I received a letter from VERITAS Alliance Inc. saying I owe $11,231.88, but their settlement offer is only $4,492.75 ! Due Sept.29/23
For their client *****.
I have NEVER had a ***** account! They say this is a special promotional offer, etc.,payable at any ** bank branch via cash or certified funds.

I have just finished a bankruptcy, and my debt trustees had NEVER seen or heard of this on ANY of my documents. They did full credit checks. I will soon have my Discharge papers.
We've never heard of them.

This company Veritas Alliance INC has contacted me about an account that is supposedly in collections.
The account in question dated in their letter for Sept 15th 2023 states that I have an outstanding debt which was purchased from *** ********** ******** *** **********.
Their letter claims to represent *** They also claim to be authorized agent for the above noted client *** *********** and ***.
I contacted *** my account with them is in good standing and it continues to be open at ***. They deny any company acting on their behalf concerning this account.
I checked my ******* file and as of today this account is also in good standing with them, dated as of today Sept 18 2023. It also notes I have NO DELINQUENCIES and NO DEBT pertaining to this account.
I ask that VERITAS:
1) recheck their info
2) send me a copy of the original contract showing the debt due
3) Only communicate in writing
I will provide the necessary documentation should you require that. However please make that request in writing ONLY and i will respond only after the requested documentation has been presented.Business Response

3) The full account number in question. If this is an old account in order to find it with ***, you must provide the FULL account number. This way I can have *** search this. If unable to provide this I cannot and will not be able to respond.
4) When this debt supposedly took place?

I am rejecting this response because: Your company is claiming that I owe a debt and you are also claiming to be a " duly authorized agent" for both *** and *** ***********. If you are in fact an agent the onus is yours. You should contact whomever contacted you. I am not the one to do your work for you. It is absurd that you would even suggest it. Your company should have a contact for both, and if not both one or the other *** and/or *** ***********. Please make contact with them and perform the necessary investigation you are referring to. If you are unable to find this debt I asked again that you cease contact.

I am rejecting this response because: As per my previous correspondence the responsibility is yours to show evidence of the debt owed, If your client will not provide you with that old debt or not the onus is on you to get that proof. As you previously mentioned with lack of proof you will further reduce the debt owed. With lack of proof there is no debt owed. The responsibility is yours to provide that. As stated previously, I have contacted *** and they have advised that there is no debt owed from me in the account number you provided old or new or in any account number on their records. This is their collections department and the regular credit dept. They have searched all records for my name on any collection file old or new. Further to that they have let me know I am in good standing with them and have been.At this point I believe we are going back and forth. My stance is that you provide me with evidence of the debt from the client you represent, I will not pay a fee to have you look for a debt that you claim to be collecting on. Furthermore if there is a debt which you have failed to prove there is, the statute of limitations is 2 years ,as I'm sure you are aware.. So if you are trying to indicate the debt was from 2009 that time has passed.
You have not effectively been able to prove a debt exists the company you allegedly represent have indicated there is no debt owed now or previously. My suggestion to you is that you cease and desist contact and close the file and send a letter to that effect via this service or you have the option to take the matter to court.

I have received repeated letters from Veritas Alliance indicating the *** ********** has forwarded a collection to their agency in the amount of ($3,790.54) for an unpaid balance. I have not had a *** ** since 2009 and had no balance at that time. The most recent letter (Sept 15) indicated that the actual amount was $7,581.07 and the "settlement offer" was $3,790.
I contacted *** ********** on Sept 18 and they have no record of my account. Further, they do NOT refer to Veritas Agency for collection.Business Response

Veritas has been calling me for over 6 years for collections for a man with a Russion sounding name. I suspect he had my phone number before I got it. I've told them numerous times that I don't know him as I'm the only owner of *** ********. Personally I don't owe any money to anyone. They still call me for this man. I'm fed up as they won't stop. 6 years is beyond tolerance and is abusive. Please can you stop them.Business Response

I am receiving daily calls from this business. We obtained this cell phone number from Telus about a year ago, I assume it must have belonged to someone else before. Currently, this is a confidential company cellphone, on a do not call list.
I am not sure what this is about but we do not answer calls on this phone outside of company calls. Please stop calling this number. Thank you.
