April 5th, 2023 is when I first started receiving calls from this company. I have had this phone number for over a year. Legally, in the state of Ontario you can only call 3 times in a 7 day period. These people however are calling me 5-6 times in a 7 day period since this started. However, I am NOT the person who they are trying to get ahold of. I have spoke to FOUR people now to remove me from their lists. And each time I have received a different excuse as to why I'm still on their call list.
'It takes 4-5 business days to be removed'
'I see no notes on here that you've talked to anyone'
'There are multiple accounts under that name with this phone number'
Just STOP calling me.

I have been receiving multiple calls a week from Veritas asking for someone who is not myself. Im given the option of pressing 1 is I’m the named person or 2 if not. I have repeatedly pressed 2 and am typically met with endless hold music or, if answered, I ask to have my number removed but yet I am still receiving calls.Business Response

We keep getting calls from the collection agency. We have asked that our number be removed, keep getting 7-8 calls a day. I have a individual in my home that is disabled, and these phone calls are very annoying.
All we ask is to have our number and name removed from the claim. If this continues we will take this to the police and report this as **********.Business Response

This company is attempting to **** money out of me. They've contacted me non-stop about some non-existent debt that they are trying to collect from me. They claim the debt is from the credit card from my bank, but I've reached out to my bank and they state there is no record whatsoever of sending my debt to a collection agency and I am, in fact, not behind on any payments. They went so far as to file a collection report with ********** and *******, which I have promptly contacted to inform that it is not real and they've confirm this with me and opened an investigation to get the reports removed.
This company uses scare tactics – including constant phone calls *** ********** – to ***** people into thinking they owe debt and send them money without doing any due diligence.Business Response

Veritas has been calling me constantly for over a year, with two options, "press 1 if this is you" or "press 2 is this is not you", regardless of the option I am never able to get in contact with anyone. I had called them back and I only hear music playing. I have my most recent credit report as of today and there are no outstanding collections, I have no bankruptcy or outstanding debts, consolidated debt. However for some reason Veritas Alliance keeps calling me. This is against the law in Ontario under the consumer protection act. I want them to stop harassing me if there is no reason or ability to get in touch with them.Business Response

Since February 10, 2023 I have been getting collection calls for someone named ******. I have had my phone number for almost 10 years and I am clearly not ******. The calls come from 1 ***** ********.
There is an option to 'press 2 if this is not you' which I have done and still received calls.
February 10: 2 calls; 1 call per day February 14, 15, 16 (2 calls), I pressed 2 or missed their calls.
I have pressed option 1 to speak to someone and when I get through, have asked them to remove me from their list as they have the wrong number.
Over the last 3 days, I have tracked the calls:
Feb 21, 2023
8:52am: press 2 to speak to someone, confirm I am not this person; request to remove me from the list, employee confirms this will be done.
11:15 - press 2 to speak to someone and my call goes to vm (voicemail)
12:24 - missed call from Veritas
1:50 - auto message to call them back at 1-************
3:10 - press 2; goes to v/m
Feb 22:
2:29 - press 2 if it isn’t you; I am put on hold; I hung up at 2:33pm
2:43: automated message to call them at 1-************
Feb 24
11:14 - press 2; hold music; 11:19: my call is 'answered', I hear people in the background and they hang up on me without saying anything.Business Response

