less than 1 year ago i spent almost $600 on a toro recycler lawn mower, with a briggs and stratton motor.. within 2 months i had to replace the pull cord assembly.. for some reason these cheap people thought it was ok to put plastic parts under the mower deck.. needless to say broken.. some random spring popped off.. the heat shield fell off. the oil spout broke off the cover to the engine broke.. the cables are loose. had to fix the mechanism for the self-propulsion system. oh yeah and the latest it just wants to spew out white smoke.. oh and the motor is loose.. i dont think ********** put it together well. might have to bring awareness to that.. anyways im sick of how cheap america has become.. the greed.. no pride in work.. its all about cutting costs. well i need to cut some costs.. i want my $600 and a new mower.. A ***** would be much betterBusiness Response

At this moment we can not honor the customer's request. It was less than 2 weeks before the customer received his unit back repaired. We will not be offering an extension on this mower as the factory warranty is good for 3 years from the date of purchase to the original purchaser.Initial Complaint

Was given a Toro recycler push mower ($500) with Briggs and Stratton engine as a gift from my parents in dec 2020. Used the mower spring 2021 and noticed oil being pushed through air filter. Engine was never over filled with oil. I replaced air filter and issue continued. Used mower for the spring and summer since I had no other mower. Contacted Toro and was told I need to bring it to an authorized toro service location for warranty claim. Brought mower to local authorized service center in October 2021. Service **** replaced engine parts and continued to get oil through air filter when they tested it, so it never left the service center. I Was told the engine is back ordered every month since October 2021. Recently told by service tech that Briggs and Stratton might replace the motor if it becomes available in November 2022 but is doubtful. Will be One full year from the time I brought the mower in for warranty repair with no resolution. Not able to communicate with anyone from Briggs and Toro says its not their problem. ********** says not their problem. $500 of my parents money wasted since the gift they gave is in pieces with no definite solution from Briggs. Complaint is for Toro and Briggs and Stratton.Business Response

The customer's ********************** & ********************** engine carries a warranty that is good for a time frame 2 years from the date of purchase by the first retail consumer The warranty covers against manufacturing defects and/or workmanship of the engine. It does not cover damage caused by improper use or abuse, improper maintenance or repair, normal wear and tear, stale or unapproved fuel or debris in the fuel. The customer's engine was inspected by an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer as well as the Briggs & Stratton area representative. The engine was dismantled and the pictures were also reviewed by a Briggs & Stratton engine specialist. All inspectors agreed, the engine displayed all indications that it had been run hot with insufficient lubrication and warranty coverage was denied. Because the customer drained any oil from the engine prior to taking the engine to the service dealer for inspection, Briggs & Stratton was not able to verify the amount or condition of the existing oil. Therefore, Briggs & Stratton has agreed to give the customer the benefit of the doubt and replace the engine as a one time customer goodwill concession. The customer is responsible for transporting the unit back to the service dealer for the engine replacement.Initial Complaint

My 3rd season of using my Briggs & Stratton powered Snapper lawn tractor, model ST1942, B&G engine model EX1900. Tractor has ONLY done 34 hours in this time. Recently began having starting issues, where engine would clunk and not turn over. Tried to resolve issue by contacting Snapper, but you can only get service agent phone numbers, nothing else and cant talk to anyone. Tried contacting all service dealers given to me that were close by, up to 50 miles and none would help with Snapper/Briggs & Stratton issues. Then became aware of all B&G issues over the last few years and understood what was going on with service agents etcClunk issue became more frequent, checked battery, all good, had a new starter fitted, no difference. Oil levels all good. Eventually got it started yesterday and was mid cutting when the engine gave out and started blowing oil everywhere. Luckily was close to garage and just drove it straight back in. So, obviously no one will help with this even bigger issue, if they wouldnt help with starting problems. What recourse do I have now? Dont want to go down legal route, but I guess I will if I have too. Thank you.Business Response

We have contacted the customer and discussed the warranty coverage and procedure as follows: the customer's ********************** & ********************** engine carries a warranty that is good for a time frame of 3 years from the date of purchase by the first retail consumer and covers against manufacturing defects and/or workmanship of the engine. It does not cover damage caused by improper use or abuse, improper maintenance or repair, normal wear and tear, stale or unapproved fuel, or debris in the fuel. The unit must be inspected by an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer for any warranty determination. If it is believed that the unit is eligible for a warranty repair, the unit must be presented, along with the original proof of purchase, to a local authorized Briggs and Stratton dealer for a warranty diagnosis. The customer may be asked for a deposit to cover the cost of the analysis. If a manufacturing defect is found the deposit will be reimbursed. The customer has agreed to have the engine inspected by an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer for warranty determination. There an approximate 3 week lead time at the dealership. Once the dealer has completed the diagnostic report Briggs will review for next steps.Initial Complaint

I bought a pressure washer with a Briggs & Stratton engine from Menards in ******* *********. I used it 2 times and now it will not start. If you call the warranty number it leads you to authorized dealers. I have been to the authorized dealers and they will not work on it because they did not sell it. It was purchased 5/29/22 and broke 6/12/22. I have tried to resolve the issue with Menards but just get the runaround like Briggs is giving me.Business Response
