      Hi,

Im having MET Credit reach out to me and saying I owe a payment from 11 + years ago with ****** and demanding I pay. First off, my credit score is excellent and I have all ******* showcasing that this file was paid and closed on the consumer expense. I have told them to stop harassing me - its apparently for 158.00 and they have called dozens of times and left shady text messages.

I looked up the rules and regulations and creditors need to go about a legal way of telling me who I owe and what I owe they did not follow any of this. Speaking on a file that is over 11+ years old I am deeply concerned as to why ****** is still bothering me.

      ******,

I have reviewed your complaint. ****** has assigned your
file to collections. Regardless of date of debt they continue to exercise their
      rights to collect unpaid debt.
MetCredit is only the agent of ******, and your concerns and
complaint really should be addressed to them and not our office.

I received several text message from this company that I owe money. I never received a letter. I used to receive calls and a robotic voice told me to press one to resolve my issue when I pressed one no one answered and the line was disrupted but I would get a text message shortly after. The text message gives me a file number and a link which I can click to pay my outstanding payment. I do not even know who I owe money. Please excuse that I won’t call you back but this all is very suspicious to me.

      Complaint: 19996416

I am rejecting this response because:

After filing my original complaint I received a call from an actual person who left a  call back number that did not work. I listen to the voicemail a few times and tried several combination for the number. I then called the general number listed on your website and with my name and my mobile number they were able to find me. (My name is unique) I do not feel comfortable giving out my address as I am still not sure if this is a legit claim you have or a spam. The way you have approached me, automated calls and text messages makes me believe this is a ****. You should have my address on file because somebody contacted you who i apparently own money to. I told the lady the same and asked her who I owe money to, to check myself and if that is true to of course pay you and resolve the issue. I was told without me giving you my home address she is not allowed to give me these information. She told me that a letter was send to me on the 29th of April. I still did not receive said letter. As far as I know I am entitled to a letter stating who I owe money, the amount and from when and I was told that such a letter is sent out by collection agencies before contacting people by phone. Also I did receive phone calls from the 780 number you mention in your response but every time I answer there was only silence and nobody spoke to me.

I am happy to provide you my home address or confirm it if you could please give me a good reason. As I mentioned above you should be able to find my case by looking up my name and mobile number. In case you need it again it is *** *******. I also kindly ask you to send me a letter I am entitled to so I know you do have an actual claim against me and this is not a ****. I am sorry for causing so much trouble but again the way I was so far approached does not make me believe you and your claim are legit.

      Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

      Dear MetCredit

And I am a person who got ****med before. As mentioned before your way of approaching me has been not very professionally in my opinion. The calls I currently receive I only know it is you because of the number you provided me. The robotic voice answering does not even say who they are calling from but just ask me to press 1 which I will not cause I am still not sure of you are a real company or not. Anyway as mentioned in my previous response I am happy to resolve the issue and here is what I suggest:

Have an actual person call me to confirm my address. Let me know what address you have on file and I will be happy to let you know if that is my correct mailing address. If I do not answer my phone please leave a call back number that works and I am gladly call you back. Once we confirmed my current mailing address please send me a letter with all the details who I owe money so that I myself can double check. Once I checked and I owe you money I will gladly pay you.

      Sincerely,

These idiots robocall me at least 5 times a week. I do not owe any debts to anyone and they do not say my name in the robocall. I do not want this spam on my phone anymore. Metcredit has collected a “debt” off of me and made a derogatory mark on my credit report for a debt I dispute I have. Maple Leaf appliances was supposed to provide me a service and they did not. They billed me anyways and the next day I responded to their text invoice saying they provided no such service and I would not pay their fictitious invoice. These companies are being underhanded and using my credit report to coerce me into paying a bill I never should have received

have investigated your allegations of Prohibited Practices, under the Business
Practices and Consumer Protection Act, s.116 (“BPCPA”) and concluded the
      following:

      MetCredit
has been attempting to contact you at ************, regarding a matter in our
      office needing your attention.

