My mother has been the unfortunate victim of identity theft for the last two years. They somehow managed to take out a loan even with a credit freeze, and the loan got sold to PRA Group. We have a police report filed, an **** officer is also on the case. However, when we told the agent at PRA Group this information, he got very accusatory and rude. He accused us of defaulting on a loan that she did not take out. We tried asking for details of everything, but they refused to give it out. We wanted it to add as much accurate information as possible to the police report, and legally, they have to provide it. Now they're making us wait to be contacted, but we have gone ahead and asked for a copy of the police report in the meantime as he tried to say we did not have an actual report, since we did not have a physical copy. We have the occurrence number so that we may add to the report as we need to. We also asked the police to reach out to PRA Group on our behalf to divulge the information to aid the investigation. There's no need to be so rude, accusatory and almost threatening to victims of fraud.PRA Group Canada Inc.

I have been receiving calls almost daily and several times a day from numbers claiming to be PRA Group. The most recent numbers are 519***-0808, 613-***-8252, and 437-***-0075. I do not owe money to creditors. If these are legitimate numbers, please remove my number from your call list.PRA Group Canada Inc.

PRA GROUP CANADA INC. ************ has contacted me weekly now for about the last 3 months on my phone. They will not give me any information about why they are phoning unless I provide them with 3 pieces of personal identification, one being my **************** number. In this day and age, of course I refused. They said they would continue contact me by phone until I was prepared to provide them with the information they requested. They said it falls under the Canadian Privacy Act. This type of phone solicitation I would consider harassment. I'm 75 years old and do not need to receive these harassing style of phone calls on a weekly basis. I contacted the Better Business of Canada in in turn directed me to your website to make my complaint in writing. What these people are doing trying to extort my personal information over threat of continual phone harassment is so wrong. Not only in this day and age of phone scammers but at any time. I'm hoping you will be able to look into and do something about this harassment that this company is putting me through. ThankyouPRA Group Canada Inc.

We can certainly understand your reluctance to verify your personal information, however, since we are calling about a personal business matter, verification is required based on the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). I've also listened to the call in question and at no point did the Recovery Specialist ask for your full social insurance number, only the last 3 were requested. As it appears that you no longer want to receive these calls, we will go ahead and add your number to our Do Not Call list, however, the file will remain open. PRA GROUP CANADA These ****** have charged me twice on my credit for one purchase I could not pay off as life happens, and my mom was dying and I left to other province. I have had it on my credit for a year which is fine..then these ****** doubled it.Collection agency.Then tonight with my credit check..PRA GROUP CANADA They charge me with this name for the same price when that price in an insane name that makes no sense was already on my credit.This company like all credit is cold, and disgusting and I want this off my credit and this company red flagged.Before they double charge someone's else credit to a whopping ************************************************ should I say enjoyment.PRA Group Canada Inc.

1 starI received a call from PRA Group Canada. He asked if this was ****** (yes), confirmed my last name (yes), and then wanted to confirm my birthday (which he had wrong). When I asked him who he was, he said he was an asset recovery agent. I said, "Well, you have the wrong birthday, and you have the wrong person. " He replied, "Funny that you had to ask me twice before you decided that," and hung up.Review fromM. N.

1 starOur debt was garnished by PRA Group who agreed (via email, so it's a binding contract) to discontinue. They made this agreement after we submitted our budget etc, I give credit Shannon was very helpful. Two weeks later the garnish still comes out so I called a little hot under the collar. They passed the buck, made excuses, etc. Then I got a call from the Director Al berating me, insulting me, lecturing me he's angry I called his staff liars. He's refused to give me anything on paper agreeing to follow the contract agreed on. Told me he went against his better judgment and after speaking to me can see why. Told me I'm barking up the wrong tree when I asked what kind of assurance do I have that this won't happen again in two weeks and that I should take you're word for it. He blamed our payroll dept for lieing. I asked for his boss and he told me he was the boss. He also laughed and mocked me that I couldn't afford a lawyer.
Horrible company. I doubt anybody would want them representing their company at this point.Review fromRobyn P

1 starMy debt was bought by the PRA group, when I went to pay it off they told me they didn’t have my file anymore that it got sent back to *********, so I called ********* and followed direction to make my 3000$ payment. A month later I’m being told my payment wasn’t recieved to contact the PRA group. Well I’ve never ran into more ignorant workers Hugh aswell as the supervisor Sonya. It seems to me these people try to do the bare minimum work and watch the clock pass, telling me they have no information to provide me. Thankfully I ran into an amazing worker through ********* and she tracked my payment that was sent to the PRA group by a cheque. Hugh nor Sonya didn’t bother to look into my file enough to provide this information and continued to tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m trying to close on a mortgage and this is required to be paid as a condition, it is causing me financial hardship as I had to get an extension on my mortgage while waiting for a proof of payment.Review fromKevman S

PRA Group has been sending me emails asserting that I owe 17k+ on a debt originating from **** with an time sensitive offer to settle for a lessor amount. While the generous 10% settlement discount is admirable, the fact that I have never had any relationship with ****, let alone an unpaid balance, would be laughable if it were simply an honest mistake, but judging from other comments about PRA Group it seems that sending ********** debt claims is an intentional business strategy intended to coerce an unsophisticated individual to pay the offered settlement amount by exploiting their misplaced trust that the collection notice was legitimate.

I was dreading having to discuss with PRA regarding a debt that arose following identity theft which allowed the fraudster to acquire telecommunications assets. This bad debt ended up on my credit report and I was refused a credit card.
It was with surprise that I discovered that the PRA staff were courteous, respectful and attentive to my problem, whereas I expected acrimonious exchanges. Rather, it was with efficiency and diligence that PRA carried out its investigation and resolved the imbroglio.
PRA’s commitment to treating consumer debtors with the fairness and respect they deserve are not empty words. Prejudice against collection agencies with harassing methods is certainly not justified at PRA.PRA Group Canada Inc.
