******** ******* ******************************** Car Rental in Atlanta, ** I was charged $243 in additional charges for my 5 day rental:83.59 for border crossing (should have been ***** + tax)142.39 for fuel, despite the fact that the car was returned full.I called immediately from the airport but there was no answer to the phone after 14 minutes. Title: Frustrating and Unaccommodating Experience We rented a car from Routes in ******** through *******, and the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. When we picked up the car, we realized Routes has a no early drop-off policy, which immediately caused an issue because their business hours didnt align with the time we needed to be at the airport.We asked if we could drop the car off earlier and receive a refund for the unused day. Routes told us they couldnt help since the payment was made through ******* and directed us to contact them. When we called *******, they said they couldnt assist without checking with Routes. After ******* contacted Routes, Routes refused to provide any refund, even though they said we could return the car early. Essentially, wed still be charged the full price regardless of returning it early, which makes no sense.Whats baffling is that Routes charges fees for dropping a car off late or at another location, yet they refused to accommodate an early return request or adjust the cost. *** ************** ******* Routes *** ******* wasted our time and left us paying for a day we didnt use the car.The lack of flexibility, accountability, and customer service **** **** ********************** *** ******* was unacceptable. Worst experience in relation to travel I’ve ever had.
Waited for shuttle for it to be full so waited on another. Got to rental waited for an hour to tell us the reservation was canceled because we were late. Shuttle driver coasted through stop sign and ran a red light! All they did was stand outside and smoke and truly say “they don’t care”.Routes Car Rental

Here is an explanation of how the rental experience went: 1. I purchased vehicle insurance through *******, which is what I always do, and your agent told me that Routes doesn't accept insurance from *******. The amount I paid ******* was $60 and yours was $125 ** * ******* ****** *** *** ***** ****** ********** I called ******* and they told me the exact opposite. That Routes does accept their insurance. I would like for this to be confirmed. 2. Chip in the windshield was charged to me. When I picked up the car it was extremely dark outside. The agent did go out and take pictures of the car. When I got in the car the chip wasn't noticeable because it was so dark outside and the car was dirty. So now I have been charged $100 for that. 3. The car when I picked it up was extremely dirty, embarrassingly dirty, and I do not like to drive dirty cars, especially one that I have paid to rent. The outside was ********** covered. The wheels & tires were so dirty they looked brown rather than black. And the most disgusting thing was that the inside was coated with red dog hair from front to back. It also smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. I had to have the car washed because it was that embarrassing for me to drive. 4. Lastly, the agent that checked me out took an extremely long time. I saw other customers come and go while I was still waiting to be let go. He then stated that this was his first day out of training. ** *** **** ** **** *** *** ******** employees *** ***** ****** ** asked customers for good reviews ******* *** **** ** * **** **** **** there is no such thing as unlimited mileage. its * *** head office is india ** they say its toronto *** * *** . they dont care about ********* ** the customers. money is all they wanna grab **** ***** *********** **** *** . they dont care how much of loyal renter you are . you can only stay in ontario if you rent in ontario. no quebec visits unless you pay $15cad a day extra . if you buy routes car insurance you pay $3500cad for the insurance as a deductible as minimum even when not at fault. but $22cad a day to even have the insurance option added on your rental . also if you book through a third party (*********, ********, *********, etc) , the routes company will tell you to contact the third party for refund and act blind to your payment if you want to cancel. its not even located at the airport you will waste soo much time getting there . oh yeah one more thing. the deposit is $1500cad if you live in certain regions of canada instead of $500cad. this is the only rental company that makes it mandatory for you to provide proof of insurance so that you are not asked to purchased the insurance with routes . *** **** ********** ******** * ******* *** ** *** ****** ******* ** * ***** ** **** * ******* ***** ********* *** ** ********* *** ** ** ***** **** **** ******** **** ******* **** **** * *** **** **** ****** ** ****** *** ***** ******** *** *** **** **** **** ******* ** **** ****** *** ** ***** **** **** ******* *** ** ****** **** *** **** * ***** ***** ****** *** ****** ** * ***** ******** ******* * they will put unnecessary charges . did you know the taxes at the company are way more higher if you were to rent directly from a different company ** *** ******* ? again you will be wasting so much time getting there as it is 10 mins away from airport. dont be fooled by the cheap prices. **** ******** ***** ** ** **** *****Routes Car Rental

***Horrible ****************.***First off, the car we booked wasn't available. They did give us an upgraded vehicle for the same price, but it's not what I reserved. We reserved a ****, they gave us a *******. When you want to ride in a ****, you expect to ride in a ****! Would be like renting a sports car and unexpectedly getting an "upgrade" to an *******.Second, went out to *************************** (from *******), and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Popped the hood and the oil cap was sitting on top of the coolant reservoir and oil had splattered all over the engine block. Brand new ******* and that's how they maintain their vehicles?Third, and most importantly, I declined insurance coverage thru them. Had my own, no need to purchase theirs. The tenant at the counter said, "This is for declining coverage" as he scrolled down the reader for me (while I was reading it)... On the contract it showed I initialed next to both Declining coverage AND Accepting coverage, which I never did. I only Declined coverage... When I called to get a refund, they said, "Just send a copy of your policy and they will process the refund"... I sent it, and their **************** said, "We will not give you a refund since you accepted coverage"... When I pressed them more, and showing them proof that I Declined it, they said, "That's between you and the agreement you had with your booking site"(*******), which ******* did not charge us for coverage. That's absolutely between Me and Them, in which they REFUSE to accept the proof I provided showing my declination of coverage... And what would've happened if the engine seized because of the oil cap issue? Who would've been on the hook for that one?Fraud of a company!! Expect to get overcharged and a defective vehicle, not to mention ignored by their ****************. ***** ** *** ****** even if their rental prices are cheaper. We rented a car in August, 2024. We returned it with a crack in the windshield, and gave them claim infor from our insurance company, who agreed to cover it.They never contact the insurance, and when I challenged the claim with my credit card, they never responded. As of December 6, 2024, they are still holding my deposit, and I cannot get anyone on the phone. Filing a lawsuit is next. Sooooo not worth it.Routes Car Rental

This company has it in the policy that they do not rent to locals. This is an unusual policy which should be evident in the rental process. I rented a car and fully paid them. When I arrived, I was denied to rent the car and they did not want to give me a refund. I rented using ********* and Routes said that they do not have my money and that I should figure it out with *********. Well, my credit card payment clearly shows that the money was paid to them. How many people have been ******* by this company with their ***** policies? If I cannot rent from them, why do they take a non refundable payment?