      Our first
attempt to contact you at ************ was on January 4, 2023, subsequently we
      made additional attempts on:

      January 10,
      2023
      January 17,

      April 4,
      2023

      On April 4,
2023 our office placed a call to you at ************ which is your place of employment,
we were able to speak with you directly. On this call you indicated that you did
not have time to talk, you also mentioned that the phone number where we have
been calling and leaving messages ************** was not your number. You then
provided an alternative contact number of ************, and indicated this was
the best number to reach you.

      As Section

      information,
      (b)the collector has attempted
to contact the debtor at the home address, telephone number or electronic mail
address that the collector has for the debtor, but the collector has not
contacted the debtor in any of those attempts, or
      (c)the collector has been
authorized by the debtor to communicate with the debtor at the debtor's place
      of employment.

      Based on
section 116 of the BPCPA we have determined our agent has not breached any
      prohibited practices.

During your conversation with our agent on
April 4, 2023 you indicated that phone number ************ was a good contact
number for you, however, the contact information you submitted to the ***

I was sent to a collections agency (MetCredit) after winning a credit card dispute with a business that failed to deliver a product I purchased within a 30 day time frame as stated by the Consumer Protection Act in that province. I have sent a debt verification letter to MeCredit as well as a letter stating that I want to be contacted on writing ONLY and mailed directly to my address. However, I’m still receiving harassing emails from this collection agency a full month after sending out my demand that I only want to be contacted in writing. Additionally, MetCredit has failed to verify the alleged debt and this could negatively impact my credit if It has not already. This is astounding as they are pursuing me for a debt I do not owe after winning a credit card dispute for “products not delivered”. How can a business pursue me for a product I never legally received after a card issuer and financial institution sided with me? This is not conducting business in good faith and no one should have to deal with a business fraudulently demanding money for products that have not been received by using collection agencies to damage personal financial/credit standing. My letters were sent out on March 4, 2023, delivered on March 8, 2023 and my last email from the agency was on March 29, 2023.

I am rejecting this response because: Consumer Protection Legislation states all products must be delivered within 30 days of transaction date. There are no terms and conditions that over rule this legislation. The card network sided with me in this dispute and I have documentation to support this. The reason for me winning said credit card dispute is “product not received”.

My manager got a call from met credit. That said I owed money or something or the sort. She made me aware of the situation. This file was opened up due to an outstanding bill and dispute with the cell phone service provider ****, which I will also be filing another separate complaint about this issue. This whole situation is not my fault. I have acknowledged this bill with this company METCREDIT and I have also made an attempt to give them a small payment which is all I can afford right now due to the fact that I am on a medical disability with the Canadian government and I have very low income on a monthly basis. This company is stating that this payment I have made is not enough and that they are charging me 42% interest on this account which is rapidly increasing and in my opinion; an outrageous and greedy amount of money to tack on to my existing debt. My question is to you, is this even legal to be charging an interest rate that high?, After I have contacted them and made an attempt to offer some payment? I feel that they are constantly harassing me with phone calls and emails in a very threatening nature.
Why should this account be charging 42% interest on an account that has been acknowledged by me? I don't agree with this. Can you help me with this matter???

I found out through a denied loan agent that I had an account in collections that I was unaware of. Through some research I found out it was a ***** account from 2015 with an original balance of 815$. The account was apparently sent to MET collections agency. They are now trying to say I have to pay $2862 dollars. They claim the extra fees are standard fees and interest yet the gov of Canada website says that debt collectors cannot add collection related fees to costs.

I was completely unaware of this debt as the account has been closed for years. I have been unable to obtain any documentation showing what the original balance was even for. I received no letters in the mail/email. This is affecting my credit as well as my lending ability. I would have no issue paying the original balance of 815$ to resolve this and clear the negative collections on my credit bureau report however MET seems unwilling to accept this payment

MetCredit texts me AND calls me at least once every day for debts that are almost 10 years old. No idea how they even got my phone number, I want them to stop calling me and if there is an outstanding debt, would appreciate if goodwill forgiveness was applied so I can move on with my life.

I am rejecting this response because I am not dealing with it  You’ve been calling me for four years and you’re harassing me  I don’t owe any money to anyone, anything I have outstanding is from more than 7-9 years ago  Stop calling me

      Sincerely,
