These *********** people keep calling me, leaving voicemails, and changing the numbers they call from. They ask for someone named Phil who is not me. When I finally answered, the prompt says to "press 2 if you are not Phil ___", which I did. How are these people still allowed to operate?Business Response

Veritas called me quite.a few times in 2021. Eventually I answered, they were looking for a gentlemen named ***** ******* - I assume he had the phone number I now hold prior to me having it. I told them that’s not me, they said he owes them money and I said fair but I don’t know this person. They asked if I had his address or real phone number I said no. They asked me to add him on ******** and I said no. The calls stopped.
Now 2023, they call me anywhere from 1-20 times a day. Sometimes hours between calls sometimes seconds, literally seconds between calls. This is harassment and if it doesn’t stop I’ll call the police. I don’t know who it is they’re looking for and they need to stop. I’ve clocked them but today alone they left 5 voicemails.Business Response

Non stop harassment calls looking for someone else. I have had the same number it is 7 years. Not sure where they got my number or why they are looking for someone else after 7 years. Over the past few months, we have gotten at least one call a day from this company which I just learned is Veritas Alliance, a debt collector. Sometimes we get up to three calls a day. Sometimes there is a recording, other times there is a person asking to speak to someone who I don't know. I would like them to stop calling our number immediately, we do not owe any money to this company. Thank you. We have been receiving calls for the past 2 years looking for someone that is not here.
When we finally got through after several calls were made to reach Veritas Alliance, we notified them and the calls stopped. For the past month, calls have resumed again. On occasion, 2-3 times in a day.
We are a business and the calls have become quite disruptive especially when a request to stop calling was already made and calls are resuming again.
Some calls are automated asking us to press 1 or 2. Neither option connects to anyone.
Other calls are automated and providing a number to call back (1-************). I just tried again and after a 20 minute hold, it ended with an automated message stating that representatives and busy and to try again another time.Business Response

I was contacted by Veritas Alliance Inc. on behalf of their client *** ***** ****** Inc. ****** stating that I have an outstanding debt from over 30 years ago and the original creditor was ************* ******** *********.
The amount is $6,896.67 settlement offer $4,138.00.and when I contacted them to find out what this was about they said they would settle for $2,000.00 right then.
I have never been in a ******** facility in my entire life.
This debit is not mine and I don’t want to hear from anyone about this issue again.
They have done a soft inquiry on my credit and stated in the letter they sent me dated January 15 that they know I have the means to settle the debt.

I am rejecting this response because:this supposed debt is over 30 years old and is not mine. Any investigation should have been done before I was ever contacted.
The only acceptable solution regarding this matter is no further action regarding collection of this debt.
Again, this debt is not mine I have never been in a Citizen Bank facility in my entire life and therefore will not accept responsibility for this debt.

Since last year, I keep getting ******** by Veritas. They won't stop calling me and even after blocking their number, they still try to reach me with other numbers and they leave voice messages. I had to silence all calls from my phone for over year just so I wont receive the call notification which made me miss many job opportunities. They have destroyed my life. Today (31/01/23), they left me another voice message so I called back and asked them what it was about. The agent on the phone told me that they were calling me because they wanted to speak to a gentleman (which they proceed to give me a name) but I told them that it wasn't me. I told them that it wasn't my name and that I am a woman and that they got me mistaken with somebody else. The agent then proceeded to ****** at me saying that I was ***** and that I was the gentleman they were looking for. He said that I looked like pinocchio because of how much I was lying. He started *********** me saying that he would never stop calling and that he would never remove my phone number from their files because he "knows im him" and then hung up on me. I was so shocked that it took me a moment to process exactly what had happened. It took me a minute but I took the courage to call back hoping I could talk to someone else who could respond to my request and it was the same agent again. As soon as I said hello, he cut me off and told me that what I was doing was unnecessary because he will always call me and then hung up. I tried calling back but it was silent for a couple of seconds then they hung up. I am actually scared for my life. I do not know any of these people. I am not the person they are looking for. I looked online and all the reviews are saying the same thing as i'm saying. **** **** *** ***** ** ******* I am filing a complaint today because I do NOT want to receive anymore calls from Veritas. I literally just got off the phone with a **** **** operator .. what kind of service are you running ? I called in about a letter sent about a debt that isn't mine but Instead of giving me possible options or asking followup questions I was met with . " well if that's not your name I can send you a bill with your name on it "
Why would I pay a 12 yr old bill for a service I never had ? The answer is because THEY say it's me and if I don't pay it they're going to stomp all over my credit to get the money from me .. thanks alot Veritas! Im So glad people I've never met before can tell me they're going to essentially ruin my already miserable Canadian life .
If in the event I did owe that money I wouldn't pay it to them .. **** **** *** **************.. I expect to have this dealt with immediately before my credit suffers any more from this tomfoolery

Veritas reported to credit bureau that I owned money to ****** ************** account that is 15 year-old.
I told the veritas **** agents in the phone they are looking for the wrong person, wasn't me to delete my number
