We reached out to Appliance Repair Experts in November to schedule an appointment to have our oven repaired. A technician came to our home in November, assessed the oven, told us that in order to fix the issue they would need to order a part & replace it & that the cost would be 1014.92 with labour, parts, & taxes. On November 22nd, we paid 507.07 & on December 9th, the technician returned, installed the new part, & charged us the remaing 507.85. The next time we used our oven, on Decemeber 15th, we encountered the same issue, meaning it was not repaired. We reached out on that day, explained that we were having the same issue, & they said they would order a different part & install that instead, at no charge. We reached out on January 2nd as we had not heard from them since then, they said they were still waiting for the part. On January 18th, the technician returned & installed the new part. My husband requested an explaination of what was repaired via text (he was not home for the repair) & the technician never replied. On January 23rd, we reached out again because we were having the same issue. We did not hear back from him. We tried reaching out to the technician multiple times via text & called the company many times & did not receive a response. My husband & I both emailed the manager explaining that we would either like them to stand by their work & fix the issue at no further cost to us or refund us what we have paid. They said they would stand by their work & send the technician again. It took many calls, emails & text messages to finally get the technician back to our home on March 14th at which point he said that he can't fix it. We asked for a refund & he said he would talk to the manager & call us within 2-3 business days. We have tried contacting him & the company with no response. We are tired of trying to chase them. We are hopeful that you can help us get a full refund as nothing they did ever fixed the issue.Initial Complaint

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to make a complaint about a company named Appliance Repair Expert.
I first contacted the company on the 18th of February 2023 to help repair my appliances. I was given an appointment for the 20th of February for between 8am -12 pm.
I subsequently exchanged a few text messages with the technician to explain the issues with my appliances on the 19th of February.
On the said day, I was at home waiting for the technician to arrive and so was my entire family as it was a holiday. I had my phone on charge waiting for a call but I never really got one.
At about after 9 am or so I picked up my phone and saw a text message and a missed call with a voice message. This was from the technician named ***** who I had been chatting with the day before.
Immediately , I tried to call the number back several times but there was no answer. I then sent a text message to the number he called me with and also to the main company number I had chatted with him through, to apologise and see if he would still come or perhaps reschedule.
I never got a response back I waited for another week and still nothing. I was disappointed that the company never responded to my text even though I saw the message was read. I went ahead to find another company who did the repair for me.
I was very surprised to get the message below from a Debt Collection Agency Demanding I paid Appliance Repair the sum of $204.70 for services rendered.
This has come to me as a shock because for one the company never sent me an invoice requesting any payment nor did they inform me that I would get charged for missing a phone call from their technician.
I am disappointed that in no less than 3 weeks of me contacting them they have already assigned a debt collection service to get money from me, a sum which I never knew I even owed.
Since they had my email I wonder why they didn’t contact me to see if we could reschedule since I missed a call from the technician or better still respond to my text messages. I was totally ignored and then suddenly the company wants money from me.
I believe this is unethical and unfair to treat consumers in this manner. In all my life I have never been taken to a debt collection agency and this company is tarnishing my credit history as well as causing me immense distress.
I believe there are steps to be taken before a company gets to the point of getting such a debt collection service involved in seeking redress.
I would be grateful if Better Business Bureau can step in to resolve this issue.

I look forward to your kind response to this matter.

I made an appointment with Appliance Repair Expert for someone to come have a look at our washer which was not working. The tech arrived on Friday March 17 as scheduled.
He spent a bit of time assessing the problem, identified what he believed to be the problem, gave me the price, and I provided a deposit of $296.80.
When the tech arrived on Saturday March 18 to install the part, he did some more tests and determined that the problem was with a different part. So, he arranged to come on Monday March 20 with a different part.
When he arrived on Monday, he determined that he had been given the wrong part and would therefore be returning on Tuesday March 21 with the correct part , but he never showed up.
On Wednesday March 22, I was advised that a tech would be arriving between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, but he never arrived. I emailed (no reply), texted (no reply) and called MANY times. Only twice did someone answer my call. Both times I was told the individual would get back to me with an update but this has not happened.
After many persistent calls I was able to get the manager's answering machine on March 23. I cancelled my service call and requested a refund, but have yet to receive any reply.
I know the original service call of $99 is non refundable but I would like my $296.80 less the $99 refunded. Can you help?
I was of course dealing with perhaps a franchise (?) of Appliance Repair Expert and have no specific address. The contact details that I have are:
*******@appliancerepairexpert.ca, ************ is the telephone number for my initial call,
************ is the support telephone number.
Thank you very much.

I paid Appliance Repair Experts $480.00 on January 24, 2023 to assess an issue with my gas stove and order a replacement part. The $480 included a $298.00 service charge plus an approximately $100.00 deposit for the part. The repair person informed me that he needed two weeks to order the part and come back to install it. He never returned.
Since early February 2023, I have tried repeatedly (via email and phone calls) to contact the company. I was in touch with the repair person at the end of February 2023 who apologized for the delay, as he was ill. I have not heard anything back from the company since then, even after repeated attempts to contact them for a refund of the deposit for the replacement part. Now all phone numbers related to Appliance Repair Expert have been disconnected.
Appliance Repair Expert owes me $100.00 and an apology for not fulfilling their agreement to finish the work. I would like a refund for the deposit I put down for the replacement part that was never installed.Initial Complaint

We paid Appliance Repair Experts and their repairman ****** ***** a deposit of $212.80 to repair our stove range hood. After the first visit and paying the deposit, the repairman stood us up twice before finally showing up with the wrong part. He said he’d order the correct part but then went MIA, and we’ve been unable to reach him since.
We’d like a refund, and we intend to hire a different, more reliable repairman.Initial Complaint

The technician told me the cost would be $225+tx for the service. When he was finished he asked me to tap my card before showing me the invoice. I asked to see the invoice he said it would be sent to me. He showed me the total amount of $280 on his phone then asked me to tap my card to make payment. I didn't do the math to figure out how much of $280 was tax, I trusted it was legitimate. I should have insisted because when I opened the invoice that was emailed to me later I saw it was for $250 +tx . The service took 20 minutes and there was no indication that anything was needed beyond what they suspected was the problem (so no additional work or parts were needed).
The invoice also does not include detail about the service conducted. I was told the work would be guaranteed for a few months, but not having an itemized invoice means there's no record for either of us to refer to should there be a problem with the freezer that would be covered under the guarantee.
I emailed them that evening with this same information and asked for the $25 dollar refund and an itemized invoice. I got no response so on March 3 I wrote again and asked for the name of a manager. No response. I texted the same request to the original person who texted me that the technician was schedule, no response. In that text, I said I would go to BBB if I didn't get a response.
It's not a lot of money but the ***** practice to pressure someone to pay a bill without allowing them to see it should be addressed by the company at the very least, and it seems equivalent to ***** if the charge is higher than quoted and it's poor customer service to not respond.
I would like a $25 refund and an itemized invoice.Initial Complaint

We paid 346.00 for a fridge repair without a breakdown of costs on the invoice. I emailed the company requesting a breakdown more than once and no response. Three weeks later the fridge returned to pre repair condition. After numberous attempts to reach anyone in the company I received an email from a “manager” promising the tech would return to repair. The tech kept making dates to come and then no show, no communication. After weeks he came, spent five minutes and said we need a new part. I agreed . Again he has promised to come and keep not showing up. ***** **** * ****** *** *** ** *** ******* ***** ******* ****** ******* ** ********** **. At this point I just want a refund and I can hire a reputable company to fix the fridge. I can provide proof of all of this.Initial Complaint