Got a call a few days (feb 7th or so) ago looking for ****** ******* ignored it as it did not pertain to me, also the number came up as potential *****. I then saw an uptick in calls from numbers I do not recognize, and each one came up as potential ***** or **** with no legible message. In an effort to stop the calls, I looked up one of the numbers and sent an email a few days ago, stating I am not ****** and not to call on my number again. But then days after this request I find in another email in my ****/**** folder an email, alleging some debt (case *******), this makes no sense to me.
First initial contact was for another person, and now the issue is mine and I need to pay. What is going on here? I checked my credit report on a credit app, and saw nothing. And the amount makes 0 sense, since I never had a card that had a credit balance that high. And since I did not see it on my credit report app, this alleged debt would be outside the 2 year limitations of actions period, and i reserve my right to use the expiry as a defense.
And also the email sent did not have the correct mailing address.
It just doesn't add up, Something suspicious and ****-like seems to be going on here and I would like it to stop, fix this alleged debt situation and make it go away.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I click reject only because I do not fully accept the response, and this way discussion can continue. Discussion of alleged debt and settlement offer is made without prejudice and I reserve right to use expiry of limitations period.
Firstly I should mention, because of certain health conditions it is very difficult to speak on the phone for more than a couple minutes, though I do appreciate the offer to discuss more info because I do have questions/concerns about the alleged amount and wish to ensure any settlement offer is within my means. To accommodate the health problem, it would be better via email or to just continue through this method. Though sending emails to the generic contact email I had used before, does not appear to illicit a response, so currently choosing this method to continue communication on alleged debt and potential settlement.
I have looked over the numbers given in attached documents and my own records, andsomething is not adding up to me. based on the alleged original debt of 7,636 and given interest of 24.99% over the expected timeline of about 6 years (last time I had business with bmo cc was in about 2017) for the alleged debt that would put the total at 19 086.66 (+/- a month or 2 interest) and not 28 011.26. Looks to me like additional charges were tacked on to inflate the alleged amount, when to my understanding additional charges and amounts cannot be added to the original amount, based on rules of collection, except interest as per original agreement and interest amount given does sound right for a credit card.
With this being said, I would like to put forward an offer that is in line with that number (19 086), and that is within my means.
Like the original offer this is to settle in full and a full and final release issued to me and In addition, your credit bureau will be updated to reflect this account
status as “Settled in Full” as per Credit Bureau reporting guidelines. (all these points are mandatory to me)
Amount offered: 11 500This About 60% of the amount from my calculated 19 086.66 that seems correct amount to me, just so you know how I got to this amount, though would be about 45% of the alleged amount.
Please in a timely manner, (to give me appropriate time to consider options). Let me know if this is an acceptable amendment to the original offer, for full clearance as described above, and send an appropriate document showing the settlement amount (like the SIF letter sent already in this communication).Though I do wish to state, I do appreciate the offer to settle the alleged debt for a lower amount and this is me taking it under consideration.
hopefully we can resolve this matter in a timely and amicable way
Sincerely,
******* ******Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Please note I only click reject again to ensure this line of communication stays open, And I want to ensure all things are complete with settlement of alleged before before being 100% satisfied.
I appreciate the offer and do find the amount of $11,380.25 to be acceptable settlement of the alleged debt; so long as I receive a letter for this amount that also states that the file will be closed as settled in full and a full and final release sent to me (though does not seem you have my mailing address, and BBB does not want me to give out personal identifying information in responses; so look like release letter may need to be sent via this forum) and reporting to credit bureau that this is settled in full as per reporting guidelines.
I just want to ensure this is a full settlement and I will never have to deal with this alleged debt again.
Also I wanted to make sure nothing would go wrong should I get the letter and make payment, I was double checking payment methods as described in the first sif sent. And Veritas Alliance is not showing up as a payee through my Canadian bank (which your letter states is an option from any Canadian bank). Which causes me some concern about being able to pay should the agreement be made, and online bill payment would be easiest and most efficient. E-transfer would require multiple transfers over 2 weeks since the weekly limit is 10k and 3k daily, which with the timeline and delays in response could pose an issue.
Sincerely,
******* ******Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Clicking on reject since there will be 1 last step before I am satisfied.
Thank you for clarification on payment methods. I figured it out because of that. Also please note payment is made without prejudice and in agreement with settlement in full letter sent. I have made the payment, and have attached the payment confirmation from when I paid, With a block out block out of my private account information.
Since I know it can take some time for the credit bureau portion to show, once I receive the full and final release as per sif letter I will be able to end this complaint in good faith as satisfied.
