done on July 17, 2024 (copy attached). By August 7th, we still hadn't heard anything back from this company. We again called, Susan said "someone will call you back", needless to say NO ONE did. August 7, 2024, my son emailed asking for an update on the request. Again, NO ONE replied.
Now this brings us to September, my sister got involved trying to see what was going on. My sister called on 9/16/2024, spoke to Bridget and explained the situation, Bridget said that "management" had made a decision and the answer was, they couldn't honor the warranty", no explanation why, it was just a no. My sister asked for them to reconsider, and explained the whole situation to Bridget who assured my sister that she (Bridget) would call her back the next day (09/17/2024) after speaking to management. September 17 came and went and NO PHONE CALL. My sister called back AGAIN on 09/18/2024, luckily Bridget answered, my sister asked Bridget what happened, she waited for the phone call and it never came. Bridget told my sister that she "hadn't heard back from management" with a response, but she would send another message to them to find out what was going on and call back. 09/19/2024 my sister called back a voice sounding like Bridget answered, when my sister said, "Hi Bridget" the voice said this is "Helena", but I can get a message to Bridget. Again, the story was given to Helena, put my sister on hold and came back and told her "Bridget" would call her back the next day. Needless to say, that never happened. On 09/24/2024, my sister called again, this time threatening to contact BBB and the Attorney General's office, and Susan opened a customer support ticket #104255 and asked that we fill it out and let them know what the problem was. We filled it out and sent it on the same day, 09/24/2024 and to this day, we have NOT heard back from anyone.
Which brings us here. Unfortunately we didn't read the reviews prior to purchasing from these people, the reviews clearly show they are a bunch of scam artists, who use fraudulent and deceptive methods to steal people's hard earned money. Please Google Remanns and check the reviews.... I have attached a few of the newest reviews. You can see them for yourself on Google.
I am asking for some type of resolution, I can't see how the BBB can allow unsuspecting consumers to be scammed by unscrupulous people.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

In may I ordered a motor from a company called quality used engines. I was told it was in stock completely gone through, cleaned and tested. I payed 1745 dollars plus 150 for shipping to my house. I was told it would take 7-10 days for shipping, after 3 weeks they emailed saying it was delayed. It took nearly 2 and half months to get the motor and when I got it, it was not at all what I was sold. It was a complete pile of junk that looked like they removed from a vehicle with a sawz-all. I refused shipment and sent back to shipper. They received the motor over a month ago and I still haven't gotten my money back.Business Response

Purchased Used engine on 02/23/24.... Engine was then installed by mechanic on 07/08/24. Engine was determined to be bad (horrible rod knock.) and I was informed. Besides start up, engine was not run. Engine was to have 40K miles on it and come with a 5yr Warranty parts/labor included.Applied for refund due to bad at startup. They refuse to pay for Labor, even though it is stated "included" on my email invoice. Since they would not pay labor to re-Install motor, I've requested a refund on my engine. This was on 7/12/24.... Applied online for refund. It's been almost a month, and I have gotten no information or follow-up. I've called 3x with no information. Last called on 07/30/24. Was told by customer service **** that QUOTE* "We have emailed to higher *** to advise?". Was short, and pretty much hung-up on me quickly.Business Response

