I rented from Routes Ottawa for Thanksgiving weekend. When I booked and pre-paid on *******, it was for a car with unlimited mileage. Only once you pay do you get the fine print that unlimited mileage is not available for local residents. Also required a $1500 deposit which took days to remove from my card. Pickup was disorganized and lengthy. Staff was pretty unfriendly - I figured they were tired. Not a big deal. Found out on the spot that ******* listing of unlimited mileage was incorrect - clerk made an adjustment that I appreciated ****** ******* *******. We got on the road the next day and I called Routes to let them know the car was making strange noises at 80 km/h and the oil change light was on. They said no problem, it's safe to drive. So we drove 2 days with a car that shook on the highway. Fine. But, not the relaxing, comfortable trip I thought it would be. The final straw was returning the car on Monday night, as per the contract - the gate closed and locked, even though it is supposed to be open until 8PM and my return time was 7PM. After spending a while trying to get ahold of customer service, I got through, they spoke to someone, and gave me instructions that there was an unsigned lockbox, in the dark, on the side of the fence, and I should just leave the car. Not a big deal, but by then my husband was home and we decided to bring it back the next morning given that I had already spent the day driving. When we return the car, I bring the keys in, the clerk barely looks up, says well we close at 6PM (website posted as 8PM). I mean, just tell me about the lockbox! He was beyond **** and did not care in the least about how terrible the car was on the highway. I would have left the office pretty happy if he had just said they would make sure the car was roadworthy for the next client, and apologized for the mix-up last night. Customer care's response was to offer a free upgrade on my next rental.Routes Car Rental

Had a reservation with them which took us standing in line for 5 hours waiting, just to get to the ticket counter and the guy behind the desk was so arrogant to announce that "there are no more cars. So, if you do check in you are going to have to wait for a car". After waiting for 5 hours. Never heard of any rental car place that will make customers wait for 5 hours. They had 1 person checking everybody out, and no courtesy to even be mindful of people's time. I spent literally my whole afternoon there. Ended getting an **** out of there after waiting for 5 hours. By the way, they are outside the Atlanta airport, they are not on site. And they are quite careful not to say that on their booking sites. It took their shuttle literally 30mins to pick us up from the airport to their location, and I was told that was their normal time slot for their shuttles. Also, the **** ******** **, Atl location also uses their site as an airport parking site. And when people returned rental cars, they were asked to go look for parking on the street because their parking lot was full. So, customers are running late for their flights because they have to go find parking themselves. Ridiculous. No customer service etiquettes. People who were able to get their cars ahead of me ended up coming back up to the counter with complains of cigarettes and weed stench and trash in the cars. I made online reservations. I was unfamiliar with the location and this company. Don’t hesitate -
A great alternative to long term parking at ******. A safe and secure place to leave my car. A short free shuttle to and from the airport. The shuttle drivers are helpful with suitcases and had helpful hints as your dropped off at your departure terminal.
Pick up after my trip was quick and efficient. Different shuttle driver helped with suitcase and getting into the van.
Note: in Baggage claim- go upstairs and take the tram to lot F. (Car Rental)
I had to ask for directions to the tram. ****** is a big place??
I will definitely use Routes for my next trip.Routes Car Rental

1 starI rented a car when we got into Denver from these guys it was dirty. I had a quarter tank of gas and I got a parking ticket by accident which I had proof show the parking lot credit their account and they did not give me my money back and it’s been over two months going back-and-forth with several emails. I’ll never use these guys again and I travel quite a bit for work And pleasure. 1 star**** ******* *** ** ** * ***** We booked through ****** app and when we went to pick up the car they told us about all these fees we have to pay and a extra $2,500. Then they ent ahead and cancelled our reservation stating at first that we only had an hour to pick up the car and make our complains and when we went ahead and called ****** so they can help us with this reservation the company routes went ahead and cancelled it stating now that they didnt like the way we spoke to them. **** *** ******* ******! they have been doing this to everyone for years. 1 starI have learned a valuable lesson and will never purchase a bundle again.
I was not aware your car rental agency was not at the airport.
I was not aware you choose the car rental for me.
I waited 1 hour for the shuttle.
I was told there was only one truck left, and magic, another appeared with all the bells and whistles. I agree, it was a super vehicle, but normally I would not pay for insurance and not order the top of the line vehicle.
Jorge was very nice, but your overall rating is poor when it comes to Customer Service.
You really should listen to your customers. I saw many unhappy people in your lobby and honestly, I should have turned around and walked away.
Putting a $500 deposit on my credit card , not knowing how much the rental car would be is fraudulent.

They said I should get my refund with *******. ******* on the other hand said all refunds should be approved by route. Routes refused my refund. 1 starRenting a car from Routes Car Rental in ****** was a less-than-ideal experience for my wife and me. We encountered many challenges throughout the process that left us less than satisfied.Foremost, the reservation process turned into quite a hassle. Upon arrival at Routes Car Rental, my wife discovered they had added unnecessary charges to her Expedia car rental booking. One of these charges was a $500 refundable deposit, which was imposed because she had used a debit card instead of a credit card. Despite already having comprehensive and liability coverage through our existing car insurance, she was required to purchase additional insurance for $241.99.Our total expenses for the rental, including the exorbitant rental fee of $741.99 and the $180.00 Expedia charge, left us instead taken aback. To make matters worse, they informed us that the car initially guaranteed through Expedia was unavailable, and they offered ** a Jeep, which we declined. It wasn't until we had already exchanged nearly $1,000 that we finally received a Durango.The level of customer service we encountered could have been improved. The staff at Routes Car Rental seemed disengaged and could have been more responsive to our concerns. When we attempted to address the issues with the charges, they met us with indifference and unhelpfulness. It appeared as though they lacked the enthusiasm to ensure customer satisfaction.Overall, our experience with Routes Car Rental was far from ideal. From the convoluted reservation process to the quality of customer service, they fell significantly short of our expectations. I recommend anyone contemplating renting from Routes Car Rental to explore other options with more reputable and customer-focused ********************** companies. 1 starIf I could give Zero stars. My family and I used Route Rental car for our family vacation on 8/18/23. We returned van back on the same condition gas pass the line and everything. My deposit came back and everything. One month later I was charged again 267.00 randomly. And of course when I tried calling no one no customer service number nothing. This company literally stole from my children and I. What am I supposed to do? Like this makes no sense at all. The WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER
