      this bank fumbled a $100 atm withdraw on a weekday and refuses to give it to me even though it was an error in their system. occurred on a weekday during business hours and 24 hours later it is still not resolved. this could happen to you. what if it was $1000 or even $10000? if you can't trust them handling a $100 withdraw, how can you trust them with your life savings? look for another bank.

      My car payment is due on the 5th of the month so for January payment, I tried to submit payment in Jan 1st and again on Jan 2nd but got a ‘Submission Error, try back later’ both days. So I tried again and was successful on Jan 5th, even received the confirmation email. On Jan 16th, I noticed my payment had not cleared my primary bank account. So after logging back into my Associated Bank account, my payment had been reversed on Jan 9th with no notification. But included a $16.08 late fee. I called customer service on the 16th and the 17th and they could not tell my why the payment was reversed but I would not be charged a late fee. So made another payment on 17th, received the confirmation email on the 17th as well and it was finally posted on the 19th. Absolutely unacceptable that they can reverse a payment, with no notification and still hit you with a late fee. Furthermore, my last call, the customer service person was very adamant that I confirm the present location of the car as a “security question” for my account. She would not accept me confirming the home address on the account. Clearly part of their ‘no payment’ process to know where the car is located. I will never recommend anyone doing business with Associated Bank and have mentioned this to the dealership I bought the car from so they will hopefully future car buyers don’t run into the same issue. But more importantly I have a great credit score and in close to 30 years, I’ve never had a late payment on my credit. So it remains to be seen if my credit score will take a hit do to this payment reversal issue.

      This bank is awful to deal with. Trying to make payments on your loans is horrible and ridiculous. You can't make any additional principal payments on your loans unless you call into the bank every single time and specify that you want the additional payment amount being applied to PRINCIPAL. If you don't specify to have it applied to principal or attempt to do it online they automatically apply it to "future" monthly payments and NOT 100% toward the principal balance (which defeats the purpose on making additional principal payments on the loan). Only way to get it corrected is to call into the bank EVERY single time. When you call in only about 50% of the time do you get someone that even understands how loans actually work and what the difference is between principal and interest. In addition, their online website is horrible. You will get locked out of logging into their online system on a regular basis and have to call in and have them "re-open" your online access. Another road block to getting them to take your monthly payments or being able to make additional principal payments to pay down your loan quicker. Suggest NEVER NEVER using this bank. By far the worse banking experience and unethical business practices.

      Their website is horrible, every time I go to pay online is says error and I have to call. Its like they want you to default on your loan because its such a hassle! Avoid getting an auto loan from them at all costs.

      The worst of yesterday and tomorrow all at once. Just trying to make a payment is ridiculous. The website is something out of a 1990's 9th grade class project yet they have wasted no time adopting a time consuming faceless non helpful phone system of the future that other giant companies that don't care about customer service have as well. My car dealer hooked me up with this clown show because it would save me like 4 or 5 dollars a month, what a mistake. I would gladly surrender the extra 5 bucks to avoid the time wasting aggravation of this nonsense every month. Man if you can avoid this outfit and do business with a real bank you should.

      AVOID AT ANY COST!! Do not do business with this company!! This business cares only about money and definitely not about their customers or customer satisfaction. For 5 months I have had to call every time to get them to take any step to move the process forward. My son totaled the car after one payment. They received their money/payoff asap. I on the other hand have been waiting 2 months for them to send me my refund. They said it would take 60 days in the mail. Apparently they use a different system other than the USPS. First, they sent the wrong amount so they had to send a second check. They also sent me a letter about the status of my accounts because although they received almost the entire payoff (paid years in advance) they claimed I was late making a payment when there was $200 remaining. All 3 items were mailed in December. I have yet to receive even their letter, let alone the refund checks. I’ve called multiple times and filled out customer complaints but now that they have their money they are no longer responding or letting me speak with a manager. They keep saying that the checks should be there 7-10 business days and possibly up to 15. Well it’s been over 15 business days and still nothing. I’m wondering if they ever even sent it out as they claimed. My credit score went down 40 points because of the “late” payment. I am SO FED UP with this company. I need this money to support my son who was in the hospital for over a month and needs continued physical care and treatment! They don’t care!! I will never work with them again and I suggest you avoid them as well!!

      Garbage bank! I wish I vould give negative stars!! I helped my daughter open an account because she's 16. They knew this was only her money and her account. Yet right before Xmas the wi dept revenue steals all of her money because I had an old debt? Instead of the bank being loyal to the customer they take all the $ and charging her overdraft and legal fees. No surprise though, the government has a history of stealing from native Americans. Just disappointing she has to live thru this mess. I've had bank accounts for years and nothing but within 60 days of helping her all of a sudden the irs is stealing her money and the bank says it's because I'm the co-owner. My advice is use chime or greendot as they won't steal your money

      Pretty much agree with everyone else. This bank ** ***** and should be avoided. My situation involves delaying the delivery of time sensitive mail (which is a felony) and bank fees being charged to my account without authorization or justification.
      Can't believe BBB gives them an A+ rating when their customer review rating is 1.21/5.
      They are the Joe ***** of the banking industry, "my way or the highway" approach.

      Closed my account on me without any reason, but that I agreed to the deposit agreement. I called and talked to several people and even my local branch. Nothing but same answer that they are closing it based on deposit agreement. I just wanted clarification, but didn’t get it. I don’t overdraw my account and have my payroll deposited weekly. I am sad and upset at the same time. I would recommend using another institution.

      Beware of Associated bank Very Rude executive staff. I received a letter informing me that Associated bank is changing it's routing number in September 2022. What does this mean? Every customer will have to change every account tied to Associated bank (Venmo, Electric, cell bills, Gas bills, IRS refunds, Paypal, Ebay, Zelle, etc) . When contacted, management has no idea the major inconvenience this will/would cause. Customers will have to contact every payment partner and manually change the routing number, I they don't, their auto pay will not take place, deposits will not be received . When I expressed this concern to management in Green Bay, they didn't care one bit and were extremely rude and just told me that their customers would just to "DEAL WITH IT"...if you didn't like it...find another Bank. I've been with Associated bank for over 20+ years and up until today have never been treated this RUDELY. My account is now closed! Rude people, especially upper corporate management….They are very inconsiderate. BEWARE: If you do any electronic banking with Associated Bank, you are in for a RUDE awakening in Sept 2022. AVOID ASSOCIATED BANK at all costs!!