I purchased a used engine from Engines and Transmissions last year in 2023. This engine came with a 5 yr. warranty or ****** miles. As of April 2024, I was informed by my mechanic that the used engine I purchased in 2023 was bad, Cylinder# 5 ZERO Compression. I Filed a claim with Engines and Transmission, I called them once I filed the claim and then asked the warranty department if the replacement engine came with a warranty as well. I was informed at that time it did come with a warranty. The replacement engine was shipped from S&W Engines in Cudahy, WI. *****. Once the Mechanic received the engine the engine was installed and the required documents sent over to Engine and Transmissions, which I thought was for warranty purposes. I also included the documents for the Labor Reimbursement. The first 2 weeks of the engine being installed I received an Engine check light in my car. I took my car in to the mechanics and I was informed that there were misfires in Cylinder #5 and low compression. This meant that the replacement engine was no good and needed to be replaced. I contacted the warranty department at Engines and Transmissions and I was informed that the replacement engine did not come with a warranty and that I could possibly get a refund but it may not get approved. I was told that because I filed the claim the, the replacement engine would not get replaced due to the fact that they had already honored the warranty. I did ask to speak to a manager but the warranty department informed me that there is no one above them they can forward me over to, to complain. I am now out of an Engine that cost me $2,750.00 plus my Warranty Labor Reimbursement of $1,806.77. These 2 companies, Engines and Transmission and S&W Engines do not have an escalation path or do not know how to follow up with customers. They are delaying customers refunds, these companies are bad business and I would like answers and look for my money returned to me.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
When I first called in regards to my warranty claim, I followed what I was asked to do from the Warranty Department I sent all the required fields they asked for, included all the pictures (Heat Tabs, Mileage, Diagnostic screenshot) I had 5 days to completed it and had it done in 2 days and submitted it. Once I submitted I called the Warranty Department and asked if they received my email, they responded and stated they did. I did ask the Warranty Department once they informed me they received my email, I asked them if my replacement engine will carry the 5 yr warranty, 50k. miles as my previous engine. I was informed by the Warranty Department,YES, it would, it would start over. Later in all my previous calls for the past 2 months one of the Warranty ***** **** stated NO, I was given the wrong information and they apologized. That did not sit well with me that is not how business should be done when you purchase something like this that cost me $2750.00 you would think that the warranty would cover even the replacement engine as well. To state in your policy that one warranty per transaction per only one claim is not good business. When I received the replacement engine I think I had 5 or 7 or ******************************* my car, I did follow what the terms were asked by Engines and Transmissions and submitted the pictures of , My Mileage, The Heat Tabs, Oil Change and the Diagnostic Pics. The Diagnostic test showed no errors at the time of the install after 2 weeks the replacement engine had an issue . My car displayed engine check light so I took it to the mechanic they looked at it and showed Misfire on Cylinder 5 I then took it to the dealership to have it checked and see if there were any updates on my Computer module and they stated that module was good and no updates but they did notice the engine check light and stated that Cylinder 5 Misfire and Low Compression. I did ask the Service Manager what it meant by Low Compression he stated that the Engine is your issue nothing else he stated its Internal. SO that is when I called the Warranty Department to see about getting another replacement. That was not an option according to the Warranty Department, all I was given was an answer of only one claim per purchase, the other reasons were I had 24 hrs to 48 hours to report on the replacement engine when installed, how is that possible ? I was given different answers from different Warranty **** ****. *** I wanted was to just replace the replacement engine, that was it. One of the Warranty **** **** stated I can ask for a refund but then later said that was not going to happen, it would not be approved, then why bring it up. I even asked the Warrant **** ****, I asked them all who can I speak to above you, I want to speak to Management, I was informed there was no one in Management I could speak to but everyone of of them stated when I called they would send an email to management to see about my ask even in regards to my Labor Reimbursement.
The person who responded to my complaint here, I did not know there was a **************************** weird how fast they can respond when it comes to a complaint coming from BBB. As I read their response what bugged me the most was they stated that I never included the Diagnostic Screenshot showing Low Compression. My answer to that response is that your Warranty Department did not ask for me to send them that screenshot all they would say to me was, you cannot put in another claim on a replacement engine, only one claim per purchase, they never once asked me for the diagnostic of the Low Compression. In my opinion, if they would have asked for one then they would have had to honor my replacement of the replacement engine.
As for your policy for Labor Reimbursement that is a joke on the price of only $290 for 5.8 hours of work and it has taken you over 2 months to get an approval but now since I have reported this to BBB now you are informing me and the BBB that you submitted a check and yet I have yet to receive a call from your company telling me it has been approved.
Also the cost to put in an engine especially in **. the mechanics and shops normally charge between $1800 to $4500 to install an engine. It cost me $1650 to have them take out my warranty engine and install the replacement engine this took 3 days to have it completed and you are only going to give me $290.00 Unacceptable, bad business and I am out not only $2750.00 + $1650.00 yet I still have a Faulty replacement engine.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Engine and Transmission World Incorrect Product Delivery and ********************* Dear Sir/Madam,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Engine and Transmission World (EATW), located at ************************************, for their failure to deliver the correct product as purchased and their subsequent lack of response to resolve the issue. On May 23, 2024, I purchased a used transmission for my Jeep Patriot from EATW. The transaction was smooth, and the item was shipped to my mechanic within the expected timeframe. However, upon inspection a few days after receipt, my mechanic discovered that the transmission provided was incorrect for my vehicle model. This error has resulted in significant inconvenience and financial loss.Despite multiple attempts by both my mechanic and myself to contact EATW through emails and phone calls over the past month, our efforts to resolve this matter have been met with silence. No replacement part has been shipped, nor have we received any communication indicating a willingness to rectify the situation. The financial impact of this error is substantial. I am currently out nearly $3,000, without a functioning vehicle, and my mechanic has incurred losses due to the space the car occupies in his garage, which could otherwise be used for servicing other vehicles.I had hoped to resolve this matter directly with EATW, but their lack of response has left me with no choice but to seek assistance from the BBB. My preference is to avoid legal action due to the logistical challenges of pursuing a suit from ************ against a company based in *********. However, I am prepared to consider this option if necessary.I respectfully request the BBB's intervention to facilitate a resolution. Ideally, I would like EATW to:Ship the correct transmission for my Jeep Patriot at no additional cost.I have attached copies of all relevant documentation, including the purchase receipt.Sincerely,***************************Business Response

The complainant purchased a used engine on 05/14/2024 and is requesting a refund.
The complainant purchased a used engine on 05/14/2024 and the engine shipped out on 06/10/2024. The complainant alleges that the engine was garbage as it smokes.
After review, we would ask that the complainant have the engine ready for pickup and call us to have the engine picked up, and once it is returned, we can inspect it and issue a refund.
Sincerely,

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Please type your response here.] We will pull the motor & prep for pickup on your dime we are already over $3,000 dollars in the hole on the engine swap. I called prior to installation after the mechanic contacted me saying, there is metal & water in the oil pan before it was being installed. Your company's response was it has to be installed to prove there is an issue with the motor for the warranty to be submitted. Which makes no sense when we contacted to tell you the motor was junk before the motor was installed wasting our money and the mechanics time. So, the only way to make this right is a full refund plus the labor for removing & installing another because. 1) ********* was obviously not run through your inspection process like your company claims to do on all motors. 2) If that was performed the motor would have never been sent out once they dropped the oil pan seeing metal and coolant mixed with the oil. Invoice was sent prior for the swapping out of the motor, all cost should be on Sw engines for having us install there provided product when a mechanic tried heading all this off before installation. Thanks ****

The company is called SW engines and their address on their reviews for their site is the address for this business. I bought an engine from them in march and found that the engine has a bad timing chain I paid about $2200 for the engine. They have a 5 year ***** mile warranty and so I called to make a warranty claim they then gave me 5 days to turn in information or my warranty was voided. I turned it in and they have been messing around for 2 months now.i turned it in on may 26th. They said they would issue a credit for the repair and then said theyre only covering parts and another person said theyd cover parts AND repairs. They keep saying they will call back and never due and have been waiting almost 2 months now for my refund to take place.Business Response

I purchased a used engine from Quality Used Engines. They told me they test each engine before selling them making sure they work. The first engine shipped was diagnosed from the shop with no compression in the cylinders. It had a cracked upper and lower intake. I filed a claim for a refund. Upon filing a claim I received a call from a *****************. He apologized for sending the bad motor stating he doesn't know how that happened. He told me he had another motor in stock. He said he would send pictures and guaranteed the engine would be good. I agreed being I had already invested a lot of money for parts and labor. I received the 2nd engine. The mechanic could not get the engine to start. Once again I had to have my Jeep towed to get diagnosed. This time I was told there were metal shavings in the oil, meaning the pistons were bad. Another bad engine. I've reached out to Quality Used Engines. I asked for the entire refund for the engine and the installation fees. They the warranty does not cover install. I never received a a working engine. I've been waiting over a week for them to set up a pick up for the 2 bad engines in my garage with no results. I've called them for the last 5 days with no pick up date. I was told I would not get the refund for the engine until they received the 2 engines back. Yet I've been waiting on them. The engine cost me $2850 with a $150 delivery fee. The installation was $1500 for each installation making it $3000. This is not included parts, rentals and the burden of stress for the last 2 months. I m not at fault. This company is for selling faulty engines and I want all of my money back.Business Response

The complainant purchased a used engine and is requesting a refund plus installation costs.
The complainant purchased a used engine on 04/01/2024 and the engine shipped out on 04/10/2024. The complainant alleges that the engine had no compression. We did send out a replacement engine to the complainant, but they also allege that the replacement engines pistons were bad, and the engine was not useable.
After review, we would need to schedule to have both engines picked up and evaluated before a refund can get processed. We would ask that the complainant please try to reach out to us again to schedule the pickup.
Sincerely,
